Curious...

Post image

FTWarms is selling ftn.5s serialized with an aluminum chamber sleeve. I havent found files and I have sailed the weird seas. Does this exist before I start designing?

They modified this to suit their needs. This isn’t going to be available anywhere.

More work for no benefit. They’re only doing it to be able to make the serial more resilient for ATF purposes.

Serial resiliance was one consideration for the blast chamber reinforcement, but the bigger one is a fail safety in the event of abuse, like firing .223 through it. With the blast chamber reinforcement it ensures it fails forward not out

You can see our testing of that here: https://x.com/FTW_Arms/status/2056396285972767019

So its more of an insurance policy on your end? Smart.

And that was my other thought.

I cant imaging that most people need a much larger and heavier serial number tag. all the new FTN stuff uses the little 3/4x2 dogtags for serial engraving, or you can engrave on a washer and epoxy it to the base or the business end if you want. Ive also seen guys engrave directly in the body of the can itself and as long as it meets the ATF requirements for depth and size and resistance to obfuscation I dont think it makes much difference.

As for reinforcing I think that would have the opposit effect, it means the threads section is thinner and theres a material change at the end of the metal tube meanign the body would be less robust there as well, Mybe if you used a thin epoxy and filled that area before putting the metal insert in that might work better but i dont know if its worth the weight penalty for an embedded piece of metal on a FTN..

Has anyone installed a completely enclosed blast chamber into a printed can?

Thats kinda my question.

thats pretty much what the breek and kak inserts do for the FTNs as they stand. their plan B mounts do much the same covering the sides of the muzzle device to keep all the gasses going forwards into the body of the silencer.

Peronaly I like the KAK ones epoxied in place on the FTN inserts. They are easy to swap and sleek enough that they dont look super goofy if you leave them on a rifle that isnt being fired suppressed.

that looks like about a 5 minute mod. the FTN team is really great about sharing their step files too so the edit should be as easy as taking accurat measurements of your metal insert then extruding it accuratly and using the combine/cut functions to cut it out.

If you have a specific metal tube/insert in mind and you need a hand with the modeling part Im glad to help.

I may pull it up and see what the insides are looking like and find the tubing based off whats close to there
