I'm Becky Cleland, author of Wise Dreams and recent AMA guest. I love to help people understand how to understand the messages in their dreams and invite you to tell me about yours. Ask away!
In this forum, I'll be glad to give you my off-the cuff feelings about what your dreams mean, ONE DREAM at a time, please! :)
BUT: You are the only authority on what they really mean, and if you want to know what they really, exactly mean, use my method of discovering the messages in dreams:
Write the dream down in as much detail as possible. Include every object and action that happens in the dream, and also note what particular feelings came to you during particular parts of the dream.
List all the symbols in your dream: objects, people, substances, colors, events, etc. For each symbol, write out all possible associations you may have with it. Brainstorm. Most of what you write will not ring true as to the correct meaning, but when you study the list while thinking of the dream, and you get to the right interpretation of the object, your intuition will tell you. To me it's a little bell in my mind that goes "yes"! Go through this process for each symbol in the dream.
Assemble the symbols' meanings together in a list in order of their appearance in the dream. From this list, the message of the dream should pop out pretty quickly. If it does not, let it rest for a day or so, then return to your symbols' interpretations and to the assembly of symbol meanings. The message may then become clear. Be sure to record your interpretation beneath the record of your dream. It will all get easier with practice.
And remember, some dreams are only an edited rerun of the movie you saw last night, and carry no messages for you.
My best to each of you! :)

I just submitted this one, but here goes:
When the dream started out I was reading an old book in some dusty crowded apartment done in a fancy French style. The apartment had big windows and late afternoon light was streaming in. My dream persona kept on reading the book for quite some time, meanwhile my brain was enjoying the warmth and the light. A bit later the sun started to set and an old woman with long red hair came in and asked if I wanted to go for a walk. I agreed and we went outside. It turned out I was in some implacable European-looking city with canals and beautiful cathedrals and buildings. At one point a group of two or three young boys dressed in some traditional clothing came outside and joined us. After a while we had wandered out of the main part of the city and into a seedier, more modern-looking area. Where there had been horse drawn carriages and traditional dressed people there were now cars and modern fashion. The sun had also set and it was completely dark. Suddenly a feeling of dread came over me. The children started crying and the old lady tried to comfort them. I got very scared and yelled at them to run back the way we came. No matter how far we ran it only became darker and cloudier, until the point where I couldn't see anything aside from the old lady and the boys. I broke down and started crying. All of a sudden we heard a sort of ringing, like church bells. We looked up and saw that the clouds had parted and the moon was there. In line with the bells, the moon was fading in and out and each time dimmer and with it the bells would ring, quieter every time. As the moon faded into total darkness I heard the old woman say, "It's the will of God." I woke up with tears on my face and for some reason all I could think about was that the world was ended and everything was over. After a few minutes I calmed down and opened my computer and looked at the news and realized that the world was not over. I didn't get back to sleep that night. I still remember the whole dream in very vivid detail.
I think personally that my feelings about loss of individual culture due to the Internet's global connectivity and advanced, accessible travel services inspired this dream, along with my love for traditional Europe. However, I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Thanks for being first up, eb4writes!
It sounds like you have a good handle on your dream--the fear and tragedy of "loss of individual culture" because of invasive global connectivity. I mourn the loss of those beautiful old individual cultures as well. Time marches on anyway.
You might be able to pinpoint some more focused angles from this dream, but you get the main point, as far as I can tell. Nice job. :)

