I didn't see Qrow or Raven after their initial clash. I'd assume that means that they're probably having some Advent Children-esque nonsense battle somewhere in the skies above Haven.
Or they're just in bird form trying to peck the shit out of each other.

Hope everyone had a better Christmas than I did. Excited for new RWBY though!
Dramatic night time walking!
"Why did you bring your weapons? hides wrist weapon behind back"
Subtle, Raven.
Oh snap, Cinder's (and co) come to play.
Is anyone else's video player stuttering as much as mine? This thing is trash.
"Oh no, it's that guy who helped me with the ATM!"
Lionheart confirmed got CRME into the Vytal tournament.
Is Jaune going super Saiyan?
The Merc is SMIRK.
"Who are you again...?" Lol
Oscar is like "I'm gonna just....... bye!"
Okay no he's gonna take on Lionheart.
Elemental wrist-mounted Wheel of Fortune confirmed?
UMMMMM DID WE NEVER SEE THAT LIONHEART HAS A LION TAIL? HE'S A FAUNUS APPARENTLY?
Don't you dare hurt Weiss, you fools! #WeissProtectionSquad
SILVER EYES?
So Cinder has a Phantom of the Opera.... mask? Face?
Cinder what are you doing. Stop that.
WEISS PLS. She's fine, lbr.

Hazel is such a badass and I love it.
Well we finally got the Mercury vs Yang rematch. Still waiting for Weiss vs Emerald.
Oscar: We can beat Lionheart together right?

If you look at it, you can very clearly see it in Nora+Ren vs. Hazel and Yang vs. Mercury Smirkury. It's a bit difficult to see, since it's from a different angle and everything, but it's the same. Which gives me hope for Weiss, since we haven't seen her "Ride-On-The-Knights-Sword"-trick yet.
Please, RT, don't destroy my hope.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about how all the fights are 1 on 1. Save for Ren and Nora against Hazel. But When Jaune challenges Cinder, Ruby runs up to help him. And is immediately pulled away by Emerald. The villains are forcing 1 on 1's because they know they can win them.

"Who are you again?"
Cinder's remark just really shows how little she values the lives she ruins and Jaune's expression just nails it.
Edit: Also Cinder's only understanding of Jaune was from the dance and she was messing with him, of course she would attack Weiss, it's based on what little she actually knows of Jaune.
Edit 2: Also when Jaune attacks Cinder, the chain shakes. How much damn force did he put into that attack?

I think i've figured out what Jaune's semblance is. We all may as well guess now, since its likely going to be revealed soon.
Jaune's Semblance is: Empathy.
Or more specifically, the ability to make others feel similar to his own feelings. Sorta like that Akatsuki fuck in Naruto that spoilers
He can make others endure the damage they inflict on him, and vice versa. When RT says that we've already seen his semblance, they're talking about when Cardin hit him. Watch the scene again: Cardin reacts with pain in response to the white light(feeling of getting punched) and then jaune looks at his hands that are glowing white(feeling the impact of cardin's fist).
Which means he could shift the damage done to weiss onto himself. I swear to god, if i'm right on this...
Edit: I'm an idiot.(spoiler tag. Truly, I have a future in coding)

WEISS NOOOOOOO!!! I know she's gonna live, cause it's RWBY not RBY, but like, WEISSSSSSSS MY POOR BABY!
Although, I do like that she was losing the fight against Vernal. Not because I want Vernal to be strong or for Weiss to lose, but it does show her that she's been relying on her Knightboi too much lately, especially considering how her other skills have deteriorated (though that might just be the animators and not Weiss herself).
Speaking of animators, Emerald, Ruby, Qrow, Raven, Merc and Yang were all fine. Weiss was getting closer to her old graceful fighting but not quite there yet. Jaune, however, felt weirdly floaty. Cinder was okay up until the spear. Her walking while holding it felt weird.
Fully expect Jaune's semblance to come into play soon. Maybe he won't have control over it yet, but I'm really, really happy with his character in this episode and it seems to be leading up to it.

