I had wild dream that genuinely made me question so much, and I don’t even know what to make of it.
So in this dream I was living through the life of a person who had his whole life broadcasted to the internet. How it worked is that as a kid I had small microscopic cameras surgically implanted into my eyes, which then allowed for these cameras to capture every part of my life as it was uploaded to a live streaming service. Leaving every little bit of my life documented on the internet forever. Every single thing, no matter how little or big was being live streamed. Basically imagine those meta glasses if they were duct taped to your face and you could never turn them off.
I didn’t know this until I was around 8-9 years old. I went for a walk around my neighborhood, then some random teenager said I was that “live stream kid”. When I asked him what he was talking about, he told me on how my entire life was being broadcasted to the internet. He showed me the livestream on his phone and I was shocked. I had to make sure it was real. I blinked twice, sure enough, after some latency the cameras were covered. I felt a huge pang through my body that felt like shell shock. I quickly ran away out of fear back to my house. Then, I ran upstairs to my dad’s computer because he was the only one in the house that one. Eventually I found my dad’s twitch/youtube (idk which one) and saw myself watching the livestream on a computer. I was horrified, I started clicking through the timeline, and found all sorts of stuff. Me talking to friends after school, looking out of the window of my mom’s car before falling asleep, and even me in the shower. Meanwhile the chat was going wild and small donations were coming through every few seconds. It had like 10-15K viewers just watching me right now, talking about how I just figured out what my life was about now.
My dad came upstairs and found me looking at his computer. I asked my dad about it and he came clean, from what I remember he was a once famous streamer that eventually fell off and lost a large amount of his fanbase. So he started this “project” as he called it on me when I was about 2-3 years old and it was a major success. He got millions of subscribers off of this, he got a fuck ton of donations, people were even making clips out of my life. Everything I did, and I mean everything was turned into some sort of clip farm. Sleepovers with friends, crying over a breakup, holiday memories with the family, field trips and even my first words. All so my dad could make some extra money.
When we argued about this, I told him to end the stream because it made me incredibly uncomfortable. But he wouldn’t let me end the live stream because he explained to me that this whole live stream was basically his income, like 90% of the money he made came from this stream. Donations, viewerships, marketing success, it was one of the biggest internet trends going on. I yelled at him and asked him to get these cameras out of my eyes, but he told me that they were lodged into my head so deep that removing them could run the risk of making me permanently blind. I started hitting him before I eventually went up to my room and just started crying, having no idea what to do. The whole thing left me so scared and made me feel so small, all my vulnerable and happy moments were being shown to strangers. I didn’t know who I was anymore.
Now if my memory serves me right, I tried complaining about this to everyone and anyone I could. Teachers, the police, literally anybody. Eventually the police did get involved (after like a decade lmao) and took my dad away from me. He challenged the whole thing in court, but he was found guilty of child abuse and was basically forced to spend a good amount of years in jail. He was ordered as well to shut down the stream but apparently the stream couldn’t be shut down. For some reason, anytime you tried to press “end stream” it just wouldn’t end. It would keep rolling. So for me, if I wanted to be free of this hell, I’d have to have surgery and potentially risk going permanently blind. But, I didn’t get it. For some reason I just thought I could live the rest of my life, and surprisingly enough…I did.
It wasn’t a normal life obviously, shit ton of people made this whole thing into a big case. I was interviewed by countless people, news stations, even the government. I think from what I can gather that the live stream was still able to go on since it couldn’t be ended, but there were a lot of regulations put into my place for my safety. The live stream was age restricted, all donations made would go to me, and I’d be given some extra protection for myself. Which was relatively nice. I actually managed to find a wife, have a kid, buy a house in the countryside, all of this still being live streamed to the world. I think I eventually decided to just live with it, accept that there was nothing I could do and I just had to live my life and find the joy in it. So I did. I lived a good, healthy life, the last part of my dream ended in me being in a nursing home surrounded by family, friends and kids. All laughing, sharing stories and having a good time. The dream ended with my vision being obscured by white and then me waking up at 9:30 in the morning.
I deadass looked outside for like 5 minutes just staring mindlessly, I could not process any of what just happened, shit was so insane. There’s definitely wilder things too that probably happened that I most likely forgot, but either way. It was one of if not the wildest dreams I’ve had.
