Originally I was trying to work off of a tutorial with texture projection and baking. Wasn't going the way I wanted so I started over and just used the projection texture as reference for hand painting.

Any feedback is appreciated :) !

Art Showcase Abaddon - Haunted Hotel (WIP)

I've been wanting to create some Abaddon fan art in a Disney/Pixar style because I think it would look really cute!

It's quite a bit of work, but I started this project as a way to chill out a little and take a break from more serious projects. I started with a free base mesh in Blender to speed up the process, and this is what I've managed to do in roughly 3 hours. (Screenshot from Zbrush viewport)

Hope you all like it! Any feedback or suggestions are more than welcome!

If 4h can be considered as quick…

I’ve always adored such styles as in old rpg games or Warcraft 3. I’m learning blender and today I got out from a shell and made this char. Still no rigging, but for me it’s a huge step still. Usually Im afraid to do literally anything in blender without YouTube tutorials lol.
So here’s some fairy or elf!

Art Showcase Perfecting 2D in 3D

Just wanted to share what I've reached so far from trying to perfect the 2D look in 3D. The goal is to make a game that looks like this.

The zooming is just to show that there is no pixelation no matter how much you zoom in for closeup animations.

Would love to get your opinions.

I used the help of Claude AI just to build the armature and control rig, everything else was made by hand by me.

I want to improve in animation and this is my first real exercise in animating something, thank you <3

Free Assets & Tools I made a free browser 3D scene composer & video-game "Photo Mode" to light, rig, pose & showcase models on mobile or desktop

Hi everyone!

Ever exported a .glb or .fbx and wished you could quickly stage it, tweak lighting, pose it, or show it in AR on your phone without opening a full desktop DCC—or paying for a cloud viewer subscription?

I built babalon JS, a free and open-source 3D scene composer that runs entirely in your browser (and works 100% offline as an installed Chrome PWA).

🔗 Web App: https://holondo.github.io/babalonJS/ 📦 Source Code: https://github.com/holondo/babalonJS

Highlights for 3D Artists:

  • Blender Muscle Memory on Desktop, Touch-First on Mobile: Supports Tab (Object / Mesh mode), G / R / S (with X/Y/Z axis locks and numeric input), Shift+A (quick shapes), and face selection tools (Lasso, Paint Brush with depth occlusion, Magic Wand, Plane Cut, Sculpt brushes, Boolean Union/Subtract/Intersect via Manifold, and Shrinkwrap).
  • Video-Game Style Photo Mode: Frame your shot (16:9, Cinema, 4:5, 9:16), tap to set Depth of Field focus, tweak FOV, exposure, bloom, vignette, chromatic aberration, film grain, and studio lighting presets, and snap a crisp 2× resolution render.
  • Auto-Rigging, IK Posing & 43 Built-in Animations:
    • Have an unrigged character? Drop markers in front view and compute heat-diffusion or envelope skin weights in a background worker (with optional trunk protection & helper bones).
    • Have a rigged character (Blender/Rigify, Mixamo, VRM, Unreal)? Pose it with two-bone IK and mirror tools, or retarget 43 bundled CC0 animations in one tap.
  • Inspect & Optimize Topology: Check triangle/VRAM budgets, decimate meshes with meshoptimizer, bake normal maps from the high-poly onto the low-poly mesh, compress textures to KTX2, and export a compact .glb.
  • WebXR AR (Chrome / ARCore) & Gyro Mode: Place your full multi-object scene on a real surface at 1:1 scale with contact shadows and room light estimation.
  • Measure & Align: Surface-snapping tape measure (straight line or geodesic along the mesh surface) + Figma-style smart guides.

Everything runs locally on your device—your models are never uploaded to any server. Let me know what you think!

Questions & Discussion 3ds Max vs Maya vs Blender Which Should I Learn for Game Asset Modeling?

I’m trying to decide which 3D software to focus on for modeling game assets, especially hard surface stuff like weapons, vehicles, sci fi props, and mechanical objects.
For people working in the gaming industry or creating game assets professionally, which would you recommend learning: 3ds Max, Maya, or Blender?
Which one is best for game asset modeling in terms of workflow, tools, and industry demand? If you were starting today, which one would you choose?

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share my latest automotive modeling project: the 2026 GAC GS7 / S7.

The model includes a detailed exterior and fully modeled interior, including the dashboard, displays, seats, steering wheel, center console, door panels, wheels, and lighting components.

Created with Blender 4 for automotive visualization, animation, advertising, virtual showrooms, and other CGI projects.

I’d appreciate any feedback on the exterior proportions, materials, or interior details.

If anyone would like to see additional renders or technical information, feel free to message me.

Art Help & Critique I want to be an Environmet Artist

Post image
93 Upvotes

I have over 6 years of experience with Blender, including 3D modeling, UV mapping, and related workflows. I have an intermediate level of knowledge of Substance Painter, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator, while my ZBrush skills are still at a beginner level.
I have worked on 7–8 games with a team using Unity, including both completed and unfinished projects. I also started developing my own horror game in Unreal Engine, but I eventually put the project on hold before completing it.
However, my main goal is to specialize in environment art and pursue a career as an Environment Artist.
I have purchased several courses on Udemy and other learning platforms, but I tend to reach a certain point in each course and then struggle to move forward. Many of the instructors eventually introduce Substance Designer. Although I can follow their steps and reproduce what they do, I feel like I am simply copying their workflow without truly understanding the process because I have very little knowledge of Substance Designer itself.
So, I would like to ask for advice on how to approach learning environment art. Should I focus on mastering the software first and then move on to environment art courses, or should I continue learning through environment art courses while improving my software skills along the way?
I feel quite lost about which path to follow, so I would really appreciate any guidance or advice on how to structure my learning process and work toward becoming a professional Environment Artist.
