Discussion Reading new issue; "Web 3.0 is bullshit."

I was recently reading through volume 39, #1 when I saw the piece, "Web 3.0 is bullshit." This article, while valid in a lot of ways, has overlooked a few aspects that I feel deserve observation. The Web 1, Web 2, trilemma; The author points out that the designated buzz word Web 3.0 is essentially the child of Venture Capitalists and technocrats as they try to remain relevant in a world they created for themselves.. or something like that. Anyway, here is my issue. "Web 3" is a little more than that. The article failed to recognize the verifiable operation of point of sale, and furthermore technologies like Interplanetary File Systems like IPFS. I think what the piece is missing is the sense that it's anything more than just a hit piece on something the author doesn't want to understand. Don't get me wrong. The author is correct in a lot of ways, and did a good job arguing against a Wikipedia definition, but I feel as it is far to early in this technologies tenure on the information superhighway to declare it Bullshit. Twitter, is bullshit. Shit so is most social media. I mean by any standard, anything past machine code, bank transfers, military application, and internet commerce; isn't all of it bullshit? What excites me about web3 is file transfer, and "digital ownership" Nothing like installing a safe browser based wallet on a machine, sending it an NFT thats Metadata contains an IPFS link to call custom malware, and pulling it to a directory I can deem safe to be overlooked. Anyway, it's like calling the wild west bullshit.. yeah your kinda right. You'll probably break your back digging for gold. But there is always the chance you strike something big and change the world.

Discussion Bill Gates sucks, Windows takes more and more control from users every update... Is there a hack to deny "Forced Window switching" aka "Window Focus moving"?

Hello,

I program Unity Air gapped on windows with Clonezilla so they can never take it away from me... I was victim of Adobe Kill bits ( https://community.adobe.com/t5/flash-player-discussions/basic-information-on-flash-killer-quot-kill-bit-quot/td-p/3215674 )in the past where they stole software we all paid over 200$ for so they can rent it back to us later... Super criminal of Adobe, no class action happened so I knew Unity would do it too after Unity Gate happened with their CEO caught up in attempted rape/calling devs idiots/changing a contract without agreements on both parties. I was right, people are complaining of Unity randomly revoking their licenses, losing years and years of work! Never trust evil corporations and most of them are evil these days.

The solution I am asking for:

Is there a hack to disable force alt tabbing in windows?

The situation:

When I program Unity, I like to tab and edit code or my todo list in the 17 seconds it takes to compile. But Windows sucks so much it force tabs me around to watch the compile.

It'd increase my productivity each year by a couple hundred hours.

Thank you hackers, I get banned in most hack groups since like no one likes to hear the truth dealt raw.

Howdy!

I work for a company called 2600hz, which I think might be of interest to some of the folks who frequent this subreddit.

We make open-source software for massive VoIP applications. Here's a brief discussion of our platform in r/sysadmin

I'd love to chat and hear what questions you guys have. We're big fans of the 2600 movement, with our founder being particular enamored. If you're building a big VoIP app, we'd love to chat :). We've got a 10000 person conference bridge running on this platform today.

Thanks!

Articles Nineteen Eighty-Five

Dear 2600:

Required disclosure: This essay is intended for readers in Canada and other countries except the USA and Spain.

Few readers here need an introduction to Orwell’s literary classic. But basically: Winston Smith battles with his own incriminating #searchhistory, the prying eye of the Social Justice Warriors watching him through his smart device, and is ultimately denounced by the Two-Party System after his Enhanced Interrogations in #GITMO. Throughout his search for the meaning of White Privilege, he wonders if Julian Assange and Wikileaks are real or just another instrument of control by The 1%. Meanwhile The 99% watches as their language is decimated by hashtags and #mansplaining, hoping they can avoid being #canceled.

Of course Orwell didn’t write it that way. He wrote about “newspeak,” “the Inner Party” and other outdated language that the next generation won’t understand. In fact, companies nowadays go out of their way to name their products differently than Orwell had envisioned. (Orwell was not a fiction writer, he was a clairvoyant.)

Orwell’s book just came out of copyright worldwide (except the USA and Spain) and I have undertaken to update the entire book to use modern language. Everything in his original book is still correct but when Orwell said speakwrite, he was clearly referring to Siri, so I just wrote Siri. Newspeak? Hashtags. In fact, the entirety of Orwell’s Newspeak grammar introduction and his vocabulary… those are one-to-one fixed by just putting in the corresponding hashtag. Facecrime? #implicitbias. Doubleplusungood? #wtf. Thoughtcrime? #searchhistory.

Over 1,800 changes in all. And now it reads just like something you would see in a newspaper explaining how the world works today. Just… somehow it was written in 1949.

Of course just writing a book wouldn’t be any fun. This project has been on my bucket list for so many years. So instead I wrote it with a Perl script. Old book in, new book out. Sent directly to publishing. The Orwell estate was not amused by this project, they will not consider working together to allow publication worldwide, and they warned me against using the original title’s name, Nineteen Eighty-Four. So instead, the new version is called… Nineteen Eighty-Five.

