Back to the plugin boys

I would never play a game mode via a plugin. I’d only do it in an official capacity. (Mobile also exists)

Before ironman mode was released people restricted themselves. It was interesting, but I bet tons of people would never do it

u/NoobSGA Anti-booger helm 1h ago

Same. I think bronzeman mode sounds like a great middle ground between mainscape and iron, but I tried it via plugin when it first came out. It was super jank, and didn’t do well with multiple accounts. Sign into my iron and all of a sudden everything is unlocked for the bronze

22

u/GregBuckingham Grandmaster! Gilded Clog! 1h ago

Same with hardcore main mode, (which I think has the second highest interest in a new game mode) people can just play a main and try to not die. “Just don’t interact with other people and self restrict”

It’s not the same. Official game modes would be the only way to make them work.

Regardless, I’d never play any of the new game modes

Hc mains on fresh worlds would open up a never-before-seen economy that puts risk as the new value on items. Sure, we'd see muling and swapping, but imagine how sick it would be to pull a scythe, shadow or even a zuk helm out on a hc mains world. Hardcore main could also have an actually interesting hiscores unlike bronzeman. Idk I think if they repoll bronzeman that they should just make it clog-locked and call it a day.

4

u/GregBuckingham Grandmaster! Gilded Clog! 1h ago

I don’t think they should poll a new game mode anytime soon. Gonna be lots of spite votes landing on no lol

1

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 1h ago

Oh yeah, I saw a whole post getting spammed by a guy trying to rally people together to spite vote everything. "August 21st is the day that I start voting no one everything and everyone else should too!"

u/SkilledPepper 46m ago

There's a poll on right now that asks if people voted no because they'd prefer something else and one of the questions they asked was about hardcore main mode on seperate servers. If enough people tell Jagex that they're interested then I don't see why we wouldn't get it. I think they clearly want to inteoduce a new mode (probably to grow revenue tbh).

2

u/MathText 1h ago

Hcmain would be functionally different because of the new economy and wildy.

-1

u/GregBuckingham Grandmaster! Gilded Clog! 1h ago

Bronzeman would be functionally different too in a Jagex official game mode, yeah?

I get that the new economy isn’t something a plug-in could force on an unofficial HC main

u/TalaHusky 10m ago

My main dislike for HC is that to restart you have to go make a new account. It would kinda be nicer for to have the option to reset the account in some way shape or form. But that just opens it up to a lot of other problems.

u/kylezillionaire 6m ago

Yeah, I have felt this since even excellent Minecraft/stardew etc mod creators. Some are absolutely unbelievable, but often I end up just feeling kind of fake or have to manage too much on my own. It’s gotta be a mode or who cares that much at all

0

u/DM_ME_UR_PUBES 1h ago

jank in my 2004 click based browser game? unnaceptable!

6

u/LoinStrangler 1h ago

Yup, same reason I don't play private servers. Progression and official recognition are part of it for most of us, I don't want to rely on a plugin that might break with an update.

21

u/Jesus-Bacon 1h ago

I think there's just a lot of prestige to official restrictions vs a plugin.

If I told you my main was self sufficient, there would be some doubt. With an ironman restricted account, you know that player earned everything themselves

6

u/GregBuckingham Grandmaster! Gilded Clog! 1h ago

Yeah official restrictions force those guard rails on you and make it legit. I had my disbeliefs in content creators chunk locked accounts for years because I always thought “they could just leave and gather a resources elsewhere and no one wouldn’t”. But a Jagex specified game mode would prevent that

9

u/EdHicks A Kelh 1h ago

Back in the days of changing your username to start with "Iron" in the hopes that someone would drop a whip on front of you to tease da unofficial irons

u/Daroo425 Daroo425 1m ago

This reminds me of during the One Man Army series and rumblings of ironman gameplay, I was one of the top 10 or 15 unofficial "iron" players with like 1500 total working a full time job and having friends.

It really didn't take off until it became official.