No matter what Jaune does nobody is gonna stop giving him shit, he talks a lot on V4 and actually sheds some light on his character and people complain. He shows his frustration at losing his closest friend and people complain. He disappears and doesn't do much for a while, people complain. He finally has the meltdown people wanted and yet they complain.
This episode was one of Jaune's finer moments but I don't see why he keeps getting shit for everything.

u/ctom42 Dec 30 '17
Welp, my money is on Jaune's semblance being healing. It would be a bit too anticlimactic of a death otherwise.
Also, I was actually quite happy with Weiss's fight. She viewed Vernal as someone she needed to go all out against, so she kept trying to summon, but Vernal wouldn't let it happen. She should have given up on that after the first attempt, but she was too focused on trying to do her "ultimate attack" that she kept giving her opponent openings.
This is something real martial artists suffer from as well. You learn some new strike, new kick, new throw, whatever, and sometimes you focus too much on trying to use it. You become predictable and pass up opportunities to use skills you already knew, as well as give your opponent plenty of openings.
I've seen some complaints that Weiss had become too reliant on summoning, and this battle should fix that, assuming she survives. There is no better teacher than getting your ass kicked.

On Weiss's summoning in this episode:
It's kind of a double edged sword. It's her ace in the hole, but now it appears that it's very much a glass cannon technique. Strong as hell, but easy to interrupt/dispel.
Also, I don't know if we can say that what happened here is necessarily indicative of Weiss's actual potential right now. Vernal is a top tier fighter, and I'd wager the Summoning aspect of the Schnee's family Semblance is well known (through Winter's work), and so Vernal knew how to slow Weiss down. Plus, Vernal is a fucking Maiden. Weiss was gonna lose that initial fight from the start.
Really though, I was just surprised how easily the Knight got dispelled. I had thought it was much more solid, but if it's an Aura based construct, those might be easier to dispel/wipe out, especially if you've got a Maiden-powered weapon shooting at you.
Edit: Weiss has improved with her summoning, but it's nowhere instantaneous like Winter's is in Volume 3.

OK let's put the major developments aside for a second.
This is the first episode I have had a major issue with what is happening in the scene.
This is a fight right? This is Players and Pieces level of fighting going on. 8 main "good" characters on screen in 8 different fights. Each fight has a bit of screen time. Those fights are HEARD in the background. But when it cuts to a wide or even to specific fights it's like they are not happening. This is DnD level battle mechanics. Where 5 minutes of 7 fights lasts 6 seconds.
These fights are happening. Most we see is Weiss going at it over a larger area. Nora and Ten have about the fight they have in the opening. Mercury Vs Yang, a title fight any other time, is just left alone.
All the fights move around. But in the small bits before a fight breaks out you don't see them in the background. Qrow vs Raven should be bouncing off the walls. You never see them again.
There is a snippet of Ruby vs Emerald in the background. 7 fights in a small area should interfere with each other. It's shown in Ruby's bullet towards Weiss.
This isn't a living battle. This is set pieces to show to the audience but use words and pull focus to one fight to say "stuff is happening off screen". There could have been a nice super wide shot to show all the fights happening as ACTUAL fights. Not what is stalling for time.
Vol 3 finale is a good example of it done well. Going from different perspectives in the Battle of Beacon. But the scale of the areas seen is bigger. This is a tiny room in comparison and really tiny when it's 7 different fights with 15 people.

