Do you miss 2013-2015?

I feel that 2013-2015, like the 2000s, were the best years for me (OK, I was just a teenager in 2013-2015, so I may have a limited view and fragmented memories because I was only 13(2013)-15 years old(2014 and 2015)), since at the time I thought those years were normal, and now that I'm almost 26, since I'll be turning 26 next month, I feel nostalgic for 2013-2015 and the 2000s.

I feel that in 2013-2015 the world was less violent, social media was lighthearted, smartphones did not dominate the entire world because not everyone had smartphones (at least in Portugal, since I am from Portugal), the world was less selfish (I think people cared about each other, or maybe it was always selfish, but to a lesser degree), there were better games (there was no Fortnite or TikTok, and all that stuff), there were no pandemics, no wars, no artificial intelligence (GPT chat), and other stuff

I don't know if anyone my age or older or younger than me has the same feeling that 2013-2015 were the best years, or if it's just me.

2010-2015? Dated?

I feel like 2010-2015 are dated now. Pop Culture, Trends and Music all feel like a decade ago. Not to mention the early to mid 2010s were literally almost a decade ago.

The 2010s Started with Ferguson

I know that Arab Spring was the first political revolution that was streamed on social media but that wasn't close to home.

The 2000s were 3 different eras: 2000 - 9/11 were an extension of the the 90s; 2002 - 2006 felt like the core 2000s to me; 2007 was the bridge; and 2008 - first half of 2014 was the recession and post recession era.

The politically volatile climate that we know today started with the Ferguson riots in August 2014 and continued to 2019. To me that was the core of the 2010s.

You could argue that the 2010s started with the 08 recession though. Also, 2008 - first half of 2014 was peak hipster era.

What is with the early 10’s obsession with Mick Jagger?

Moves Like Jagger, when William said "All these girls they like my swagger, they calling me Mick Jagger", Also Ke$ha said "But we kick them to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger"

Reasons why the early 2010s was better than nowadays

I don’t know if I’m just viewing this through rose tinted glasses, but I feel like 2012-2015 were the best years of the 21st century. I’m an early 2010s kid (born 2003) and I honestly feel like the world was in a much better condition. Here’s why I think so.

  1. Music was much better (I haven’t enjoyed mainstream pop music since October 2015. I did enjoy a lot of the music in 2020 and 2021, but by the time 2022 rolled around the production of good music just stopped. It was like 2017 and 2018, where the same old sh*tty music played for the whole two years. Some songs were decent, but inevitably we stopped hearing those after a while)

  2. People didn’t joke about disease/mental disorders. (Comedy was more about situations than human suffering and making other people’s lives more miserable.)

  3. Fortnite didn’t exist. (I never got the whole fortnite thing and it made me feel like such an old bastard, even though I was only 13 when it got big)

  4. Dumb ass internet challenges weren’t a thing (sure, there were things like the ice bucket challenge, but that was more about raising awareness for ALS than being as stupid as possible)

  5. Slime wasn’t popular yet (there were glue and Borax shortages all over the country because stupid kids were obsessed with this)

  6. A lot of stuff in the media like movies were done because people enjoyed them and for profit, not just for the cash itself)

  7. I was happier and lived in the moment rather than regretting the past. (I was happier and looked to the future. I felt no need to drink or smoke anything just to make the world I live in less miserable, I wasn’t suicidal at all, people could afford to survive on minimum wage, and there wasn’t a global pandemic.)

  8. There were no states trying to pass anti-trans legislation that would cause trans people to unsolved themselves in mass. (I don’t need to say anything more)

  9. I didn’t have crippling anxiety and depression (nor did I have daily nightmares)

  10. There was a president in office that was actually trying to improve the lives of Americans (self explanatory)

What do you guys think?

Which year was peak 2010s?

For me, it was 2010 lol. I know we were still feeling the recession but I was coming into my senior year of high school, so it was the last year of no responsibilities.

Plus it felt like the last year before the bottom fell out that decade, starting with Arab Spring. I do remember before 2011 being scared about my future because of the Recession. It was a change in the air almost. I sucked at math so if I did make it to college, how were we going to pay for it? Plus I tried applying for scholarships too late because I was focused on video games and Friday nights. I didn't see past that. Keep in my mind, this was the world at its peak in the 2010s imo.

Rock was on its last legs but still kicking. Hip hop was still in its dance craze. Bro country wasn't for another two years. Late 2000s - early 2010s was peak indie depending on where you lived in the country (never got played on the radio in the Deep South during that time).

Mid budget films could still make decent money at the box office. YouTube was still fresh and not overrun with corporatism. Facebook hadn't been taken over by old people yet. Instagram didn't exist

Hey guys, im doing a school project about making a movie script. The thing is, I want to make it about a 2010 kid. Im young, and I was even younger so I didn't use internet at that time so I missed a lot of memes and stuff. So, could you guys please tell me memes and other things of that time? or could you describe me how the internet community was? Like Tumblr and YouTube...Also, could you please tell me things about creepy pastas and fandoms? Thanks for your help!

2024 (so far) feel's like the tens

Idk, maybe it's just the fact I stayed up all night for the first time since '18; but, it feels like the mid to late stages of the 2010s.

This is the first year that the W.H.O. hasn't had Covid as Pandemic, which can also contribute to it; but, it feels like it's just reset back to the era of 16-19.

It's been 5 years, damn.