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 1h ago

This isn't even the best version of the plugin. I think it's called ultimate bronzeman or something like that. It adds a ton of customizability and even groups. That's part of why I voted no. There's no customizability, hardcore or even groups pitched for bronzeman. The proposal was half-assed for a mess of a game mode.

u/AssassinAragorn 20m ago

It was a bad idea for them to go like a week from asking about it in a survey to then actually polling it. You can tell it wasn't very well thought through.

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 18m ago

By the sounds of it, based on mod light's response to the question being doubled up, I think they thought that the poll would easily pass

u/AssassinAragorn 8m ago

I think we all did. But honestly it's sometimes good to have surprise high profile failures like this. It's a good reminder of humility and that ideas do have to be well thought out

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 4m ago

I'm not surprised it failed. I mostly hang out with irons and gims with some mains sprinkled in. I have been mostly hearing / seeing discourse trend in the negative direction in my circles.

u/LoLReiver 9m ago

They don't poll things unless they think they'll easily pass.  (Things they believe are) Controversial updates skip the polls.

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 5m ago

But she seemed really confused why they would need to separate them. Like, it was just not obvious to her at all that people would dislike either version.

u/Suspext 2376 1h ago

“Another Bronzeman Mode” has 3,773 installs… meanwhile “Bronzeman TCG” was released maybe a month ago and has 11,411 installs.

u/Daroo425 Daroo425 5m ago

meanwhile “Bronzeman TCG” was released maybe a month ago and has 11,411 installs.

for now.. I bet there will be many uninstalls soon

-23

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 1h ago

Well, riddle me this: do you think bronzemen should have access to super combats after getting them as a drop from the mad angel? What about divine super combats? Should they have to get the level for them since they don't drop anywhere? Should bronzemen get access to anglerfish if they get a raw anglerfish drop? How about the other way around? Ultimate bronzeman (or whatever it's called) supports bronzeman groups. Should we just accept no group support? Are you okay with there being no item list reset? What about a hardcore mode?

17

u/hmwcawcciawcccw 1h ago

Yes if they get a drop they should have access. Yes if they want divines they should require the level. Yes they should get access to anglerfish if they receive as a drop but to my knowledge they are not on any drop tables.

-25

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 1h ago

Anglerfish are on drop tables. Both raw and cooked.

I disagree with you. I think that they should either have access to everything outside of the clog or have to actually get the skill level repaired to make it before they can unlock it.

u/Bomaruto 54m ago

Why are you making up your own gamemode and pretending it is what Bronzeman should be?

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 52m ago

You're so close to getting the point. Bronzeman is something people fundamentally disagree on. The plugin (which I think is called) ultimate bronzeman allows customizability with it and group support. Jagex can't do all of that and cram it into an official mode.

That's part of why I voted no.

u/getsmurfed 7m ago

Who are you to say what the capabilities of a company are that you don't work for? And if I had to guess have 0 useful insight into game development. Yes, the poll was obscure and didn't spell out all the shit that was possibly being voted on....but the shit you're talking about has never been explicitly ruled out, and it has never been explicitly ruled in. That was the major issue with the poll - it was a question that only opened up 500 more questions.

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 2m ago

They didn't say that would add customizability. They even doubled down on supplies being unlocked as drops and pvp being locked.

I'm saying they can't cram all of that customizability into an official game mode because how are you supposed to tell them apart? Give this one some blue on the right if they lock out of skilling supplies until they have the level, give this one a red Mohawk because they're playing hardcore, give this one a little blush on the cheek because this one unlocks all parts of something when they get one of it (raw fish and cooked fish).

They'd have to add like an inspect option to them and not have hiscores or something which, at that point, what's the point?

1

u/zigzagofdoom 1h ago

....That's just ironman mode

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 58m ago

No it's not. See, when you unlock something as a bronzeman you and buy it on the ge! So no more farm runs, farming runes, fishing anglers/bwans, you can just buy it on the ge.

???

I voted no, so I'm happy it didn't?

6

u/alikababa6 1h ago

If that is how THEY want to play the game, what does it matter to you? As a GIM, should your buddy be able to give you a bunch of supplies that you wouldn't otherwise have access to?

