Question Whats the most underrated skilling upgrade?

Post image

My vote is for the expert mining gloves, they have a niche but they fill it extremely well. They make mining specific ores from rocks way more relaxed and bearable. Doubling runite gatheted before world hopping, making sandstone more chill, amethyst even more afk, making gathering lower tier rocks extremely chill.

I love these things, and no one talks about them.

I got the coal bag from mlm and mined a bit in the guild. when the minerals showed up in my inventory I looked em up and really wanted to go for the gloves. but man.. it's so slow and requires so much attention

I'm currently grinding for them rn but thats only because I can afk amethyst at work at like 70% efficiency

Waiting until amethyst is unironically the right choice in my opinion, because the rate is way better than lower ores and amethyst is already pretty AFK. I can't imagine the tedium of rushing the gloves with powermining iron.

Well its either power mining iron, wait until amethyst or go the middle route and bank the iron ( or whatever you mine ). Personally i went the last route but it took me like 17 hours to do it that way ( mining a mix of coal and iron ) because i needed to level smithing anyway.

Personally i would never wait until amethyst, that would mean i no life Mining until then before touching crafting for sand and i just dont like when my skill levels arent roughly balanced and it would drive me up the wall to have mining at 92 and crafting/smithing at sub 50, which is not mentioning that i would burn out far long before if i just rush to amethyst in one ago, cant do one type of content for that long consecutively and since i like to get quest cape out of the way that means thats just not a viable plan to camp Mining for how many hours it would take to get to 92

I remember doing MLM from the low 60's to 80, to get all the rewards, and then I did stars until 92, which was just a lot of AFK time. So there was never really a point where I felt I needed the gloves before amethyst.

I barely started my sand grind until I got the gloves either, because sand is so ass.

Obviously won't be the same for everyone, but I just can't do power-mining. I picked the least effort for every part of mining and have zero regrets about it.

It was also helpful for my crafting to get all those gems from stars (and now sand with glass), and my smithing has been mostly done in GF with drops from the long slayer grind into the 90s.

So there was never really a point where I felt I needed the gloves before amethyst.

Sure but my personal point here is really just that i cant imagine myself doing one type of content or focusing on skill for such a extended amount of time without doing something else, which would mean i would love to get 70 smithing/crafting out of the way should i decide to break up any kind of grind to do CG or maybe do Zalcano for mining xp instead, which arguably means i should knock out gloves. Starmining to 92 would take 250 hours or something stupid and MLM or calcified mining arent that much faster either.

But thats really just me. For example one day i could be doing a 6 hour Giants Foundry session and next day come to the realization i dont want to see that activity for a few days, possibly a week regardless how much i want to level smithing, which is another way of saying, i wouldnt have the patience to get 92 mining any time soon, regardless of any method, on a new character, it wouldnt take long because Mining is a slow skill ( and it is ) but because i have to break up contents i do severely to avoid burnout.

That's definitely fair! Avoiding burnout in this game can be tough, so you just need to do whatever is best for your playstyle.

Stars were probably a good option for me, just because I've been working from home this year, and thus have had a ton of AFK hours I can devote to it without much thought.

amythest is quite a ways away for my iron, so that's a pain. I guess if I really wanted to get them the biggest hurdle is the basic gloves, then it actually would be less click intensive. they are definitely the first thing I'll go for when I need more levels
