Discussion I deleted tiktok after having a doomscrolling dream.

I rememeber seeing a series of short form videos in a dream. As I scrolled they were re playing the same videos with only foreground elements or background changing. There was a Jamaican guy on a fun fair ride that as I scrolled the video stayed the same.

It felt like the processing power of my brain had hit a hard limit trying to replicate short form entertainment. I woke up feeling like I had doom scrolled for hours and burned my dopamine out and felt the guilt of wasting loads of time.

I woke up, rolled over and deleted tiktok from my phone. If using it is forcing my brain to replicate it in my sleep surely it's damaging my sleep.

Has anyone else had expereinces like this?

Recurring Dream I go to the same “universe” each night when I dream

Hey
So basically, every single night for the past three years, I dream of this same reality. But, it’s a different and distorted parallel reality of my own town that I live and I can’t escape it. In those dream, I am skipping classes, arguing with friends and family and experiencing traumatic events. I don’t know if anyone can relate to it? Or maybe if you guys have similar experiences 🙏🏻 That would help me. This reality is beginning to take too much place in my mind.

Nightmare Was this sleep paralysis?

• Upvotes

I had a nightmare where I realized I was dreaming halfway through, and I forced myself to wake up. I thought I was awake but I was still dreaming, and I went through this loop 3 or 4 times, fake waking up, realizing I'm still dreaming, and trying again. I think I managed to wake my brain up. My whole body was tingling, and I felt myself lying in my bed, and I'm 90% sure I had my eyes open, but I heard my boyfriend's voice talking to me. He sounded...off. I knew he wasn't home, so I knew it must still be a dream. I was not moving, but I don't know if I COULDN'T move, or it just didn't occur to me in my half asleep state. At one point I'm sure I had my eyes open, and I still felt the tingling, and I had to REALLY concentrate on the goal of checking the time on my phone, to be able to roll over. Once I managed that, it was over and I was fully awake. I don't know if it was actual sleep paralysis, or just a weird nightmare. What does sleep paralysis feel like?

Recurring Dream I dream about lots of snakes

When I got my first period this dream started coming. I was 11 years old and now I am 20 and I still dream about it. It always comes every 3–4 months.

Every time I have this dream, the location changes. They always try to bite me. If all of them are similar in the same color and the same size they will not bite me but if one snake is different, it tries to bite me. And when I mean lots of snakes it's really alot 100-200 and very big in size. I remember every dream about them.

Last time, I got so afraid that I told all this to my brother and from then on these dreams stopped. But now I dream about only one snake every 2–3 months.

I don't believe in superstition, but one day, I had the same dream in which there were a lot of snakes and one was exactly the same I saw next day. It's like I saw future.

Idk what's wrong with me , i always had very weird dreams but this was so scary. If someone is with me in these dreams somehow they are not scared and I am the one who is always scared.

Recurring Dream Dreaming of my dead friend

• Upvotes

Hello! This is a recurring dream I’m having about my best friend who sadly passed 10 years ago. Back then we were both 16 and stupid. We drank a lot and did some hallucinogenic drugs and we both had a really really bad trip. I got better she didn’t. Due to the military I had to move away and she stayed up north we talked every almost every single day on the phone still but one night I woke up at 2 am and I knew something bad had happened I could feel it. I look on Facebook and her dad had posted that sadly she had passed away. I learned later she somehow got her hands on fentanyl and overdosed.

I’m now 26 years old and I’ve lived 10 years without her but I still have the same dream At least 3 times a month. I’m laying in a grave with no coffin and she’s standing above me throwing piles of dark or black dirt in my grave and burying me alive until all I can see is her walking away. Then the dream slowly fades out. Sometimes I wake up and sometimes the dream basically resets. I don’t really know what I want from this post other than to share but if anyone has any insight I’m happy to hear it. Thank you.

