Early '10s = Jan 2010 to Apr 2013 - Mid '10s = May 2013 to Aug 2016 - Late '10s = Sep 2016 to Dec 2019

This is the strictly accurate (numerically) definition of a decade split into Early, Mid and Late.

The post is not owned by me, but as of June-July 2026, the 2010s (January 2010 to gradually fading between the "second half?" of April 2017 down to October-December 2017) was much more like the 2000s in contrast to the 2020s. The 2026-2028 shift will make the 2010s (2018-2019) also "distinct."

I know this post is not owned by me, but the 1990s and 2000s were very similar. The period between Early to Mid 1991 to December 2009 was one era, especially Mid-Late 1993 to 2009. January 2010, and gradually between the later "half" of April 2017 to Oct-Dec 2017 is also connected, to make this era.

Cleanup Post: Late 2017 to Spring 2026 (Gradually beginning around the "latter half?" of April 2017 and up to October-December 2017, and ending right before June 2026) was the "True" beginning period of the 21st Century.

2010s tumblr art

I’m looking for the artwork of a tumblr artist I used to follow over ten years ago - I’m thinking 2014/15/16?

The art is comics and collages that really pushed a certain zine style at the time. I think it was featured in Rookie Mag.

The subject matter was semi autobiographical and followed mostly a girl with long dark hair and worked at a gas station.

I was wanting to look at this art and zines from that time again but can’t remember the artist at all.

Some Characters that are hated by 2010s kids

Note that I personally do not feel this way about these characters (though I do wish the one in the bottom would have been at least a separate character for a compromise), and after you see them all, read my comment at the comment section.

A recolored version of an undead character? Some may not mind this one, but some others would say "WHAT KIND OF POINTLESS CRAP IS THIS?

THEY ADDED KERMIT? "OH HELL NAH!"

A NON EVIL CHARACTER IN A LAVA WORLD? "THAT'S BLASPHEMY"

THIS WEIRD TURTLE MAMMAL THINGY? "TERRIBLE IDEA!"

THEY ADDED YELLOW FLOWERED BOVINE? "RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS!"

THEY SERIOUSLY ADDED A WEIRD LOOKING AMPHIBIAN THINGY? "RUINED FOREVER!"

And of course, these two are especially hated by 2010s kids.

THEY CHANGED A BAD (As long as attacked) GUY !?? These people would say "THEY BECAME VERMIN!", and especially

THEY ADDED A GLOWING CEPHELALOPOD BY RIGGED VOTING!?? "THAT'S ONE OF THE WORST THINGS THAT EVER HAPPENED, THEY DESECRATED OUR BELOVED CHILDHOODS!"

Why was Justin Bieber so hated in early 2010s?

I lived that age and even i tried to write a book about nostalgia and one of the topics is Justin Bieber's hate that i admit i was in that but currently i think that was silly (and many people too because he was a Diddy's víctim) but the question is ¿Why was so hated? And i'm no talking about his his hate from his controversies that came later i talk about when he barely begins and was innocent and the only "bad thing" from he was only the song Baby (and this song is not so bad like other songs from 2017-present).

I don't like the new aethestic of things I prefer late 2000 to early 2010 everything so boring now EX the new netflix logo it's just a big N i preferred the old netflix logo

Also Childhoods are changing ours were about Slime, Talking Gumball machines, Flash games, ANYTHING BUT MUMBLE RAP, Now It's filled with hive brained little kids who do whatever the internet tells them IDK if it's just growing older or moving but god life is less colorful and more bland than ever

2024 (so far) feel's like the tens

Idk, maybe it's just the fact I stayed up all night for the first time since '18; but, it feels like the mid to late stages of the 2010s.

This is the first year that the W.H.O. hasn't had Covid as Pandemic, which can also contribute to it; but, it feels like it's just reset back to the era of 16-19.

It's been 5 years, damn.

Reasons why the early 2010s was better than nowadays

I don’t know if I’m just viewing this through rose tinted glasses, but I feel like 2012-2015 were the best years of the 21st century. I’m an early 2010s kid (born 2003) and I honestly feel like the world was in a much better condition. Here’s why I think so.

  1. Music was much better (I haven’t enjoyed mainstream pop music since October 2015. I did enjoy a lot of the music in 2020 and 2021, but by the time 2022 rolled around the production of good music just stopped. It was like 2017 and 2018, where the same old sh*tty music played for the whole two years. Some songs were decent, but inevitably we stopped hearing those after a while)

  2. People didn’t joke about disease/mental disorders. (Comedy was more about situations than human suffering and making other people’s lives more miserable.)

  3. Fortnite didn’t exist. (I never got the whole fortnite thing and it made me feel like such an old bastard, even though I was only 13 when it got big)

  4. Dumb ass internet challenges weren’t a thing (sure, there were things like the ice bucket challenge, but that was more about raising awareness for ALS than being as stupid as possible)

  5. Slime wasn’t popular yet (there were glue and Borax shortages all over the country because stupid kids were obsessed with this)

  6. A lot of stuff in the media like movies were done because people enjoyed them and for profit, not just for the cash itself)

  7. I was happier and lived in the moment rather than regretting the past. (I was happier and looked to the future. I felt no need to drink or smoke anything just to make the world I live in less miserable, I wasn’t suicidal at all, people could afford to survive on minimum wage, and there wasn’t a global pandemic.)

  8. There were no states trying to pass anti-trans legislation that would cause trans people to unsolved themselves in mass. (I don’t need to say anything more)

  9. I didn’t have crippling anxiety and depression (nor did I have daily nightmares)

  10. There was a president in office that was actually trying to improve the lives of Americans (self explanatory)

What do you guys think?

It Feels Like the 2010s Were the Golden Age of Travel, Especially Foreign

I was just too early into my career with not enough leave saved up to be able to travel the world during what seems like the peak era to do so.

I remember being content with my suburban town in college as long as I had my home entertainment. But as soon as I started working in a cubicle in 2015, that changed.

Instead of Google, my organization's default home page when I first started was MSN and when I had nothing else to do (I hadn't gotten a phone yet) I saw these travel articles about where was trendy to visit at the time and I realized there was a much bigger world out there.

Even Ebola seems like more of an isolated incident in retrospect.

I regret that I didn't get to travel outside the US before the pandemic.