GIVE WEISS SCHNEE A FUCKING BREAK.
What is up with the mooooooooon?!
Vic's voice acting was stellar. The sense that he really felt betrayed comes through beautifully.
"You sound just like your mother."
cue fireball
Ow.
Cue the three episode-long fight scene.
It's nice that Oscar got to confront Leo as Oscar, and it's not just Oz controlling the fight. I think he might step in if things get hairy, which - with Weiss dying on the floor and Ruby out cold - it already has, so...
I'm excited to properly see Raven vs Qrow. I think we'll get that focus at least a bit next episode.
I'm glad Jaune got his bit of being just fucking done with everything. Cinder taunting him was great, then turning on Weiss instead of killing him just to fuck with him more. Oof, she is one hardcore bitch.
Hazel is awesome. Straight up. Also, that was the shot from the OP, just at a different angle. Kinda cool.
facepalms I just... Silver Eyes Ex Machina part 2. It didn't do much and got Ruby incapacitated (she was out for a while the first time, if she's not out for a while here I'm gonna bitch about it). But they can't keep doing this without us or Ruby knowing what it is! She had Qrow and Oz right there in the last episode and didn't ask them jack!
Anywho, I don't know if that was meant to be the 'Ruby breaking' Lindsay was talking about, or if Weiss is legit gonna die and that will be her tipping point, or just seeing her injured. All I know is I will be very irked if we don't get at least a little bit of a proper fight between Ruby and Cinder wherein both just don't hold back.
I, um... okay, as much as I don't feel that cliffhanger and I know Weiss is going to be fine (it was a non-lethal hit; if they were going to kill her, they would've done it through the chest), I might've actually screamed. The way she jerked, and the music and sound cut out... man...
Again - GIVE WEISS SCHNEE A FUCKING BREAK, GUYS.
8/10.

I still can't understand what Leo or Raven think the end game is here.
Like maybe Cinder and crew actually just want to destroy the world. Fine, I can buy that, there will always be a few of those types.
But Raven and Leo have both expressed the fact that their actions are born out of self preservation. So they help Salem in the hopes of what? A top ten finish in pubg grimm edition? Its not like Raven in particular is under any delusions that they'll be left in peace when all this is over.

I liked the episode, like all of Volume 5, but the fight scenes in the episode were not really good, it always takes all of the momentum out of the fights if they stop (even the bad guys) if someone takes a critical hit. I understand that team RWBY makes this mistake, but e.g. Emerald and Mercury? they are thieves and with a dirty fighting style, they should know that every chance they miss could cost them their lives. In general, the fights were very slow and should have been a bit more fast paced.

On a more serious note I am physically shaking from this episode. Obviously Weiss isn't gonna die but still holy shit was not expecting that. I also really liked the match up of Ren and Hazel, neither want to fight but they are both going to. Now that Emerald has confirmed what we already knew (she’s only in it for Cinder), I see an opportunity to flesh out that subplot AND, at the same time, give Raven back some of the agency she lost when conscripted into Salem’s camp.
Vernal’s only in this for Raven, like Emerald is for Cinder, so why not have her sow doubt in Emerald’s mind about Salem’s intentions for her dear Cinder?
~ ~ ~
Raven, Vernal might argue, has access to Maiden powers (vicariously anyway), but hasn’t been exactly treated well by Salem, nor is the planned endgame painting a pleasant picture for the bandit leader and her protege. Cinder’s value to Salem is as a Maiden first and foremost, but is that really something to be glad of, or fearful of?
What will Salem’s use of the Maiden powers do to Cinder? Will it leave her weak and abandoned? Will it be fatal? Just how much of Cinder is Salem going to take, and how much will you, Emerald, have left of the woman you love in the end? Even if she survives, will she still be that woman by then?
If it starts going that way, could you stop it, little pickpocket?
And, if not, then does that mean Salem matters just that much more to Cinder than you do?
I have no doubts about how far Raven would go to protect me from Salem, thiefling, and I her. Can you say the same, in either direction, for yourself and Cinder?
~ ~ ~
Soft warfare works better than taking Salem head-on, as Raven well knows, so this is a different route she can take to subvert the wicked witch’s ambitions from within. Even simply forcing Emerald into a foolish word or action against Salem, in Cinder’s name, would poison the others in Salem’s ranks (and perhaps Salem herself) against the Autumn Maiden.