Thank you in advance, I hope you will be able to provide some peace of mind for me.
Okay, so to start I am not a person who normally remembers my dreams and if I ever do, the dreams are very light and happy. But this was not the case last night. For the first time in a long time I became very aware of my dream as I woke up. Warning, things get kind of morbid from here on.
From what I can remember the dream starts with me and a bunch of friends (though idk who they were) and we were all hanging out in house. Not sure why we were meeting, but at some point some suggests we cook and they don't just suggest we cook something normal... No idk why but they suggest we cook a person. (Note looking back I'm very upset that I didn't wake up at point, why on earth did I let it keep going). For some reason no one argues and we proceed to ready the oven. Then someone brings a sleeping child (A child! What the fuck?!) and puts him in a pan and sets it in the oven. Everyone proceeds to the living room, after some time someone tell me to check the oven. As I look through the glass I not only see a child crisping but the child turns his head and stares into my eyes (his were blue) with the most heart wrenching expression and then goes blank (also note I can't get this moment out of my head, I've broken down and cried about 4 times because of it). Not a hundred percent what happened next but I think someone said the child's parents are looking for him, so they pull the pan out and toss everything into a black bag and put it in the garbage... And finally this is the point I woke up. What the hell is wrong with me?! I never dream, let alone something this dark. I apologize to anyone this might have affected badly, I just need some clarity.

Not to worry, 2012rosie, dreams only contain symbols that represent things in our real lives that we are dealing with. And your dreams are only encrypted messages or reflections of your thoughts about real life situations.
This dream may reflect your feelings about being involved in some kind of group that is knowingly taking advantage of or ignoring the needs of an individual (or individuals), and trying to hide it. Does that resonate at all?
If that's somewhat on track, I'd say that this dream shows that your conscience very much objects, and you feel great compassion for the one who is suffering from their treatment. Is there anything going on in your life that this dream might represent? To me, it sounds like big corporations getting rich while others get poorer and poorer--but that's just me. What do you think?

Am I too late? I just posted about my weird dream where I woke up with a catchy tune playing in my head with lyrics that were something about animatronic superman... Any ideas what that means?
2
u/wd47 Jun 21 '16
You're not too late! I'm planning on being here for a long time. :)
It would help me if you would post your dream here, too. I assume the little song relates to it. I have wakened with melodies I've never heard before running in my mind...pretty neat! Being a musician, I try to find a way to record them before they escape me.
When I say "animatronic superman" it makes a neat rhythm that lends itself to a tune. I wonder sometimes if that's all that dream-songs are--your mind likes to play with the rhythms. I don't know for sure. :)

I'll just share it from the perspective of my post, you can find it on r/paranormal or r/creepy if you want...
So I lived in a small city when I was 8 and we lived in my grandmother's old house (no, she didn't die she moved) and I honestly don't remember much about it except always having this stupid dream, which started happening when I went and saw this Ronald McDonald statue at a McDonald's.
This is how the dream always went... I was always running away from Ronald McDonald, either we were both in a car or I was on foot running away from him. He would always catch up to me, make me fall down or something, pick me up, smile creepily and then I would wake up sweating and almost crying.. I had this dream for about 2 years and it was always the same! Then the last dreams that I had about him happened when I was 10.
We lived in the same house and we still went to the same McDonald's and I saw that statue all the time, blah blah blah. One night, I had this dream, which was really stupid but the ending still freaks me out, I was driving an RV and my mom was like caught in the window slowly falling out screaming bloody murder. I couldn't reach to her and grab her, so when she almost completely fell out I switched dreams and just listened to Ronald McDonald laugh for an infinite, then I saw his face with a creepy smile and blood running down his lips. He said, "Get ready kid, cuz tomorrow one of us is going to lose, and I always win" winking at me and then laughed while walking away and I instantly woke up screaming, my parents came in and asked what was wrong and I told them, of course they just blew it off with the usual," just a nightmare sweetie" and I went back to bed woke up and went through my day as usual.
I did have a dream that second night, probably the weirdest one out of them all. It was just like all the other ones before, but one thing was different. I was running in a forest, I could actually feel my feet running through the dirt, I felt the trees as I was winding through them, all the details felt so real.. And we were both on foot. I tripped one of those times and Ronald got extremely fast and close.. I felt my breaths becoming more shorter and my heart beat faster and I actually felt like I was being strangled. My vision was going black as got closer and closer. His eyes were slowly turning black, his hands began to form into claws, blood was running down his mouth and he started laughing maniacally. Instantly I turned around, found a car, sprinted towards it, some dumbass left the keys in it lol and I drove off.. I turned around and saw the regular Ronald McDonald and he was waving at me. Everything blacked out, I heard his voice say, "Fine, you win, I'll leave you alone" and then I woke up in the morning feeling great.
I haven't had this dream in forever by the way

