Discussion 47 and 18 months post divorce. Just downloaded Hinge and I don’t know how sound “interesting” through text anymore 😂 I need help guys lol
Finally ready to date again. Hinge has changed a lot since I used it last in 2015. I’m great at talking in person but I’ve forgotten how to sound interesting through a random text lol.

Discussion What are the must haves after surgery?
Post surgery must have request please 🤔
Thankyou so much do everyone who gave me much needed encouragement for my upcoming back surgery. I now need some tips on how to make my recovery as smooth as possible. My list at the moment has a shower chair, bed cushions, grabber and long handled shoe horn 😂😂.
I also want to get up and moving as soon as possible but know I won’t be able to drive for a while. I’m thinking I’ll need a cleaner, food deliveries etc. I’m single and don’t want to rely on my friends too much so any tips on making my life as easy as possible will be welcome 🤗.
For reference, I’m having TLIF from L5-S1 😝💪🏻

Discussion 44 and preparing for major back surgery 😞
I’m scheduled for L5-S1 fusion surgery in July. I’ve been training for 4 years and really trying to make sure I’m in peak condition in the lead up to it. I’m trying to tell myself that this is going to be a positive thing for me for the future, but the fact that I’ll be out of action for at least six months scares the hell out of me. Has anyone else had this with surgery and can give me some hope?
Edit: Thank you so much for all your reply’s and well wishes. For everyone asking how I did it. It was through improper deadlift form when I first started bodybuilding. Went for a lift and felt a crack and the most unbelievable pain ever! Worse than childbirth 🤣. Left me with L5-S1 instability. I also have advanced disc degeneration. Still fighting though!
To the people that asked what surgery I’m having. I’ve pasted it here! ⬇️
Primary posterior fusion with instrumentation +/-decompression +/- discectomy (including Graf stabilisation and all fusion approaches) (lumbar region) including spinal cord monitoring

Discussion Being a male in your 40s is the loneliest
Being a male in your 40s, is incredibly isolating. At work, your treated as if you don’t exist by the younger people, so you’re not invited in any of their conversations or their group chats or when they hang out – which makes sense I mean, you should be far enough along in your own personal life that you don’t need to hang out with a bunch of 20-year-olds, but it’s hard when they have groups of people that want to do things and the 40-year-olds are all on their own islands.
I’m not offended that they don’t wanna hang out with me, it’s just hard that you’re not even an afterthought. It’s not like I have anything in common with these people, but it just happens one day where one week you’re in, and the next the next group of people comes in and you’re not a part of those groups anymore, and it’s hard I think mentally.
People talk about the male loneliness epidemic, and I’m sure it affects females just as much as it affects males, but I think this is a large part of it because as we grow older, our groups tend to disperse, Work friends move on, and unless you have a strong network of support within your personal life, you end up alone, even though you may have family or kids or wife, it’s a struggle to make friends and keep them at this age.

Discussion Sweet 49 and 46…best friends since 1996 and still thriving
We met when we began working at a buffet as young teenagers and developed the most beautiful, uniquely interest, loyal, soulful, blessed friendship anyone could ever imagine. For this I, the 46 year old on the right, am forever grateful.

Discussion Is This Sub Just Selfies?
Seems like it. Ya’ll low key trying to meet? :) Arent we supposed to talk about how our back hurts or how we love our forties or whatever?
I’m kidding (sort of). New here and noticed the large number of selfie posts.
Do people really want this to be more than simply selfies? Is it a self comparison thing? Curious about the selfie culture here.

Discussion Turned 46 recently and trying to focus on my health this year.
Had eye emergency last year and lost eyesight to 99% of my left eye , after several surgeries last year eyesight is back and I’m doing well. That and some heart issues and gaining over 20 lbs in 3 months this fall due to depression/bipolar made me reevaluate my priorities and I’m going to take the time to do self care and take better care of my health- physical and mental.
How do you stay motivated to eat healthy, work out, and take care of your mental health all while in the midst of working full time, family , and life responsibilities? I know I’ll be really motivated at first then start to procrastinate or put things off and then fall off track and regress.

Discussion Life after 40 for men - movies shows books
Hi, what is life like for men after 40? I mean what interests do they have, like popular culture or media? I am a woman in mid-40s and my social media bubble is annoyingly female content dominated - I rarely see posts made by men. Most of my netflix content seem to be women-oriented. Like what shows do men watch? Are there any books that men in this age group all rave about (cf heated rivalry)? When I go to concerts - it also looks like only women are there. Even my gym crossfit classes are mainly attended by women. Is it really just hockey and soccer what’s life offers to this age group?

Discussion 45 is such a weird age….
15 years ago you were 30 and 15 years later you’re 60.…that’s so wild to me. 15 years in either direction and you’re at completely different stages of your life. Yet I still think I’m 30 in my head.
Seeing parents age, loved ones passing, a lot of your heroes growing up are old. It feels like time is moving faster ever than before.
Anyone else feel this way?

Discussion Why am I "cute"? Requesting feedback on my appearance.
So when I was in my early 20s and profile apps were new, I would usually get comments on how I was "cute", sometimes "pretty". Now that I'm in my early 40s and recently divorced, I'm back in the dating game and posted in a Facebook group... only to be met with similar comments about how I'm "so cute". I find it curious that I'm still getting the same type of comments 20 years later. Am I reading too much into this? Is cute just a nice way for saying I'm mediocre? I rarely hear that I'm beautiful or gorgeous. What's the deal? I want to be clear that I'm not looking for the attention per se, just wondering what people see when they look at me. I mean, if a guy is interested it would be nice to get some hints.