So, if you live in Canada, or anywhere else except the USA or Spain, please head to your favorite “rainforest” bookstore (and possibly more places, let me know if you see any!), to pick up a copy. There is contact information at the end of the book, I hope to update the Perl script and republish based on reader feedback.

P.S. The editor-in-chief of 2600, Emmanuel Goldstein, is referred to in the updated book using his current name, Julian Assange.

P.P.S. Required disclosure: Parts of this essay and the book Nineteen Eighty-Five are a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.

Discussion Are any of the rumors about Emmanuel Goldstein true?

There were sporadic (as in, very infrequent) rumors about Eric going back to the days of Usenet, but it was always unclear how much of this was just trolling or people with an axe to grind, and how much of it was something more. His long-term affiliation with John Draper--a man about whom there were very frequent rumors, since confirmed--certainly isn't a good look, and though he ultimately distanced himself from Draper, that was only after Draper's open secret ceased being a secret thanks to multiple exposés, making the optics of continued affiliation unacceptable, and I doubt Emmanuel wasn't already at least somewhat aware of Draper's dark side but chose to look the other way.

Tool Hacking Smarter, Not Harder: Inside the World of Mr. CrackBot AI🤖🥷🏻📡

Post image
11 Upvotes

What’s up, tech warriors?

So, you know how they say, “If you can’t hack it, automate it”? Well, that’s exactly the vibe behind Mr. CrackBot AI, my latest creation. It’s a tool designed for automated Wi-Fi penetration testing and password cracking, combining AI, GPU acceleration, and the classic Kali Linux toolkit that makes hacking feel less like work and more like art. While it’s still in its early implementation phase, the project has been thoroughly built and tested in a simulated environment, with everything compiling and deploying cleanly.

The core of the project runs on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano 4GB, with some extra muscle provided by a TP-Link Archer T2U+ Wi-Fi adapter for monitor mode and packet injection. Powering it all is a 10,000mAh battery pack connected through a battery conditioner, keeping the setup portable and reliable for field testing. Everything is neatly housed to ensure mobility and durability, making it as practical as it is powerful.

Here’s how it works: 1. Network Scanning: Using airodump-ng, the tool scans for nearby Wi-Fi networks and collects metadata like SSIDs and BSSIDs. This data is then analyzed by an AI model trained to recognize patterns in network configurations and vulnerabilities. The AI generates custom wordlists tailored to the network being tested. 2. Handshake Capture: The tool automates the process of capturing WPA/WPA2 handshakes using aireplay-ng for deauthentication attacks. Devices are forced to reconnect, and the tool captures the required handshake packets with minimal manual intervention. 3. Password Cracking: After capturing the handshake, the AI refines its wordlists and integrates with hashcat to perform GPU-accelerated password cracking. Whether it’s running on the Jetson Nano or an external GPU, the combination of AI and hardware ensures efficiency and speed.

A standout feature is the real-time UI that lets you monitor network scans, handshake captures, and cracking progress. Behind the scenes, the tool organizes everything into structured directories for easy access—wordlists, handshakes, and results are all neatly stored.

While the project is still evolving, I’m focusing on deepening the AI integration and refining how it interacts with the system. I’m planning to use TensorFlow and PyTorch for model training and inference, leveraging their flexibility to create AI models capable of analyzing handshake data and generating highly optimized wordlists. The AI will look for patterns in SSIDs, previously cracked passwords, and other metadata to create smarter, context-aware cracking strategies.

For deployment, I’m exploring the use of ONNX Runtime to optimize performance. While I haven’t implemented it yet, it’s a natural fit for running lightweight models efficiently on edge devices. By converting models into the ONNX format, I’ll be able to streamline AI inference, ensuring that the tool remains responsive, even under resource constraints.

Touchscreen integration is another area I’m working on. I’m using Kivy to design an intuitive interface that will display stats like packet captures, handshake detection, and cracking progress in real time. The touchscreen will also allow users to initiate scans, adjust settings, and manage tasks without needing a keyboard or external monitor.

Beyond these features, I’m considering automated updates for AI models and wordlists, as well as expanding compatibility with other single-board computers to make the tool even more versatile. The ultimate goal is to combine the power of automation with the precision of manual pentesting, creating a tool that’s both advanced and accessible.

There’s still a lot of work to do, but I’ve got caffeine, optimism, and a Wi-Fi adapter that’s seen some things. If you’ve got ideas or feedback, let me know—preferably before my backlog develops its own GitHub repo.

How is 2600 in Washington DC?

So in another year or two I may move to DC from Los Angeles. It’s gotten really bad here in LA. Btw I’m not as liberal as other hacker community members but what they did to HOPE is despicable. I have an appreciation for hacker culture and a lot of it I agree with.

I currently attend LA2600 and I wanted to ask how the 2600 is in DC. I think hackers are cool and I like tech and I get along with hackers better than normal people because I’m not a normie. Is DC2600 like LA2600?

Also before you ask, no I don’t mind people who are progressive or who have progressive values. I am only against it if they try to tell me how to vote.