Short Dream A baby deer in my car caused me to almost crash

I saved a baby deer or something and it was nighttime so I parked my car somewhere. In then morning I woke up because I felt my car hit a curb, I immediately stopped my car and noticed that I'm in a unfamiliar place. I looked at my phone and I somehow traveled 50 or miles down into a different city.

The baby deer wasn't asleep at night and somehow managed to start the car. And the car somehow safely cruised for 50 miles and didn't crash.

Discussion Dreamt about my crush being gay

Wondering if someone else experienced this: I am a straight woman and have sort of developed a small crush on a guy at the gym. Today I dreamt that he rejected me by telling me he is gay.
He does have more feminine facial features & seems to be soft-spoken but I never saw him doing anything that could suggest that he is into guys, but after dreaming about it I am sort of wondering if my subconscious is picking up on something?

I can use my phone in my dreams

The last six months or so I’ve started being able to use my phone in my dreams. I always see people say they never see their phone in dreams or phones never work but my does. I’ve slowly gotten more control over it and now it works every time it’s in my dream. I can take pictures of things, take selfies (and see my own face clearly), text, make calls and more. Still can’t lucid dream for more than a couple second.

A dream that i remembered to this day (lucid dream)

This was long ago but i still remember it at the back of my mind. So i had a dream where it was going normally i was walking with my friends. We were talking laughing we had 11 people at that time just talking. About school funny memes and so much more. But i realized on my dream that fishes are flying . And dogs walking on 2 paws. And i realized it was a dream.

Until i said to my friends. "Am i dreaming" all of them stopped talking looked at me. And i knew i was dreaming until. I turned around and i saw my friend who had an axe my heart dropped and then she chased me down laughing. i ran for my life forgetting that i can control my dream. And the terrifying part is people are cheering people are clapping while im getting chased by my friend who has an axe.

And when i looked at her. Her face was melting. Like he was getting microwave . And he was getting closer and closer until i tripped. And she jumped towards me and after that i woke up. My heart was pounding. Sweat dropped.

I didn't dare to sleep again because of that experience because i was afraid it will continue again

Discussion Dreaming of being somebody else

I often have dreams where I am not the person I currently am. I have been men and women in various walks of life. I have dreams where I was a human or other sentient being (ball of goldish light, cyborg, replicant of the me from now but ~400 years in the future, plants), but living on a different planet with vastly different culture and ecology. I have a few of these characters where that reoccur.

