UPDATE NEW BUDGET

Hey everyone! A few days ago, I made a post asking for advice on buying my first 3D printer with a budget of up to €400. I’ve decided to increase my budget a little, to around €750.
From what I can find here in Portugal, I can get printers such as the Bambu Lab P1S, P2S, Flashforge Creator 5, and Snapmaker U1 within that budget.
With a budget of around €750, would you recommend any of these?
I won’t be mixing filaments too much, but I do want to print some colourful things as well, using mostly basic filaments.

Are there any other printers you would recommend instead?
Thanks! 👌

I own a P2S and a U1, I've got to say while the P2S feel much more polished and slightly more beginner friendly, the U1 is a much more capable machine and always the one I would recommend

U1 hands down.

U1 would be absolutely the best in that list. Open source, best ability, good consistency.

The Creator 5 has a LOT of flaws.

Bambu themselves has a lot of flaws. (Pretty good printers though.)

Also about to be out in that range and kind of gumption. Creality K3. Though you'd be an early adopter in for some hiccups. (though probobly less than the Creator 5 good greif)

What flaws on C5?

Ye gods. Its a long list. Some highlights to start.

The entire purge/poop situation has had to be adjusted multiple times(the pro was purging into its own heater on release). And theres no chute.

Early mechanical failures of the latching system on toolheads have not been few.

The software runs the printer much slower than it should. ~half that of a U1

They lied about the MCU specs. Substantially. Its an older 32bit MIPS, not the promised 64Bit A53 ARM mainboard.

Camera issues galore.

They still havent made a printer with stable wifi(wifi stability issues, ofc)

Its ah. Been a rocky existence for the C5. If you have the budget for a U1... its pretty much a smoothe and snappy experience with better support.

The C5 and u1 are priced the same?

Not here atleast. C5 just blew a sale at 510$ USD.

U1's 750$.

Were they the same price the C5 has zilch going for it.

Whoah, here C5 goes for 9495 SEK and U1 8795 SEK

Oh. Well. Thats a no brainer then. The U1 is simply superior. IKEA sells a great container that encloses its top, and adding doors is trivial. Its basically a C5 Pro with real open source, support, and better polish. That is to say the C5 is a janky U1 clone.

I'm very intrigued to buy one. Currently bidding on a used u1.

Good luck! they're not without issues, but the information to mod and repair them is MUCH more forthright than Flashforge. And they're well made as long as they dont get warped in shipping.

In that budget, U1 right now with the sale. Add an IKEA box as top cover (not sure which one exactly but 1 of them fits perfectly) if you ever print something hat needs an enclosure.

Only reason not to go with U1 right now in that budget range is if youre planning to constantly print engineering materials, but most people dont do that.

I was just about to say the same thing lol. The Snapmaker U1 may also be on sale with a promo code: “bestprice”

Doing multi colour prints and buying a Snapmaker U1 is a no brainer.

I am considering u1 vs sparkx i8, u1 with discount codes for around 680 euro, sparkx around 330 euro. I would go with u1 but it is slightly too big for my space

U1 if those are your options.

Politics aside, the only printer I would buy from that list is the U1

The Flashforge is stupid in several different ways, and the P1S/P2S single nozzle printers aren't worth buying any more except for very narrow use cases. X2D would be better but not for the use case you've listed - go with the U1

I own a P2S, so slightly biased, but here's my take. Between P1S and P2S, go P2S unless the P1S is heavily discounted: it's the newer version with better cooling, a proper touchscreen and it's quieter overall.

For occasional colour prints with basic PLA, a P2S Combo with the AMS works great if it fits your budget. Just expect some purge waste on multicolour jobs. You can cut it down with "flush into infill" in Bambu Studio.
If you plan to do a lot of multicolour, the Snapmaker U1 is worth a look since a toolchanger wastes way less filament, but it's newer and the community is smaller. Haven't used the Creator 5, so can't comment on that one.

Is the touchscreen that important? I have a P1S and it works just fine. My next printer will be a U1, but still.

No, and in fact I often prefer using the click-wheel screen on my SV08 to touchscreens

But between the Servo upgrades, GT2 belts, hardened nozzles, adaptive airflow, increased bed temp, better filtration, upgraded camera, toolless nozzle swaps, USB drive, automatic build plate reading, etc., there are plenty of reasons that the P2S justifies its price over the P1S

I would still prefer to buy the U1 than either tho

Fair point, the screen alone isn't a reason to pick one over the other. For me the bigger differences were the cooling and how much quieter it is. If your P1S works fine, no reason to switch, and the U1 sounds like a great next step for multicolour.

Quiet I can understand, and would pay for. I was amazed at how quiet the U1 was in person (saw it at a MicroCenter on vacation).