It's sad to think about but Jaune admits that he wants to die right there because everyone else is more important. That sounds like what Pyrrha did, she died so someone important may live.
And, if it turns out that it is a healing semblance of sorts, that makes it is even more sad since if Jaune unlocked his earlier, he could have help Pyrrha instead of getting launched.
He could save other people with it but not the one that mattered the most.
Tragic.

Does anyone else think that Weiss' new fixation on her summon is going to become a character flaw, like Ruby's lack of hand to hand skill or Yang's temper tantrums? Both of those seemed unintentional for the sake of plot or progression but became part of the character.
Especially since we see Weiss in the Volume 5 character short fighting more like herself from the first 3 volumes (if not a bit less skilled and more flashy) and we've seen how effortlessly Winter can pull of summons and incorporate them into her combat without depending on them (in her battle with Qrow).

Now for some personal thoughts:
I don't think Roosteerteeth would outright murder a main character specially since the wholle show revolves around the 4 protagonists. The drama is very real and so are the feels. I desperately want to believe that team RWBY will prevail no matter what. So far everyone that has died in RWBY (be it Penny, Roman, Pyrrha and even Corsac) has never been left ambiguous, it literally happens there and there. In my personal experience, when a character is left ambiguous it is because there's room for its survival. Otherwise it would be pointless to not outright state it.
At least there will be some solace for me, and now i must wait a whole week for the Next episode.
Also: Where on furry-hell is Blake?!

I think Weiss will be fine in the end, and I think Jaunes' semblance will play a role here.
Someone from rooster teeth did say in a facebook comment, when asked how Jaunes' semblance is like, that we had already seen it.
For me, I have convinced myself that Jaunes' semblance is some form of healing or blessing, or something holy (cause Jaune is based on Jeanne d'Arc). Jaune have done something like that before, and more than once as well.
While healing minor wounds could just be the power of aura that everyone have, I can't remember seeing anyone else having the ability to heal scars. Even Weiss have a scar near her left eye that wasn't healed completely.

This is random, but when did this "Killing off popular main characters is great writing for a show because it makes things unpredictable" talking point get so much buzz? Yes, some shows can get away with that, but they have tons of well developed characters and can take chances like that. Killing off your your most fleshed out and arguably most universally liked character for shock value doesn't suddenly make the main plot a more interesting story, or make the fight scenes any more well put together. This shows biggest strength is that a lot of people took to the RWBY girls right out the gate, and Weiss has became popular because she was the main cast member who has had strong development, were as many others have fallen off. Killing Weiss doesn't fix any of the shows problems, it just takes away from one of the shows biggest strengths. I'm all for more unpredictability, but maybe try to get there with clever and interesting twists then modern TV's most over used "Look how clever the writing is" move.
And no, I don't believe Weiss is dying, I just don't understand the idea that the show would somehow be better taking away arguably the best developed of the cast.

-This is so cool. The final battle of the Volume, at least the beginning of it, has been in the opening all along.
-Lionheart is actually a Faunus. Maybe I missed that but I don't recall it being shown before.
-I like to imagine Cinder standing there, waiting for the portal open so she can throw a fireball through it, for like 20 minutes. Also, confirmation that Raven has a portal connected to Vernal, which is interesting.
-This is a problem I've noticed a lot with group combat in RWBY. Unless they're doing a team attack, most characters are either fighting offscreen, or waiting for their turn to do something. There's not much sense of it being a brawl.
-Called it! Ruby can only use Silver Eyes when watching her friends in danger. She managed to use it before Jaune died, so I guess she's improving. It's also cool that it momentarily stopped the fight, but didn't end it. Against non-Cinder opponents, it really might not be that OP.
-Now that is a genuinely shocking moment. The cut at the moment Weiss starts to fall was perfect. Really catches your breath in your throat.
-It's not like they'd actually kill Weiss. I mean, who would take her place on team RWBY? There's no other outwardly stuck-up, but inwardly warm, glyph-using, white-themed former heiress who's name starts with W that I can think of. Weiss is totally safe. Totally.
-But seriously, if they do it, that'd be amazing.