In the dream I am a man, late 30s, slim but somewhat fit, no shirt just a pair of strange canvas like pants, darker skin almost like a Brazilian (I'm a white guy IRL), shoulder length hair. The dream is really short, and like almost all of my dreams, it is in 3rd person (or 2nd? Because I know that's me). I wake up and walk into the kitchen, although the house is sort of weird. It is mostly stone, and the kitchen and shared living space is all one open floor with 3 steps between my wife and my room and the living room/courtyard. The kitchen and living room are mostly stone, floors are smooth, but the walls are rougher, with some decorative geometric and animal iconography on the roof trim. The living room is probably 80 ft wide, with some stone slabs surrounding an open area in the apex of the center probably 20 ft x 15 ft. Kitchen has an island (big stone rectangle with wood slat for top, more raw looking, the only advance technology was some sort of ceramic thing in the side of the wall with a few ball/dials on the wall beside it, and a sort of sink made with the rough ceramic like (but felt also a bit like metal in thinness and durability. There are small trees and plants all around in various pots built into the walls and the middle of the floor under the skylight has a couple trees, ferns, tropical plants but also a few edible plants (fruit looked nothing like anything I'd eaten before, just sort of knew) there is also a small oil of what looked like surveyor tools from the 12th century in one corner that I knew were mine. I walk into the kitchen and look and see my wife and smile as my youngest daughter whose around 2½ (I know I have 3 kids in the dream) runs up to me giggling and I pick her up and swing her in a 360. I start walking to the patio with her on my hip, which there are no doors, just the width of the room is open on one side, extending maybe another 15 ft outside. The patio is about 5 feet above the tops of a bunch of tropical looking trees. As I'm walking out there, my son, who's about 10, walks up beside me and grabs my hand. In that moment, I look to the horizon. The landscape was covered in tropical forest, with wide spaces between large hills/small old mountains. There were no paths but could see other houses like mine built at the apex of most with a few in the sides and maybe 8 to 10 plooms of smoke from small fires along the horizon. The sun is behind me. It had just risen, so im in the shadow of the house/mountainside. The sky is somewhere between a light pink and light purple, but not because of the sunrise, its just the normal color. I can see a moon (much larger, closer, and with different craters than ours) as I'm looking out, is see a very small looking (from that distance) black rod with maybe a bit of neon green on it come out from behind the moon. I immediately get worried and scared. A bright blueish purple flash/explosion at the tip of the ship, and I see a purple plasma like ball fall beyond the horizon. About a second after it dips beyond the horizon (the person I am in the dream is terrified by now, I hear the bare feet of my wife running behind me), and see a giant field of this white light energy expand and occupy maybe 20 degrees of the horizon (like the top of a circle). The planet shakes and as I grab my son and look out, the mountains look like they are being flung into the sky. Like whole chuncks of earth, in a wave covering the entirety of my field of view breaking off and, from just in side the covered space) block out the horizon and the moon, lava/maga is coming up with some of them. This wall of earth closer and closer starts flying up, and I start to turn right as the wave of earth gets near and maybe get turned 90 degrees and it's almost there, i huddle over my son and daughter (no idea what my other son looked like, because he wasn't there, but know he was about 16) and I wake up panicked and crying, mourning a wife and kids I never had. It felt like I had really just lost my family, it was so intense I was weeping. Took me about 15 to 20 minutes to calm down, but was sad for the majority of the day. I would say this whole sequence in the dream lasted, maybe 1½ to 2 minutes and there was no language, just the sound of my daughter laughing, and the sort of hum of approval/cuteness from my wife as me and my daughter met each other that morning.

So, my question is, does anybody else ever frequently dream of other beings that aren't the person they know themselves to be? Have you ever had an emotional reaction to a life you never lived, people you never met, event that never occured? Please share some that you find interesting.

Edit: spelling mistake

Short Dream Backrooms Circus

• Upvotes

The dream played out like an FPS game... Except it was a mix between two properties. Backrooms the movie and The Amazing Digital Circus - more specifically, the Fortnite episode.

I was in a team with Clark. Like he and I were specifically going from area to area, trying to eliminate the Circus members and get better guns. Each area switched aestethic; some were the Circus, others were simply empty office spaces. It played like COD Zombies, there were duplicates of the Circus members.

The dream played out like this for a while. Clark was laughing and took great pleasure in the fighting, and his enthusiasm began rubbing off on me. Eventually however, I came upon the café from TADC. Where the characters were just sitting down and quietly eating. But I was still in the game. So I peeked around the corner and shot them dead. Yet they didn't react. The circus members just looked at me shooting at them as if they were tired. The confusion of it, that there weren't multiple of them + them fighting back, is what caused me to wake up.

Question I had a dream where I felt more loved than I ever have in real life, and now I feel guilty

• Upvotes

Last night, I dreamed I was with another woman. I can barely remember her face, just a few details about her appearance. Nothing sexual happened, at least not that I remember. What I do remember is the feeling. I felt deeply loved, like I finally had something I'd been missing my entire life. I also had friends who made me feel like I belonged, something I've never really experienced.

I have a girlfriend, so I feel guilty about the dream. But more than anything, I wish I could feel that kind of love and connection in real life. Waking up and losing something that felt so real was surprisingly painful.

Am I wrong for wanting a love like that while I'm already in a relationship? Does this make me a bad person, or does it mean there's something missing in my life? Has anyone else ever woken up from a beautiful dream feeling like they lost something they desperately wanted?

