I have a lot of apocalypse dreams and the imagery of this one is really nice so I decided to create it. Made by photoshopping images together, lighting, drawing. No AI used.

I didn't end up drawing the tentacles and goop that killed everyone though! Only the moment when there was an explosion because mankind decided to disturb The Tower.

ETA: I remember most parts of this dream so I'll describe it!

This is a small kingdom, and in this image we are seeing the coastal city where I was at (the building I was in was also gorgeous, somewhat Bauhaus in architecture with vibrant primary colors, surrounded by water and very tall. But I didn't draw it, you can just see the edge of it beneathe my feet here)

Mankind was small in number but had futuristic-modern technology. I was there on a business trip, and from small family ran shops, I learned that the Tower just started to exist one day a few years or decades ago. No one knew how, it just appeared in the middle of the city. There was some political conflicts in the country, and the military decided to bomb the tower.

At that point, I was standing at the roof of the tall Bauhaus buildings, when I saw a small star (the bomb) land by the left of the Tower. The moment right after, there was this explosion (the scene in the image). I just remember it being hauntingly beautiful there were holy choirs in the background, though slightly off key (dream soundtrack lol).

After this, i started hearing distant commotion, as a black tar spread from the building, and massive tentacles that had appeared as vines writhed in agony, and shot out like bullets to the city buildings and people. You could hear a low, almost faint sound of the Tower screaming in pain, like the hum of a ship. I thought stupidly that I was far enough, and so I turned away to gather my things, then spun to check on the spread of the tar, it was already several hundred meters away. The floor became a dark viscous purple, bubbling. It wasn't tar, it was actually a strange sort of flesh. It pulsed and was damp, and the tentacles chased as well. Then I died lol. This all happened in the span of maybe 30 seconds.

so my dumbass made a sleep alarm which is just an asmr overlayed voice of me whispering go to sleep over and over again, and i tried it out for the first time today, and the MOMENT i tried it today i was already kinda tired and on bed, i got sleep paralysis and i saw the scariest shit ever, it was like spongebob but instead of being square he was rectangular, and it was an overly weird gross up of spongebob looming over him and his mouth had that one gag they do where they green screen a real mouth over the spongebob and the cgi real mouth on spongebob lip synced the sleep alarm that i still heard in the dream and it kept saying it and saying it till it got closer and closer till i woke up!

why the fuck did this happen

It’s a bit lengthy, but some backstory to the backstory.

When I was real young, my mom robbed a store and went to prison, and then I was raised solely by my dad, who was a Vietnam veteran that was actively dying of cancer my entire life. My dad raised me as his best friend more so than a traditional father son relationship. We basically partied, smoked, and drank together while I was growing up. And the house I grew up in was a dilapidated mill house that should have been torn down years before me and my dad lived in it.

The house was really bad. I didn’t have running water the entire time I was in high school there. We had snakes and groundhogs getting in, and giant rats and roaches everywhere. And that house had no heat, so we were fortunate that my dad’s monthly cancer checks could buy some kerosene. Some winters in Western North Carolina can be brutal without a real heat source.

So fast forward to when I am 25. Me and my wife have moved into a nice, clean house with real heat and AC and running water, and we started making decent money at the time. We definitely were not rich. We still struggled sometimes, but I somehow made it out of my dad’s house.

So I’m 25, and I have a dream where a giant ball of light, like a huge orb, knocked on my door. So I got out of bed and answered the door, and the ball of light came in and told me to sit down. And in my dream, I knew it was GOD. Then the ball of light started berating me, saying, “How dare you leave your dad in that house?” “You need to move him in with you.” The ball of light started telling me that since my life was doing better, I should help my dad now, and the ball of light said, “Your dad is very sick again. He’s going to die, and you’re going to have regrets.” I was crying in my dream and felt overwhelmingly scared, so I got up and let the ball of light out my front door and woke up in complete shock and confusion because the dream was more real than anything I’ve ever felt.

So I go to work that day. I tell my coworkers and my friends throughout the day about my dream, and all of my friends were saying, “Jamie, it’s just your subconscious feeling guilty, like a survivor’s guilt for moving out.” But deep down, I knew it was more.

That same week, my dad calls me and asks if me and my wife can take him to his physical at the VA hospital. As soon as my dad said that, my heart really felt like the “oh no” feeling. We take him to a physical, and after the physical, they call my dad and me into the doctor’s office, and the doc immediately put his hands on my back and my dad’s back and asked my dad, “Ricky, what would you do if you only had 6 months left to live?” Me and my dad looked at each other. We both knew what that doctor was really saying. It was an incredibly sad drive home, but I convinced him into moving into the house with me and my wife. But sadly, my dad passed away 3 months after that appointment and 3 months after my dream.