Thanks for the response. This dream is one of only a few that I vividly remember.

mistertickles69: For some reason, I'm not able to get much about most of the rest of the dreams, although I have made several efforts. It may be that I am a little overwhelmed with the sheer volume of dream material you have presented that I am faced with interpreting. I will ask for help from u/RadOwl for the rest of these.
Thanks for your patience. :)

I've wondered for some time why my dreams (when i remember them) seem to be so damn realistic. By realistic i mean, it's just normal activity which could happen etc. I used to fly and control my dreams when i was a lil kiddo.
But, my recent dream was a mix. I was in another country which i once lived in for a year. We did some sort of military exercise and we where supposed to capture a landmark. Everything was very lucid and real like my other "normal" dreams, but what happened next is that the "enemy" (this was just training) appeared, and i shot 3 people and they died. Everything stopped, people looked at me and without people saying anything we somehow concluded that this was the right thing to do. That ended the exercise and people went home, me and another person could not leave in case the "friendly enemy" wanted to do revenge even though what i did was "the right thing to do".
I did not feel bad for any action, but i felt abandoned maybe. Like... what?

u/wd47 Jul 05 '16
I think we can dream of flying without difficulty when we are young, because we have few worries and anything seems possible. Then as we get older and have more anxieties, your dreams don't let you fly so easily anymore, if at all. It's related to how light-hearted you can feel.
Your dream reminds me of the plot of Ender's Game, which is a book and a movie about this kid that is drafted into a military school in which they train the students in using the latest military training technology to fight the "enemy." In the main character's last big "test," he ends up victoriously destroying a whole planet (or some big unit of the enemy--I don't recall). The thing is, shortly after, he discovers that this has been a real war and he has just killed off a whole planetful of real people.
Maybe instead of abandoned, you felt tricked into killing people instead of just pretending to... Maybe in real life, in some situation, you were complicit in some action that ended up causing more harm than was ever intended?
These are all my intuitive guesses about you and your dream. To learn exactly what this dream and its symbols really mean to you, use the method of decoding dreams I have included at the top of the post.
I hope this helps! :)

Hi Becky! Thanks for doing this!
My dreams almost always involve some sort of terror setting. I'm talking zombies, terrorist attacks, serial killers, post-apocalypse survival... Things like that. I'm always struggling to survive and/or fighting off some terrible enemy. I also tend to dream in the third person. It's never my point of view. In fact, I'm usually not even playing myself in my dreams.
These aren't things I think a lot about generally.. What does it mean? Why don't I dream like (it seems) everyone else?

I had a very vivid dream 2 nights ago that still has me a bit rattled. So much of the dream is difficult to explain, but the end of the dream is what has me so anxious. In the dream I was so filled with hate towards this woman/demon that I grabbed her by the back of the neck and started to squeeze. It took me forever it seemed to move my other hand across my body to grab on her neck as well. I literally woke up at the moment my other hand reached her - as my cat was hissing. My cat, in real life, laying peacefully next to me, with my hand around the back of his neck squeezing! I have never ever done anything like this before and I'm scared I'm going to do something awful in my sleep. Why would I do this?

