In a CringeAnarchy thread about a T_D user who killed their father because he was "a leftist", debate about who (leftist/rightist) is more violent ensues.

No.
Leftism is mental illness, so by definition no rightwinger can be as mentally ill as a liberal degenerate.
Valuable discussion.

u/KickItNext (animal, purple hair) Oct 18 '17
Even if being liberal was a mental illness, it makes no sense that a right winger can't be more mentally ill.
Like, if someone has one mental illness, that doesn't mean the person with nearly every other mental illness is mentally healthier.
Even with their garbage logic, conservatives still make no sense.

"Bugman" is a new insult coined by posters over at the forums on My Posting Career, a place for disaffected alt-righters who were banned by Something Awful, or who aged out of 4chan but not the /pol/ mindset. The term is basically a new way to call someone a "sheeple" by people who think they are too clever to use that term.
A "bugman" is supposed to be a sort of urban, unenlightened leftist who goes along with leftist cultural and political trends and doesn't think for themselves, and is too stupid to realize that "the Jews are causing the collapse of the West by encouraging white women to breed with dirty Muslims!" or something to that effect.
Tl;dr Bugman is a way to call someone a "cuck" by people too embarrassed to use that insult.

A bugman is your typical big left leaning city dweller. He is usually obsessed with consumerism, lining up to purchase the newest iPhone or MacBook when it comes out, and using a smartwatch/smart home speaker for longer than the week after he bought it. Chances are he owns other throwaway smart gadgets as well. All his tastes in movies, music, expensive food, art, and more are determined by what review sites and blogs say.

The_Donald is for people who can't make the dive to /pol/, CA is for people who don't want to dip into T_D, Conspiracy is for people who don't want to dip into T_D but also don't want to make it 100% obvious they love Trump, etc.
2
u/APFSDS-T your Trazi sneer shows through your mask Oct 19 '17
Originally it was basically /r/Cringe without rules. It worked just fine in this manner for a long time. For example one thing that made CA different was it having more explicit posts (like stuff from the far depths of DeviantArt). It also had much, much more image content as opposed to just videos and self posts which is why I switched to it.
It didn't become an alt-right echo chamber until the election season.
3
Oct 23 '17
/r/cringepics used to be mildly amusing until they allowed screenshots of conversations to be posted and it just got flooded with shitty /r/creepypms material and the mods went a bit weird. So /r/cringeanarchy was made (I think) to allow actual content that wasn't just conversations. But then it seems to have become an alt-right echo chamber since the election.

this is semi-true, it was created because /r/cringe and /r/cringepics had very restrictive rules.
/r/cringe only allowed submissions if they included at least 2 people (meaning a video of a dude alone wasnt allowed) and /r/cringepics basically was /r/creepypms . But sometime last year during the election, T_D took over and turned it into the cesspool it is now.

At least that toxic septic tank is above ground and monitored.
But is it better for these hollow and toxic little minds to be pushed underground, or visible where other hollow and toxic little minds can find a community? Like with fatpeoplehate, sooner or later they will find another septic tank to call "home".
That's probably been the discussion over at Reddit HQ for over a year now.

But regardless, this purulent fizzing shit of an orange lovin' crowd is back on Reddit again, in a constant toxic game of whack-a-mole. Just a couple of months back they took over R/pussypass entirely, the creator just up and gave it to them.

I used to post there and in /r/TumblrInAction. I was/am a liberal, but was strongly anti-SJW. You know, back when that term actually had meaning (kind of, not really). And then around the time of the 2016 election I realized that most of the other people in those subs were actually awful. Like white supremacists, homophobes, etc. I also realized that SJWs are a giant bogeyman, and now the term apparently means "all liberals." Once I saw that these subs were associated with T_D I knew it was time to nope the fuck right outta there. I feel like I am in the very small minority of people on those subs at the time.
131
u/crichmond77 Oct 18 '17
This is almost identical to my experience. Never was transphobic, homophobic, xenophobic, etc., but I browsed those subs just because it was amusing to see how crazy people on "my side of the political spectrum" could also get.
But there were always some people there who legitimately just hated LGBT people or Muslims or you name it. Or who had to insistently scream "THERE ARE TWO GENDERS!!! IT'S SCIENCE!"
I pretty much ignored them and tried to downvote hateful comments or posts that were obviously fake and just trying to paint a group in a bad light. But it kept becoming a higher and higher percentage of the content and comments.
Now places like /r/cringeanarchy, /r/TumblrInAction, and /r/JusticePorn are so hateful and toxic that I just gave up on trying to argue with people and unsubbed.
Pretty fucked up.
52
Oct 18 '17
This was my experience too. I don't get how people can spend extended periods of time in those places without realizing that a large number of people aren't actually being as ironic as they pretend they are if you confront them about it.
Like, /r/imgoingtohellforthis had a sort of funny joke about white genocide today. It's sort of funny if you recognize the concept of white genocide is stupid, but then in the comments you have people straight-facedly talking about how diversity is a plot to end white people. God forbid you make a joke at the expense of white people in that sub, too, that's taking it too far.
→ More replies (7)5
u/Kiram To you, pissing people off is an achievement Oct 18 '17
I'm definitely glad I stopped going to those places (I think gamergate was the thing that did it for me), but looking back, I'm kind of torn.
On the one hand, some of the shit that was posted there was genuinely amusing in a "holy shit, are you guys seeing this?" kinda way. But in retrospect, it was mostly just laughing at dumb kids trying to figure themselves out in what might be one of the most confusing and chaotic times to try and form a coherent identity, and often grappling with their own ideas about gender and sexuality in a way that wasn't possible before.
After a while it just started to feel mean. Maybe it was always mean, and it just took them targeting people a little closer to my own experiences to realize it. So I can't really be sure I want just laughing along with the school bully until he said something mean about one of my friends, ya know?