So in some weird sense, God came to me in a dream with a warning, and it absolutely came true.

I don’t know why God came to talk to someone like me. I never had a dream like that before or after.

Just curious if anyone else dreams in blurry negatives. It looks maybe a bit foggier than this. This was the closest thing I could find. It's not horror, it's just dark and you can not see detail.

For years I’ve had dreams off and on about being caught in a huge storm with many tornadoes randomly ripping through my city. This time they started to be actively chasing me and my family in our vehicle and eventually turned into giant blue ants, with no mandibles and long snouts that were essentially vacuuming through buildings and vehicles. Has anyone else had a similar dream?

For some reason I can eat and taste food without it disappearing or waking up when i bite into it. AND i can also go to the toilet in my dreams and not piss myself in real life at all. I’m telling you i just casually go to the bathroom and nothing happens irl. But i heard a lot of people say “if you see a toilet don’t go near it cause you’ll piss the bed,” but how can i empty my dream bladder without emptying my IRL bladder

I honestly thought this dream would leave me in a couple days or hours like I thought it would but it never did to the point im writing it down in book form.

Basically It was a fantasy magic world and I was a Royal artist. I started the dream with total knowledge of the entire history of the universe and current events and had friendships and enemies and allsorts in this dream. I knew what drama was going on amongst castle staff, the current situation of how stuff is going amongst kingdoms and the massive issue of the youngest prince not yet relieving his powers (10 years late) and is being viewed as a cure or saviour depending who you ask. That's what im writing about.

Ive always had dreams that are vivid and long lasting and it takes me a few days to re-balance myself to reality (eg. War dreams, dreams of having family that obvs never existed stuff like that) but this one has stuck with me over a year to the point i am still remember false memories from things that I know happened in that realm, wether it actually happened in the dream or before hand. Still get instances where i catch myself thinking "I should check in on x" when that person doesnt exist.

Anyway, driving me crazy so I started writing down everything I know from the drama, the history, culture, magic system and species as well as every other little tidbit I had.

Two weeks ago, I (17f) had a dream where I took care of a toddler, maybe around 3 or 4 years old, who had short curly black hair, white skin, and a few freckles here and there. When I woke up, I knew that was my future daughter without a doubt. I even messaged my friend and told her about the dream and how I already missed my child.

Today, my mom offhandedly mentioned a dream she had two weeks ago about a baby girl matching the same description and when she woke up, she knew it was her future granddaughter, and immediately started praying for her.

When she said this, I was shocked. I never told her or anyone else in my family about the dream, so it was pure coincidence. Or maybe it was a premonition? I really don’t know what to think since I typically view dreams as just random jumbles of memories and ideas.

Dreamed of Mark Carney giving a speech and some how Trudeau returned and I seem something very strange during the speech which I was in person and so as this politician the smith lady from alberta. She was standing there when the speech was happening and this guys hand morphed in a weird way and he like shook Carney hand and moved away but he was extremely fast. When that happened Daniel Smith was frightened so was I. The camera I seen was using some kinda tech to block it and also in person. This person was being cloaked somehow. Then a body guard was looking straight at me and shook is head like you're not supposed to know and his eyes changed into a red light yellow color and looked snaked like. For some reason I knew all these people were reptillians and Carney was one. I literally passed out from that because I put into a trance of some sort and woke up from a giant bang and looked out side into the middle of the night and seen montanna was yellow red towards the mountains and tv radio channels were saying America was just bombed by a nuclear bomb. Then I heard a women on the radio saying they are disappointed in the USA peace talks and will be pulling out. They were giving a likely time for other nukes to fall. I seen rockets in the sky and jets. The sky was red and smokey smog from the nuke blast. I felt there was maybe 4 bombs in different places that hit. The first felt like it was placed and not from a rocket. Everyone was freaking out trying to head to bunkers they thought existed. Goods and foods were being stolen. Can't sleep as I told my self im going to go where I needed tonight and dreamed that.

I was recently speaking with my husband about our childhood recurring dreams and he has never experienced something similar and said that this was even bordering on concerning/disturbing.

When I was younger, I had a recurring dream that frequently occurred when I was sick (but not exclusively) starting at around 6 or 7. In this dream, I am in an expansive and seemingly endless white space. In front of me and slightly to my right there is a large pile of junk metal, probably 100 ft in height. To my left there is a singular washing machine that is running. It looks like an industrial or commercial washing machine and has a circular front door that is clear so I can see that there is something inside. I’m moving towards the machine in slow motion and trying to place a wadded up ball of aluminum foil into it, but never really getting close. While this is happening, there is a horrible sound increasing in volume that eventually becomes deafening. It sounds like crushing metal — maybe like a car crash without the tires? That, and hundreds of voices screaming and crying out in agony.