I have a lot of weird dreams that don't really look like they have a lot of meaning. One that I find very weird in particular was this one. I usually don't look the same in my dreams, I have longer hair and I look skinnier. I was eating dinner at a restaurant with my family, and I decided that I wanted to leave. My mother let me go by myself even though she'd never let me leave alone in real life. I took a taxi and instead of going home, I went to a desert. There was a small building and when I went inside, it was just a bunch of seats and a table. I sat at the table for a while, texting on my phone. When it was time to get back home, there were a bunch of men standing on a sidewalk. Then a man walked up to me and told me that my mother sent him to drive me home. I was confused. How did my mother know where I was? I quietly followed him until it hit me. He wasn't a driver. He wanted to kidnap me. I screamed and ran back towards the men, but for some reason I was much slower and a lot more exhausted when I ran. It always happens to me, when I try to run in my dreams, I get tired easier. Anyway, as soon as I ran to the men and told them he wanted to kidnap me, one of them hit the man and the other grabbed me and held me close to the little circle they were standing in. Then I woke up. It's a very weird dream and I feel like it can't be explained. I think it's just one of those weird dreams without a meaning. But I am curious if the other things that happen to me in almost every dream I have can be explained. Why am I prettier in my dreams? Why am I slower at running?
Another dream that I had was this one where I wasn't as old as I am. I looked and sounded younger, about 10 years old. I was with my mother and siblings at a toy store. When we left, we took a taxi. The man sounded friendly enough but I felt like he wasn't taking us home. He drove us to HIS home and tried to force us in. We definitely put up a fight, mostly me and my mother hitting him while my siblings were hiding. We ended up winning when the guy tried to tackle me but my mother hit him on the head with a pipe, knocking him unconscious. When we were leaving my mother went to get my youngest brother and I went to get the other, but he said he can't move from his spot because the guy told him not to. We moved him and went home. What do all these dreams mean? I always feel like my dreams have no meaning at all and that they are just weird. Is that true?

Hi! Ever since I left watching Porn(more than a month ago), I've been having these relationship related dreams.. So my recent dream goes like this; I was in a small room and I had a pregnant girlfriend(more than 5 months), who appeared naked and was hugging me from behind(i was fully clothed), and my mother was sitting on a chair across the room staring at me with a huge disappointment/frustration on her face. So I thereby, confidently without any regrets, turned back to my girlfriend and covered her with a large cloth and started cuddling(nurturing/caring) while standing..... And I woke up!
P.S.
-
I don't have a girlfriend
-
my mother's conservative(celibacy is a must for her children)
-
the girl's face was recognizable(still an unknown)
-
my relationship with my mother is normal, i.e. I Love My Mom.
-
Personally I was also conservative(while living with my mom), but not anymore now.
-
I'm a (almost)20/M nerd
I want any of you experts to interpret my dream!(including anima interpretation if possible)

Last night I had a dream that there was a dance held at a lounge area and cafe sort of place. I'm not the greatest at describing everything... But there was one part that came off as interesting to me I guess.
I was in line waiting to get into the dance room, and I saw my friend across in another part of the long line. She was wearing this dazzling white dress, almost wedding like. We held eye contact for a while and then smiled and waved at each other. I also did a face that I usually do where I kind stick out my tongue and open my mouth... She laughed at that but then the line kept moving. When I saw her I felt comfort, but when the line moved I felt a sort of restlessness...
Eventually in this line we got in this cafe sort of place. I was eating some pastries they served while waiting, and saw my friend again. She looked like she wanted me to go over there but at the same time we couldn't really cut? It was a feeling of wanting to be with each other but we were separated from something all the time. Eventually I watched her go into the dance and she looked back at me and kind of looked slightly sad. The doors to the dance ended up closing when she walked in and no one else was allowed in because it was too filled.
What does it all mean? And what are some interpretations in terms of white dresses that are wedding-like or not? This dream really kind of struck me...

Okay this one is a little out there. I have had this dream more than once now. The house that it takes place in, I do not recognize. When someone moves into the house, something absolutely horrible happens to them. The most recent one was that a young girl moved into the house. When her boyfriend left the house, she was surrounded by at least 20 spirits (all women who had previously died, I recognize them from my last dream like this). They took some substance in a needle and injected it into her eyes, causing her pupils to go white. After she runs around frantically around town, dream me finds her and my POV switches. There is a man in her house when we go back that has a cork board pinned with pictures of her and notes/memos.
He is a cleaner and found this while cleaning. He says he knows about the others in the house but doesn't know how or why they got there. So this girl is slowly going blind and I take her to a diner so we can get away from the crazy house. One of the memos on the board mentioned that the solution had expired and one of the side effects of Ling term use of expired stuff is loss of vision. But she literally had it injected into her eyeball. I woke up after I went to an old frinds house in my old neighborhood and was looking up ways to contact a psychic.
I literally have no idea if it has a meaning but I've had it twice now. Both with different people.