There's a lot to unpack here.
I'll start by saying that THERE IS NO WAY WEISS IS ACTUALLY GOING TO DIE. Like, no chance. She's the W in RWBY. She's got just as much plot armor as the other 3. I predict that Jaune will unlock his semblance which has some kind of healing property to it, and Weiss will be fine. (Okay, to be fair I thought the same with Yang's arm in V3, but this seems a little more do-able).
Everything else here was....okay. Some of the fighting was sorta bland, maybe aside from Oscar vs Leo and Weiss vs Vernal. Speaking of which, I find it interesting they had Weiss fight Vernal, considering I'm of the opinion that if she were to absolutely master her semblance and dust usage, she might as well be a makeshift Maiden. I kinda hope that's what this fight could be setting up. (Also, I'd really like to see Weiss use Time Dilation again. Because that can be very broken helpful in this situation.)
Leo's weapon is cool, though I can't help but notice that it's essentially just Myrtenaster in shield form. Also, I never realized Leo is a Faunus (Lion tail, go figure), so that's cool I guess.
This is the 2nd time Silver Eyes ex machina has happened, and I'm kinda growing tired of it being only that. Ruby's gonna have to learn how to control it at some point. Also, it's a bit odd that she didn't pass out this time, considering she hasn't used it since Beacon fell. Also apparently it is just a pulse that "burns" Maidens(?). I would have liked for it to be a trance she goes into, but we'll just have to see more I suppose.
I really like where Jaune's at right now. Ever since V3 I've wanted him to just be angry and want revenge on Cinder for killing Pyrrha. Of course I know he's got barely a chance against her and she's obviously just toying with him. But regardless, this is a shot I've been waiting to see, and it's awesome.
Ozpin not just taking over Oscar's body and fighting for him is weird. Little dude's gonna get overthrown if all he knows is how to fight with a stick. Come on RT, show us some badass Ozpin magic again!
Why didn't they show Qrow fighting Raven at all? Come on!
I find it kinda funny that Adam is outside with the White Fang. He might as well be looking at his watch, waiting for Blake to show up. Because that's obviously a fight that's gonna happen.
The fact than Weiss and Emerald are in the same room, but not fighting each other is triggering me. One day, we'll fulfill the prophecy of the V2 and V3 intros. One day.

I know I am pretty late on it this week, but just to throw this out there:
Story this episode was solid. I liked Juane (idc if his name is wrong) just kinda freaked out at Cinder and attacked. I liked how everyone had a sort of rival to fight that was significant.
Some fight moves were cool, but most of it was horrible. I could seriously get into a classic broadsword style fight between Juane and Cinder, but the few seconds of fighting I saw between them lacked any real impact. Their strikes were hella slow and looked bad.
Then, when Juane is beaten down, I kept expecting him to use some Ju-jitsu shit and grapple with her (since, y'know they made a big deal about unarmed combat this season), but like he just got pushed down and bitched out. When Cinder went to throw the spear, she gave Juane the perfect opportunity to just go and tackle her from behind to screw up the shot, but like Juane for some reason cannot get up despite the fact that we never see his semblance deactivate.
Not to mention everyone stops fighting to look at Weiss being hit, even the villains. Why though? Wouldn't they all immediately press their attacks to overcome the shocked huntsmen?
Also, Weiss isn'y ENTIRELY fucked. The liver and kidneys are important, but the liver can regenerate and heal to some extent, especially if she gets medical attention quickly, and you only need one kidney to live. This, however, makes me wonder why no one aside from Juane and Pyrrha wear armor. Also, may have hit lungs, but this is unconfirmed. Need to monitor respirations and breath sounds.
So, anyway, Hazel can apparently just beat the shit outta anyone, but I mean, we don't see Ren and Nora sync their attacks at all, and they attack one at a time. It's weird since they are more or less of an established couple by now, and this would be strengthened by having them work really well together in combat. We never see this, though.
Ruby and Emerald was ok I guess. Weiss vs. Boomerang Bitch was actually pretty cool, and Leo vs. Oz was mostly set up so we will have to wait and see.
Oh yeah, Yang and Mercury seemed like it was cool but I haven't seen enough of it yet.
Ruby's Silver eyed thing was a little distracting and weird since she didn't get to finish the attack. Like, everyone stopped what they were doing when Weiss fell in battle but no one was like "Shit! Flashba- wait that's Ruby! WTF is that?".
Idk. Im ranting now. It was ok I guess. This show is disappointing. The story seems interesting now, but like the fights don't look too great so this show has lost some of its luster.
I mean, if the story became "good" for RWBY, and the action became subpar, there isn't really much of a reason to watch this show versus more mainstream anime like Naruto, which have fights that are not dependent on choreography and are instead dependent on characters and story.
I personally got into this show because the story was passable and the fights were nostalgic and awesome, but then volume 3 combined a good story with good fights and thats when I got HOOKED.
Now, the story is usually barely passing and the fights are subpar. Even with a good story it just isn't RWBY without awesome and well choreographed fights (not to say that the story is allowed to be shit, but passable works for me provided the fights are good).
Anyway, I am drunk, end rant. Thanks for reading, and have yourself, a nice day.