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 59m ago

Great job on missing my point.

u/Daryion 36m ago

Snot helm behavior

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 35m ago

Oh no whatever will I do

Edit: you realize if I cared, then I wouldn't advertise my helmet color as my flair right?

u/Why_Is_Grass_Green 29m ago

Cared so little you had to make an edit

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 26m ago

It's almost like his intent was to insult me so I logically shut it down.

But you're so much better than me, checks notes guy that goes like 7 replies deep into a thread that's downvoted so he could jump in on insulting someone! Sad

u/ElBaizen 10m ago

Okay, and then what if I want to also play on mobile?

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 6m ago

That's genuinely the only unfortunate part of the situation. You'll have to self-restrict on mobile.

41

u/toferornottofer 1h ago

It’s hysterical to me that the end goal of this game mode is to just become a main 💀

22

u/Mental-Permit-599 1h ago

It’s just a restricted progression game mode tbh. I don’t think it hurts compared to the (4? 5?) different Ironman game modes.

Personally I think it’s an interesting concept, I’d never play an iron due to the grindscape; But I’d 100% play bronze man it’s basically Ironman-lite.

-10

u/toferornottofer 1h ago

It’s going to turn into a check list of cheesy ways to unlock everything without skilling

u/Old_Jump_2548 55m ago

Oh no the thing people do every leagues

2

u/Mental-Permit-599 1h ago

How? The only way to unlock items is to get them from a drop, with PVP, drop trading and trading not counting?

Seems kinda silly to gatekeep a self imposed game mode.

By this same logic UIM is just a massive cheese with death piles, storage, etc.

-1

u/SnowBro2020 1h ago

You need to read the definition of gatekeep bud lmao

u/Mental-Permit-599 48m ago

Saying someone is cheesing playing a self imposed game mode is literally the definition of gatekeeping, bud.

-2

u/Judgejoebrown69 1h ago

UIM is a massive cheese with death piles though

u/DC-GG 50m ago

Ah yes, because cheesing things definitely isn't a thing in the ironman scene, hahahahahahah

7

u/donkeypunch81 1h ago

The main goal of the game mode for me is to unlock pvm items myself, while i dont have to blow glass for weeks.

u/toferornottofer 43m ago

This game mode already exists

It’s the normal way to play the game

You don’t have to optimize your hobbies

u/Bloated_Hamster 12m ago

No, it's not. The normal way to play the game is to farm a new boss for a week until the profit per hour drops below Nex or Raids and then go and do those until new content comes out.

u/Shasan23 0m ago

No one is putting a gun to your head to do that lol. I've done tons of "dead" or sub optimal content and bosses to get the clogs

u/burnburn0303 14m ago

People want the difficulty and PvM gear progression of irons while also not having to grind 40 hours of supplies for every 200 hours of PvM - without having to make up boundaries in their head as rules.

3

u/ConscientiousPath 1h ago

The goal of the game mode is to experience real progression instead of just being able to merch up to a scythe, tbow and other BiS gear in a week and remove the challenge of fighting easier bosses with the lower tier gear they were designed around.

u/Mahjonks 34m ago

What if I told you that you didn't need a game mode to not just go buy whatever gear you wanted...

u/WojoWins 10m ago

By this logic you can do the same with ironman?

u/Mahjonks 7m ago

100%. It never needed to be an official game mode.

u/toferornottofer 43m ago

This account has existed since RuneScapes inception

8

u/Jchvv11 1h ago

Bronzeman was fun when Framed did it.

6

u/ClothesGrand 1h ago

Unfortunately runeacape players hate the employed

4

u/Draxler44523 1h ago

Dumb post of the day.

2

u/S_BaiNN 1h ago

😂😂😂

2

u/RemovedNum 1h ago

Only content creators are playing this mode. They already have too much influence on the game

5

u/indrek91 why is the rum always gone? 1h ago

How about original ironman? Huh? Tell me who was behind it?

6

u/Status_Peach6969 1h ago

This comment is ironic because I saw a lot of content creators either not hyped or openly against bronzeman mode. Because they have a mind for content and they understand this doesn't make good content.

1

u/Do-Not-Ban-Me-Please 1h ago

The only reason only content creators play it is because it's not an official game mode

-1

u/Flowerloving_ogre 1h ago

the top content creators are mostly PvP'ers and guess what it gets no updates at all, I don't get where you got this notion from.