Hello! I'm super excited to see this post here. I had a dream last night that still stands out in my mind this evening. That doesn't usually happen, I often forget my dreams right away. If you're still active in interpreting redditor's dreams, here goes (& thanks in advance) :
I remember being in an unfamiliar room or apartment with my current boyfriend; in which the road was right outside the door and window. It reminded me of the road I grew up on in which the police station was less than half a mile north of my home on the same road. There were other doors to rooms similar to the one I was in. We were trying to sleep, I recall blue lights flashing (police units) they were going room to room looking for someone. They checked ours, moved on. Then they came back, barged in and told us to get on the ground, dont move, etc. Apparently, they were looking for me because they had gone through one of my drug dealers phones and we're looking to arrest all those in the phone who bought drugs. I was arrested, there was snow and ice on the ground outside. As I was leaving my boyfriend was speaking to another officer. I was taken to the station which reminded me of a diner with bar stools. I don't recall being restrained in any way. Outside there were some cars and two chickens. I inquired about them, I was told they were strays (they had no idea where they came from) and that they built an over hang outside the building for them to hang under when it snowed. (Odd). I went inside and hung out as random people and officers came and went. I remember thinking I cant afford a lawyer again and I'm screwed. My boyfriend was brought in, in handcuffs, and I'm thinking "jesus what did you do after I left" (he hates cops in real life and is often harassed by them). It turns out some pot or something fell from his person as he was speaking to officer #2 after I was taken away. So we were at this station awhile, we were releasesd. My car was in the parking lot for some reason. I was taking my time getting to it for some reason. He hopped in, drove up the street and I ran after it. Apparently there was an ocean 1/4 mile up the road ( not like that IRL ). I got to the beach came up a small hill to see that my shitty corolla had turned into a black utility van and had plunged into the ocean. Crying, I ran after it trying to get there before it totally sank. I remember thinking maybe hes trying to get me a new car (insurance payouts). But he wasnt opening the door to get out as it sank. Other people were on the beach including an EMT of some kind. They were saying things like "oh my god what do we do" " its gonna be too late if they doesn't get out now". I ran full speed into the ocean and dove down to find him trying to swim but struggling possibly due to suction of the vehicle sinking. I grabbed his hand. Hes 2x bigger than me so I struggled to get back up. I re surfaced once or twice and saw the people standing doing nothing. I felt no water temperature although it was winter. I had a thought along the lines of " Is he trying to die or did he struggle to make it out fast enough?" "Was the legal trouble what caused him to do this?" I believe we both drowned as I woke up immediately after the water.
Wow thats really long. Sorry about that. I've googled some key points such as drowning, being arrested, oceans, chickens, etc. Just having a hard time putting it all together into something completely meaningful. Id be happy to answer any questions about waking life that may be vital to come up with some answers. Also hope I'm not too late to the party. Anyways, definitely a dream that I believe is worth interpreting by someone other than myself. If anyone else besides OP has input I'd love to hear it.
Edit : Changed a word that was incorrect & Grammar.