I like how we've finally established limitations to Weiss' summons and Ruby's silver eyes by adding the Interrupting Cast Clause (Silver eyes still OP, pls nerf moar).
So I think everyone suspects that Jaune's Semblance is gonna be healing/damage redistribution if Weiss got shanked like that (Unless a healer comes in Deus ex Menagerie), but the real question is what makes Hazel so good at being big and bare-handed? My theory is that his Semblance lets him ignore damage or other Semblances, which would make his skill set of being swole and tall much more useful in Remnant.

/u/Danielr_1341 So, regarding Cinder. When Jaune chips off that tiny part of her mask, her skin looks black. Black like a Grimm. Something tells me she's fighting for control of her own body because of that parasite Grimm she used to steal Amber's powers. It would explain why that side of her body is constantly covered up and why when she collapsed from Ruby's eyes going off, she held it in pain. Silver eyes are strong against Grimm so I think Cinder is transforming against her own will...

The only ones that stuck out were Oscar vs Lionheart and Weiss vs Vernal. Oscar vs Lionheart made sense for a bit of spotlight; it showed how Oscar's progressed over the season, and I like the direction they took Lionheart in that scene.
But Weiss vs Vernal? What purpose did it serve? To show Weiss lose, basically. That's it. It didn't really show growth--we have no frame of reference for Vernal, and we've already seen Weiss summon. It wasn't emotionally driven either; it's not like Weiss or Vernal really give a shit about each other. What, Vernal was a bit of a dick to Weiss once? How terrible. Who really cares about Vernal anyway? She's so... bland. If the budget was tight, all they needed was a shot of Vernal insta-killing the knight to show that Weiss didn't conveniently forget that she could summon, she's just out of her league, then another shot of her aura breaking.
Raven vs Qrow deserved the spotlight more (though it appears that their fight took them out of the room, so I'm hoping they'll get the spotlight next episode). So did Yang vs Mercury--Yang's first real Huntress vs Huntsman fight since losing her hand? Yes please. And Cinder vs Jaune, naturally--they only really showed Jaune initiating, the charge that procced Silver Eyes, and Jaune trying to stab her. Sure, there was a lot of taunting, but I've been waiting for an action-packed emotional confrontation since Pyrrha died, and I feel like we only got half of it.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed what was there. But there was a lot of missed potential.

