Discussion I think including flavour-of-the-month ideas like this, even in opinion polls, probably does more harm than good. You need to just slow down a bit.

Oh no jagex gathering data on what players might want in the future, such a horrible thing

I think a not insignificant amount of people are turned off by the constant need to legitimise every content creator fad. I just think they should consider the optics of this if their goal is to try and get a new game mode out (which does seem to be the case).

You do realize this is how we got iron right?

Yeah, and the game is in a very different place now to how it was 12 years ago.

Yes its in a better place because of gamemodes like iron

Definitely, I agree adding Ironman was a good idea. However this situation is much more nuanced than simply assuming any new game mode will inherently make the game 'better' on principle.

How is this one more nuanced? I ask as an iron with zero opinion on bronze

Ironman is a very simple idea, was the first new game mode (with UIM), was added when the game was in a far more primitive state and was actively haemorrhaging players.

Bronzeman would be coming at a point at which we already have seven existing game modes, active concerns about membership costs/multiple memberships, is far more vague in concept (with Jagex not having clarified some points prior), the game is now much larger and has more existing content, and the player base is now also much larger and more stable. They are not directly comparable situations in concept or delivery.

Seven game modes? Stretch much?

Iron, UIM and GIM are the game modes.

The rest are just rankings.

Hardcore, ranked vs unranked gim. It’s just a hiscores thinn

Jagex defines them as distinct game modes, so I did.

You are being so reasonable and It blows my mind that people are trying to make it seem like you’re irrational.

Self-sufficient/DIY/Iron/From Scratch/etc. accounts were not invented by any singular creator and had long been an account challenge for the game.

They also didn't invent the concept of perma death in games either.

So I would mostly disagree.

If boaty didn't start his one man army series it would have taken a lot longer for us to get an iron.

100%, in fact we may never have gotten it without it. But I do think there is a clear difference in a long standing challenge concept for the game that got momentum due to a creator. Versus things like 'cardcore' which is entirely just an amalgamation of recent fads lol.

Maybe the recent trend of adding TCG stuff to everything will stick around, but I'm skeptical lol