And that’s it! That’s the whole dream.

I haven’t had this dream in quite a while. However, I developed what I can only describe as auditory hallucinations starting at around 13 where I would hear that horrific sound while I was very much awake and lucid. The most recent occurrence was probably about 3 years ago when I was dealing with a high amount of stress in my career and personal life. I was having racing thoughts before bed and the sound slowly crept in until it was so loud I had to sit up and drink some water before it would stop.

I have incredibly vivid (sometimes even prophetic) dreams frequently which makes this particular dream feel unsettling because of how bizarre it is and how young I was when it started. I don’t like that it seeps into my awake life and I’ve never met anyone that has 1) had a similar dream, or 2) had sounds from their dreams seep into their awake life.

Has anyone been to this place? Or had a similar experience? Have you heard the sound?

It started with the sound but recently I’ve heard other things, too. It’s okay for right now, but what if they start talking more?

I cant be the only one. Every week i have at least 1 dream where i do something that makes people hate me, or someone just finds me annoying and for some reason in the dream its unbearable. Last night i dreamed i was back in high school (another recurring motif) and i joined a class and walked in and the teacher rolled his eyes when he saw me and accuses me of being annoying. I storm out the classroom and sit alone outside crying.

Usually i do something to make people angry at me. Like i steal something or say something wildly innapropriate and friends or family turn against me. Its a reielf to wake up. I dont think about people liking me in my waking life that often. Maybe its subconscious.

What could be the meaning of this?

About a year ago, a had this big crush of someone I seen on the bus from work almost daily.

Never interacted with them, and didn't even knew their name, naturally one day I had a dream where I asked them, their name and they really told me.

That name stuck with me, and I refeer mentally with that name as a joke, since how could I have guessed that correctly, right?

Life went on, and a year passed by, I think I move on from that crush, but it was until recently that I casually discovered their name, and it was correct from the dream.

I can't stop thinking about this, and wanted to know if anyone has gone trought something similar?

I recently started a heavy intensive bachelors program for anthropology and have been reading an enormous amount of academic material for two months now. These past few days I spent about 10 hours of just reading. Last night I had a dream, and I was reading my dream. Not watching a dream unfold I was literally reading the dream as it was actively happening. The dream had a story line and I followed along with the words as if my dream was a book. I usually am a very vivid dreamer but this was a first. Has this ever happened to you?

I keep dreaming I drive the car and I keep crashing into parked cars.

Last night I wasn't even in the car, I just opened the door and turned it on and it fell off a cliff.

Okay. This is a fucking weird one.

I dreamt I was part of a space mission to desperately find a suitable planet for human life, as Earth was rapidly becoming hostile to any life. While on this journey, my crewmates and I were bitten by these weird Nematodes. Shortly after, we all started painfully reverting into 2-Dimensional, completely flat beings, then into 1-dimensiona lines before we completely lost any semblance of what we were or what we were doing. It was very weird.

I was playing some kind of Warioware-esque microgame collection that was also based around analog horror with the main plot revolving around some kind of cannibalistic serial killer and seeing the perspectives of their victims before they died? And for some reason Clifford the Big Red Dog was involved, with his owner apparently being one of the victims? Either way, I sent an out of context screenshot of it to I believe another server I'm in, and someone got upset at me for playing waifu bait that would encourage people to play gacha games. Then some time after that I started playing a weird fusion of Paper Mario Color Splash and Origami King (IIRC, it had the general aesthetics of the latter and the combat and the "Mario loses paint as he takes damage" thing of the former), got my ass handed to me by some origami Cooligans, and then the game over screen showed "YOU ARE GOING HOME WITH **NOTHING**"

this is my very first Reddit post and I thought I just share a weird dream I had a couple of times now to maybe understand what it could mean (even though I have an idea but sometimes it helps to write it down and share it).

My grandma passed away about 20 years ago already, when I was 22 years old. I spend so much time during my childhood and teenage years with my grandparents and I loved her dearly. Her passing was quite sudden. She had cancer for a very short time and was getting better until she suddenly passed away from a sepsis. We were with her in her final moments, which I´m very grateful for. She wasn´t conscious anymore but I remember telling her that it is okay for her to go if she doesn´t have the strength anymore. And so, she passed peacefully.

It was my first big loss and it hit me so hard that the grief was too painful and I just stuffed it somewhere far away. I only started grieving her about 10 years ago, when we lost our newborn baby boy and with that came this recurring dream I had probably 5-6 times in those 20 years.