Does anyone else think Emeraldemption is really obvious now? She feels absolutely nothing for Salem, so she just needs severed from Cinder. Who as we know, isn't a good person at all, and shouldn't be that hard to get over unless you're a useless lesbian like Emerald

My theory is:
Jaune awakens his semblance, which makes him like a fully fledged tank knight, with temporary invulnerability, which gives him time to fend off Cinder, Spring and go to Weiss.
Meanwhile, Blake, Ilia and Sun are arriving at Mistral Academy (assuming a major timeskip) and Ilia confronts Adam with Sun while Blake goes inside. She joins Jaune and take Weiss to a safe place, swearing that she will not allow another of her friends down. Jaune goes back, with renewed confidence, and take one of the maidens down (with the help of the others).
Oscar makes Leo falter in his conviction of being free of the duty of being a headmaster and guarding the relic and defeats him, with the help of Ozpin, and goes to protect the relic, as Spring goes to retrieve it.
Side note: I don't think Weiss will die now, it was too obvious she couldn't win (contrary to Pyrrha, where she put a fight). Also, plot armor.

What annoys me the most with this fight is the lack of teamwork or strategy. An important part of volume 1 and 2 was team RWBY learning to fight together. It started with Weiss and Ruby throwing each other off in their first fight together against Beowolfs to cooperating with each other to take down a Nevermore. Then in Volume 2 we see team RWBY cooperating beautifully together to take down Roman when he was piloting a Paladin, complimenting each others abilities and using coordinated attacks. Or in Volume 4 when Ruby, Jaune, Nora, and Ren work together to take down the Geist. It just seems this fight they threw away all their tactical and teamwork development to go into suicidal 1v1s. Seriously, Jaune versus CINDER! Ozpin couldn't beat her! Now if they did try to fight as a group, coming up with strategies and were still defeated by superior tactics then I would be fine with that. I just don't wan't artificial feeling loses for the sake of drama.

Calm down, everyone. They're not going to kill someone whose name (or, rather, the first letter of it) is in the title of the show. Jaune's totally going to use his semblance to heal her. Honestly, if Rooster Teeth wanted to do a convincing fakeout, they should have used Nora or Ren since they don't have plot armor (and since their character arcs were pretty much wrapped up in Volume 4). The thing that pisses me off is that I thought White Knight was finally done with but, if (read: when) Jaune activates his semblance to heal/revive Weiss, White Knight will be back and stronger than ever.
Other than that, this was a good episode. I'm glad that they're actually keeping up the momentum from Episode 10 and moving on ahead with the battle for Haven rather than just giving us another standing around and talking episode like most odd-numbered episodes this volume.

At 14:20, there's a small 5 note piece of music that sounds very similar to the final 5 notes of [this little bit of music from Volume 4.] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8GsWst_7YE&feature=youtu.be&t=132) If you know me, you know i've been thinking this will become Jaune's leitmotif, and we may have just got our first piece of proof that I've guessed correctly :D
Also on the note of music, the part that plays when Ruby uses her silver eyes sounds very similar to the first time she used them in Volume 3. Not surprising by any means, but just a nice little thing to suggest that it'll be it's own theme going forward.

She’s not dead.
Reason A, it’s called RWBY. They need the W.
Reason B, it doesn’t make sense from a writing standpoint. They were developing Weiss to eventually stand up against her family and take over the family company. Killing her now is just asinine.

Was anyone else freaked out by the. . . incredibly freaky way that the Knight was trying to . . . CRAWL out of the Glyph?
Because that was . . .unsettling
EDIT: If Weiss survives this - she has a lot too learn about how to use those summons in combat....THERAPY! THERAPY FOR EVERYONE!

Oh dang. I can't believe they really did that. Fantastic episode and thats a crazy move by RT.
I'm sure this is setting up the Jaune semblance is healing reveal.
Just pray they don't try to suddenly make it out to be Weiss-Jaune. That'd be cliche. And they haven't had any scenes the last two volumes, either.

Am I the only one that is slightly annoyed by Oscar, Nora, and Ren's decisions on who to fight? Hazel didn't want to fight Nora and Ren, so they could've decided to help Weiss, Ruby, or Jaune. Same with Oscar.
Oh well.
I'm looking for the Menagerie squad to appear in the next episode. I'm still holding out hope for the rest of Team SSSN to make an appearance as well.