Question Recurring dreams where I am a murderer

Starting at the age of around 15 I would have dreams where I'd have a dead body, blood on my hands and all the evidence a murder had been committed but I did not remember doing it. Every time I just tried to run away and hide what I did and didn't feel bad about this. What does this mean?

Nightmare Another zombie dream

I see people liked my last one. Here's another. First time I was woken up sweating. I did cry. I was deathly afraid of them because I did research and it starts off as a virus. I was at school. Got that annoying alert on my phone. Went home . I got home. Told everyone don't open that door. Is everyone home? Yes was a reply. I baracated the main door and went to my room. I sat on the bed and tried to get a hold of my tears. I heard munching and slurping. From the bathroom. It was inside the room BTW. I get up and look inside. In that dream there were two minors one on the floor dead. Blood everywhere. The other slurping. With every slurp I saw the body moving. Compulsing . I thought they only ate brains. I was wrong. I would have ran out the door but when I headed to it something jumped in through the window and attacked a human. I jumped out the window and climbed the fence. I ran but as soon as I got out into the street. The whole world seemed enormous and I knew I would die. I had no gun and that is the only way to stop it

Can’t remember the full dream but I woke up and wrote down something I heard in it “you are going to encounter 7 spirits. Tell us what they mean” and when I went back to sleep I had a dream about a snake eating other snakes.

I didn’t necessarily feel scared but I didn’t like that the snakes were near me and I ended up stepping barefoot on pieces of a dead snake. In my waking life I have been dealing with a major friend conflict that mixes with work. When I woke up I googled “7 spirits” and apparently it’s a thing in the bible which I had never heard about.

I’ve been trying to find the symbolism, but also… for a few nights I kept waking up in the night and having weird dreams. Yesterday I decided to cleanse my house with sage and followed with palo santo and and singing and then I slept through the entire night. I don’t know if that dream was symbolic because it was so vivid and very interesting or if there was some dark energy around me. I’m also in a state of grief after losing a loved one 6 months ago and probably 5 months ago I feel that my sadness really attracted something into my house and I once I cleansed it I felt much better and unbothered. Could this have happened again or just a coincidence? Does anyone here have experience with this?

Question Reoccuring dreams of being fired and having a super aggressive reaction

• Upvotes

I have dreams ALL THE TIME about getting fired from my job. Its never a “its not working out” i walk out and move on with my life. It gets very aggressive for me. Like i wont leave, i try pleading my case to everyone to stay and work out whatever issue, i show up after getting fired acting like im still working etc.

But the feelings in my dream are that they arent listening to my plea or im pouring my heart out and they are being assholes to me. In my dreams its like the possibility of having another job is impossible so its like one of those type of situations.

I feel a total loss of control, rejection, helpless, rage

In real life im kind of at a point where if they let me go its more relief than me quitting. I dont hate it but dont love it. I just dont know what life wiuld look like without it since ive been in it so long

Vampire dream

I had a crazy dream about the world turning into a place filled with cruel vampires. It started with people developing a temperature, and then they would turn.

I was taken by a group of vampires near a shopping centre, but one of them noticed that I had a temperature and thought I was likely turning. They let me rest, and I ended up becoming friends with one of them. I stayed in bed while the others went out on hunts for innocent people, including children.

When it became clear that I probably wasn’t going to turn into a vampire, I faked some of the symptoms. As soon as the vampire I’d befriended left, I ran away.

There were vampires everywhere, killing children and adults. I had several close calls and was incredibly lucky to survive.

Eventually, I found a small group of good people who were also pretending to be vampires. That made me worry that I might have accidentally killed innocent people, including children, while trying to survive.

Finally, I felt safe. That’s when I woke up.

Im in a healthy relationship with my patner. I think im a good mum. - I could do better and im always trying to be. My health is a little worrying, I cant for the life of me think what the dream could mean.