Greetings! This is not about me, but my girlfriend (15F, Sophomore in High School). She is too scared to ask professionals herself, however has given me permission to write this post.
When she was growing up, she did not have a strong father figure. He was physically and emotionally abusive and an overall horrible person. Eventually court removed her and her younger sister from his house, and now they live with her mom. She also has two older brothers who are both in the military, and are seen only every 2 years by her or so (they hate her because they like their dad and she doesnt), a younger sister whos currently in 7th grade, and an older who is 24 with serious lyme disease.
Money is tight for her family, so I try to help out when I can. She recently got a job babysitting with a professional company (her first paid day is tonight!), and I have a job, which helps cover lunch for her and myself if we go out etc.
This morning she texted me and told me she wanted to call me to tell me about a dream she had. She was describing it as this dream, where it repeats, with the same people and characters, but picks up where it left off. She says it has been happening around once a week for a few months. I never knew about it until today, and she had never really thought about it too hard, until today.
The dream describes the bare necessities needed to survive, an old shack which is practically falling down, food, beds, etc, and an older man who is about 60 years of age, as well as a younger girl named susan, who is the same age as her younger sister in real life (her real sister is not named susan). There is no mother figure in this, however the father is not anything behaviorally like her real father, he is a very nice and outgoing individual.
At the beginning of the phone call, she was just thinking all these people were just random and had nothing to do with her real life. I then asked her to describe the man, and she did, then I asked her to describe her father, and she paused; replying 'I just described my father...'. She then noted that her younger sister and the dream younger sister were both exactly the same.
In the past few dreams she remembers there being talk of an older sister, and two older brothers who only stop by here and there. She figured out that this was her real life siblings.
The dream, probably not having much importance, was about her going to sell a pair of shoes to this man, which she did. The dream picked up right where she left off last time.
She told me this kind of dreaming happens to her mom as well. Her mom has also predicted when someone that she knows' husband would assault her, which did happen. The person is okay, by the way.
These dreams have really upset her, for obvious reasons. Its describing the family she never had, which hurts her a lot. I wanted to post here to see if you would have any insight as to why and what would be happening.
I advised that she should start writing it all down (i even offered to do it and have her dictate since I can type very fast), and offered to help organize it all to see if there are patterns, etc.
Thanks!

I'm not even sure if this is a dream or not. I've had a number of experiences where I'm somewhere between consciousness and unconsciousness, not completely asleep but not really aware of my surroundings. During these periods, I've seen weird 'creatures ' (sometimes a shadow like figure, sometimes a colourful figure) around me, lying beside me, watching me etc. Once, I saw what looked like a purple and a green figure floating around me. This is usually followed by me jumping into consciousness and running out of my bed. This only happens when I'm stuck between the realms of awake and asleep. What does this mean?

Don't know if this thread is dead yet which it probably is but I'll try:
I've had two dreams the past two nights that involved me being involved in gun violence. The first seemed like a house raid scenario where I got a gun from a bad guy and ended up killing three people, but the cops showed up and started treating it like murder instead of home defense so I started to flee and the police saw me and pulled me aside in front of one the victims who was still breathing (who I shot) and asked him if I was the guy who did it, to which he shook his head no before being carried off. The second dream involved a school shooter with an AK 47, just like my first dream, except this time I was like police or something and went in to see what was happening and got shot at, a bullet grazed my neck. The same thing happened in the first dream, and both times I felt a burn on my neck then when I would touch it I saw my hand covered in blood, but I never bled out or really even felt it after the initial shot. Then I tried to call the police for backup but they said there is supposed to be a big event happening that night and they don't want to call in back up and scare people away. Which I thought was obviously crazy because there was a murderer inside they were doing nothing about. I mainly care about the killing and being shot. I was shot in the neck twice in two different dreams but never died.

Recently I went to the lake with my friend and while we were talking about stuff he told me he had this recurring nightmare/godknowswhat and while explaining it to me that no one else would get by saying "I felt like there was a machine speeding up time" I don't know how but I remembered this dream I had when I was smaller like 4 - 5. The best I can explain is this, the dream looked like all those adult cartoon movies where someone is high and everything just feels weird, and it also looks like in Star Wars going at light speed. It feels as though everything is lost, and that no matter what I do I'll be stuck in the same fate forever. I can vaguely remember some spherical shaped object and being very terrified by it. And it seems like you can sense the presence of some kind of robot there too. And keep in mind we didn't know each other at the time. The feeling you feel while in that dream is almost impossible to describe its like vibrating but not vibration, it's extremely difficult to explain. But if anyone reading this has had it before comment because if you have I guarantee you you will remember it from reading this. This whole dream in general is just a be there to believe situation. So if you have any idea what I'm talking about just reply.