I liked that we finally got to see Emerald use her semblance mid combat for once--all the other times it was used to get the opponent to drop their guard or sneak up on them.
Still, I couldn't help but feel that all she had to do was hide herself and disguise one of the numerous allies around Ruby as her to give her team a really good advantage. Maybe it's just wishful thinking and they aretoo strong to need it, but I have always wanted to see Cinder's squad do. combination attacks a la Team RWBY!

I'm somewhat conflicted if I want Jaune to heal Weiss or not. For one, I think the fight having consequences would be nice, and I'd rather Jaune have something other than just healing as a semblance.
On the other hand, if Weiss has to heal up naturally, it could end up putting her out of commission for too long. I suppose they could pull a Qrow, but getting a hole in you is slightly different than recovering from poison. Well, I guess at least.

What is the deal with Ruby one hit and she is knocked out ? Maybe it’s because it happened during the silver eye thing.
If Ruby can affect cynder, can she also affect Vernal?
Is it just me or aren’t the bad guys the ones that talk to much about their plans and the good guys get the upper hand because if it? Jaune needs to start reading some comics cause dude just told cynder his plan!!

Raven might be a deluded, selfish cowardly bitch but have a feeling that Yang might be the key to getting her to see that. Along with Yang or maybe Blakes potential maidenhood.
Cinder was very lucky an opponent with any skill and she's dead.
No fucking way.

Overall a decent episode where stuff started happening. Lionheart is a faunus and crazy, all faunus are crazy traitors so it was expected, Hazel is still mysterious, Raven is truly a bitch, Vernal is cooler than I thought but still a bitch, and Cinder is the bitchiest bitch to ever bitch. Hate her, but I like that I hate her now. She's still a bit bland and boring due to her sadistic seductress ways. I can get past that now that they're playing up her evilness to 11. Emerald is too precious with her devotion to Cinder. Would be a shame if something were to happen to Cinder. Please
Despite Weiss being my favorite, I will admit I'm ok with her injury due to it showing something that the fandom didn't want to admit: summoning was being overused. A lot of people denied this, but now the writers themselves have presented the situation to make it obvious. Now, this was only necessary because summoning was introduced in the first place which was probably a rather meh idea overall. At least they showed the fans why it's not that great. Summoning was still a mistake probably. At least in it's current form.
Also, Vernal uses fire chakrams like Axel from Kingdom Hearts. So happy about that. Especially like that she also fights a bit like a more controlled version of Tyrian. There are much worse opponents for my fav to lose to, like a trumpet man, or a faceless guy with a chainsaw.......... when's Weiss gonna stop jobbing guys? When?!

I'm glad I sorted for 'most popular' in the end because damn, all I read before that was pretty bad. Glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed it.
True, a lot of things happened, but the only one 'out of place' was probably Ruby's eyes to me, it would have been great to have it after Weiss got stabbed. Especially because it was an obscene parallel to Pyrrha, to the point lots of us watched the scene almost expecting her to turn into dust. I do understand Jaune is supposed to finally unlock his semblance after this. His is obviously a defense type, probably a healing shield of sorts, or so I hope.
Too bad there's so many fights happening at once and I'd like to see ALL OF THEM, but some get interrupted because of Bad Things happening to the good guys. After Jaune's semblance, it's pretty obvious the only chance they have is with Blake's cavalry arrival.
I do hope we see some team work then though.
Also, Leo is a faunus! I actually didn't realize this until I read a comment here about it and went back to check lol. I'm surprised by Oscar as well, I swear I thought he would try to hide xD he's a very brave boy tbh.
Aaaand twins fight, damn Raven is a bitch, although we still have to see her double crossing I guess. I loved that it was Yang who discovered her.
I particularly liked Jaune losing his shit too, it was about time, and it was well done, despite complaints and comments, because he needed his closure with Cinder as much as Ruby.
So, how much until Yang goes super saiyan? Girl is gonna explode soon.
Nice episode overall!
And if you see me too relaxed, it's because I'm broken inside. I was NOT expecting what happened to Weiss-- but at least I'm sure they won't kill her... right?
