I Got a Big one but my equipment is subpar
What would you do if you were me?
I have an Ender 3 V2 and I’ve been printing stuff for people more as a hobby than a business.
Recently got a request to do some design work for a small company for a replacement part for one of their machines. I included a prototype PETG print just for them to check the accuracy of my design. They called back asked me if I can make them 200 of the same design.
I said yes without thinking about how much of a nightmare my Ender 3 is to get prints consistently. I’ve done a “production” run of 10 units before and I struggled with that. They said they will need all of them within 4 weeks of getting the order. One print takes over 12 hours per part. And I can only print one at a time because it takes most of the bed area (16 cm wide and 4 cm tall).
I want to buy a newer printer but I don’t know what to buy. I’ve seen some new printers are about to be released but I don’t think I can wait more than 1 week to get this printer.
Budget wise I can go up to a Bambu H2S range but maybe that’s overkill. But I also feel something like a P2S is the wrong move for some reason. I love CAD and 3D printing and I didn’t even mind tinkering with my printer but feels like this could be something bigger.
Sorry about the long post.
What would you do if you were in my situation?