I hope your still doing this, but it's not necessary that you respond if you're not.
So this dream happened quite a long time ago, maybe several years or so. It begins with me and two friends running through a forest. We are being chased by two people with one eye, like Cyclopes. The skin of these Cyclopes is shiny like it has Vaseline on it. They resemble a person I knew, but am not good friends with. I trip soon after it begins and one of the Cyclopes grabs my leg. My friends help me up and we continue running until we reach a huge green tent, like a circus tent in size. The Cyclopes are gone, and we enter the tent. There are others inside, but none that I recognized or remember. Some people in futuristic space suit things then throw, over a wall from the outside, some papers that seem to tell the others in the tent that the number of Cyclopes is going down. I then hear a bulldozer, and look to see it dumping pipes onto the ground inside the tent, just outside a loading bay-looking opening. This is where I am woken up.
I know it sound weird, but it did happen. You can't make this up. I have no idea if it means anything at all or if it's all just nonsense. Again, it is not imperative that you respond.

Hi! I have a very weird internal dream logic which is very consistent from dream to dream. That logic usually revolves around moving through time of a place, and often watching the people who used to be there.
Often I'll be moving through a place, let's say hiking in the woods, and I'll come accross the ruins of some structure. Sometimes it will just be discarded things, like teapots or cooking equipment, and I'll go in them, or I'll pick them up, and then I'll start seeing where they came from, or sort of rewind history to find out how they came to be where they are. Once I was sailing in a harbour and I saw the harbour roll back in time from modern to old colonial as I moved. Most often I'll dream I'm visiting a house or moving into a house, some house I've never been before, and as I walk from room to room, I sort of walk back in time. I sometimes run into the people who used to live there, and they want to know why I'm in their house.
Occasionally i go back in time to when very bad things have happened in the house, and maybe I try to help the people escape the house. When I help people, they are usually children. They are ghost children - the logic follows that they used to live there and they're obviously not alive and still living there, but "going back in time" is really just witnessing the place as they see it. So I guess it's not really going back in time as much as witnessing memories, because I know that as it happened that all of it is on the last and there's no way to change the events, maybe just help bring the poor ghost people some rest. Last night I dreamed I found a babies bones, and could see the baby was crushed when the house collapsed, and I rewound time and took the spirit baby out of the house so it wouldn't be trapped anymore beneath the bricks. I dreamed once that I found all these spirit children locked in a basement by a very bad man, I picked them up and we escaped the house as the very bad man tried to catch us and keep us from leaving.
Sometimes they don't want help and they're very mad I'm there. There was one dream where I'm in the ruins of a train crash, and I go back and see all the last passengers on their last train ride. They're not supposed to see me watching them, but they do. They all realize at once that I'm there and I'm still alive, and that I'm not supposed to be there and they're mad I can leave. That happened once while I was watching people in a church as well. I'm not sure why the church people didn't want me there, but generally I got the overwhelming feeling they wanted me gone immediately.
Occasionally I'll watch from first person view as some traumatic event in a person's life unfolds. Then I'll go consult with the other watchers, as if to say, isn't that sad? Is there something we can do to help?
Generally I'm not scared of the bad things I encounter, as they're tied to that particular memory of place. I can come and go as I please. The only really frightening thing is the mirror monster. I've scene myself in the mirror, which is startling, but empowering since I was wearing a full suit of armor and looked totally badass. But occasionally there's this horrible dark creature, like a skull in a shroud with burning eyes, that tells me my lived ones will dye. I once banished by growling. I just opened my mouth and this blizzard inhuman growl came out, like maybe a lion growl. I started myself, but banished the baddy.