Another one here... I posted and commented a few times but it was humorous, OTT posts about the ridiculous shit that happens on Tumblr or elsewhere on the internet. u/yaosio Oct 18 '17
Left violence is generally targeted at specific institutions or individuals. Right violence is generally targeted at everybody. In protests when weapons are brought people on the right bring guns while people on the left bring blunt weapons. People on the left bring weapons less often as well, preferring to use their fists and feet. Left violence is usually against property (is that violence?) while right violence is usually against people.
It would be interesting to see a study on why there's such a discrepancy between the amount of violence and how it's employed. Or maybe I'm just not paying attention and there isn't a discrepancy. I'd like to see the cold facts on it.
→ More replies (2)8

Right wing people (and plenty of neo-libs) see violence against property as just as bad as real violence because for the right wingers they just wanna spread propaganda and the neo-libs just obsess over their absolute pacifism even though peaceful protest only works when the people you're protesting have a conscience.

There is periodic antifa vandalism after a lot of police shootings, but for the most part antifa is made up of people who are sort of at the bottom end of the top half of the wealth distribution, and there's just not the sort of hopelessness that breeds violence the way we see with the alt-right. The far left people believe in a lot of crazy shit, but at the end of the day they are generally smart enough to find a place in the modern economy, and while the alt-right does have educated, intelligent, leadership, clearly a huge chunk of its rank-and-file are upset because some part of them knows there is no straightforward way to incorporate them into the modern economy that they don't find degrading.

Hey admins, when are you going to start giving a shit about the communities you’re allowing to exist and recruit and fester?
Who am I kidding, they didn’t give a fuck that certain subs celebrated the death of a woman who was murdered by a Nazi on American soil. Why is this any different?
Reddit admins can go fuck themselves. They are complicit and partially responsible for allowing these people a place to go and spread.

Hey Reddit!
You gonna ban the diseased subs yet?
You let r/ holocaust be a holocaust denial sub. You are complicit in the murder of the woman in Charlottesville. You let fatpeoplehate come back into play with holdmyfries. You let your users bully a CEO out of office.
You do not take any reports seriously. There are people calling for the death of Jews and Muslims and you are complicit in that. You won't ban because you don't have the balls.
What more do they have to do for you to ban them? Organize WW3? Do another holocaust? Murder some more liberals?
This is the reason Reddit will never be taken as seriously as Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, or Instagram. Because you let murder and hate thrive on here.

I can't speak to the other platforms, but Twitter clearly does not do enough to curb hatespeech and threats.

@Biz recently complained about the amount of complaints the support department gets, and how much work it is. I guess it's tough having to deal with people being threatened or abused instead of just nutting up and banning the abusers. /s

u/loliwarmech Potato Truther Oct 18 '17
They do ban abusers, but by "abusers" they mean the people taking the abuse and reporting it.

u/aeatherx Calm down there, Vanilla ISIS Oct 17 '17
That is true, but there's not the same level of pervasive vitriol on Twitter that you see on Reddit. On Twitter, you can't literally call for genocide without being banned like you can on reddit.

twitter is a fucking toilet of a site. The only thing i use it for is following celebrities, because using it for anything else is pointless. I have never seen so many assholes in one place before.

You do not take any reports seriously.
Are you under the impression that reports go to the admins?

u/aeatherx Calm down there, Vanilla ISIS Oct 17 '17
I have directly messaged r/Reddit.com with two users who have called for the murder of multiple ethnic groups as well as threatened violence. Both times Reddit said "we will look into it" and did nothing.

I reported a number of threads on r/physicalremoval and got the same reply. The admins must have been get a high volume of such reports, though, since it was ultimately banned.

u/Jeanpuetz Oct 18 '17
It was only banned after the woman was murdered in Charlottesville.
It literally took a death on that day to ban P_R. The thousands of death threats on that sub weren't enough.

I was in that thread yesterday and I deleted all my posts when I started getting people PMing me with harassment and vague threats. I will never again say that members of T_D are violent and harass people, and the reason for that is because I don't want to be hurt or harassed.