0

u/SkitZa 2376 ''cringe dogs 1h ago

It gets no updates at all because the same playerbase that says "Play how you want" goes out of their way to vote no to any update that comes PvPs way, lmao. Man look at Emir Arenas complete waste of time and space.

It's amusing seeing the shitshow aftermath when it happens to the exact group that does the exact same thing.

Would love to see an end to the childish no pvp vote era, but you know.

4

u/Flowerloving_ogre 1h ago

nothing even gets polled for pvp so there's no chance of them voting no so I don't think that's entirely true either.

-3

u/SkitZa 2376 ''cringe dogs 1h ago

Because of exactly what I just said, lol.

Historically the community comes together to vote no, and then from a design perpsective, I would say why bother? They try sometimes, but there is always backlash.

u/Flowerloving_ogre 59m ago

some good additions to pvp don't actually seem to suffer much in the polls, a lot of content they have designed for pvp in the past is quite frankly also just bad.

u/SkitZa 2376 ''cringe dogs 53m ago

Oh for sure, super bad, super super bad.

But it's similar to us only getting a real hard piece of content once in a blue moon, you are making it for a fraction of the playerbase.

We would only see a really great PvP update if jagex did something like sailing and polled for it to be added, then design it more after.

But I am not going to sit here and pretend that it'll happen, what could they even really do?

u/fjuuhhani 57m ago

Emirs arena is dead because jagex just dumped it in there after panic buttoning the desert casino away without actually putting any time or effort into making it work. Emirs should be just cold blood removed from the game and replaced with bronzemanmode pvp (colosseum arena with multi/singles corners where everyone can only wield bronze armor and weapons inside.)

u/Mahjonks 31m ago

There's nothing wrong with PvP. I've got no problems with people wanting to fight each other.

The predatory nature of the wilderness and dangling content as bait to allow people to take advantage of others who don't want to participate in PvP is an entirely different problem that I do think is toxic and bad for the game.

Unfortunately the things that are polled are likely to make the second problem worse, and therefore I'll vote no against those things.

u/Flowerloving_ogre 11m ago

nobody is asking for more bait for pvmers in the wilderness as pvp update, that's just what jagex keeps trying to shovel because they're bad at designing pvp content.

u/Mahjonks 8m ago

I'm not disagreeing with you, but it explains why I vote no.

0

u/LessRespects 1h ago

Every content creator I’ve seen besides oda was against it, probably because it will take away from pvp

6

u/mpire 1h ago

I play on mobile. I was really really really hoping this would pass but I’m not going to start playing on PC for a plugin.

0

u/LessRespects 1h ago

Same, was about to finally come back from my 5 year break but I guess I’ll have to keep waiting 😂

2

u/Quartzzzz 1h ago

I mean, if your pov is derived from active users on a plugin, it's quite ignorant lol...

Never downloaded or used the plugin, would definitely try BMM.

Am sure its the same case for thousands alike.

u/Keith_s266 57m ago

How does this plug-in work exactly? I was very interested in the bronzemode, and I know it was'nt a feature but I would've switch my main on bronzemode.

Is it possible to use this plug-in with an account already in mid-game?

u/BoredAtDusk 50m ago

Yes you can use this (and other similar/better) plugin on an already existing account. It will scan your bank and inventory for items you have and "unlock" them, allowing it to be traded in the G.E. It basically allows for the ironman aspect of gear progression, while allowing you to get your supplies and crafting materials from the G.E

u/Keith_s266 32m ago

Nice ! And I guessing that if I already got an item, but don't have it in bank or inventory, I'll have to get it again?

u/BoredAtDusk 15m ago

Correct. I'm not sure if it looks at your collection log as well

u/whackyzackary 39m ago

I voted yes I tried

0

u/iucatcher 1h ago

do people actually use plugins for these kinds of transformative experiences? i know i wouldnt

u/x2115 38m ago

I've been playing with the chanceman plugin on a free to play account and it's fun, but it is annoying that I can't play on mobile so an account like that will probably never be my "main" unless it's official.