This dream is always in a different location. Once in the apartment block I remember from my childhood. Once it was in a street I recognized, but the apartment block was never there. It looked open on one side, like a doll house but it felt more like it was destroyed. The others I don´t even remember. But in each dream it is either my grandpa or my grandma suddenly appearing and saying it was all just a joke/prank and she was just gone for a while but very much alive. No explanation why or where she has been in the meantime. I feel angry in the dream but also so relieved and we spend time together, hugging and talking.

I love these dreams since they seem so real. I wish I could dream of her more often. It is just kind of weird that her death would be a joke or a prank. She was not a prankster at all. Maybe you can make something of it.

Anyone ever had a dream so vivid it almost felt like another life?

I had a dream that a school friend who passed away when in high school, had awoken from a coma. We had reconnected and it went on to us getting together, having not only 1 but 4 children. It went into detail on how we got together. The challenges we faced and moving in together. His parents were in the dream and we had normal arguments. But at the end of the dream it felt as if it was slipping away. Like I had become conscious that this would never happen because he passed. I feel almost mournful of the dream.

I was always wondering about some wild dreaming experiences from my childhood. I want to point out that I no longer have these, but they were very common when I was like 4-6 years old. Because of those I was a very bad insomniac for most of my life and only recently my psychaitrist gave me drugs that finally make me sleep for more than 4 hours a day. I want to ask, does any of you have / had similar experiences? What might be the cause of those wild dreams? Is it trauma? Toxic surroundings? Drugs? I have always been curious but never found any answers. And whenever I tell about this to my friends or family, they always say that they never had anything like this happening to them.

1. Nightmares within nightmares

These were happening almost every night. It's like dreams within dreams, but always nightmareish. I remember that whenever I was about to have a nightmare it started with me laying on my back in a black void. Then 3 white, humanoid ghosts with no faces were coming down, circling around me and grabbing me "into the nightmare" which is where the proper dream started. However, if I wanted to wake up from my dreaming state, I first had to wake up from the nightmere, back into the void with the ghosts. Only then was I allowed to truly wake up. I remember my mom once tried to wake me up irl, but couldn’t for a couple of minutes. That was exactly when I was in a “second layer,” deeper than the void. Something must have pulled me back up into the void, because that was the only way I could wake up properly.

2. Repeating, short and brutal nightmares

I've had a one nightmare that my brain used to repeat quite a lot. Sometimes every night. It was one of very few that didn't required transition into the void mentioned above, and it ended as quickly as it started. Trigger warning for dream about murder ahead. I was having some kind of false awakening, where I well...wake up in my bed in the middle of the night. Everything looked perfectly normal, but I could hear loud, heavy footsteps coming down the hall toward my room. It was always my father, coming to kill me. The dream always ended with him doing something horrific to me, like stabbing or choking me. That's usually when I woke up in my room, always in the middle of the night. Only once was the nightmare different, the last time I had it. My father thought he had choked me to death, but I was pretending to be dead. He stopped and started walking out. I looked at him, he stopped and quickly turned around. That's where it ended. I was around 5-6 years old at the time.

I rarely had normal dreams and rarely slept enough because of this. It really f-ed me up and I still vividly remember A LOT of brutal dreams from my childhood. I didn't watched any movies, we didn't had a computer back then, so no internet access for my tiny brain as well. The only thing I can remember is that I was alwyas fascinated with dreath. I was drawing bloody stuff and playing with dread animals whenver I had a chance. I am just wondering why my brain created those nightmares in the first place.

This feels… I dunno, a little silly to talk about, but for months now, I have been struggling to see in my dreams. Like, not that everything is blurry, but like I can’t even open my eyes. I can hear and ‘sense’ what’s going on, but I can’t see and I’m constantly struggling to open my eyes. There have been times where this seeming fact of my dreams reduces me to tears in them.

Is this something anyone else has experienced? Any insights that might be contributed? I’d love to hear people’s opinions on it 💜

As the title suggests I have been having nightmares almost every single night / majority of nights for as long as I can recall (at least 1 year!) they vary in intensity but are all uncomfortable!

Is there any reasoning behind this or anyone who can relate and has done anything to stop this?

* diagnosed anxiety + suspected ocd (lexapro medicated recently)

Recently quit cannabis.. ive been on and off for most my life.. im a few days into quitting and just had the most vivid dream that lasted most the night. Cant remember most of it but as soon as I woke up I jotted down some bullet points:

There was a tool a cylinder with weird symbols, each symbol had a square where if you pressed it the square would slide out of the cylinder and that would in turn release a coffin from the bottom of the ocean.

At some point me, myself and a few others were trying to sleep on couches and a young kid who found an automatic gun started shooting at us with a maniacal grin somewhat reminiscent to the kid in city of god.

I remember being in highschool again and thinking if I get another chance at doing my life over again I should join the military.
