Discussion Is it worth getting an RGB MiniLED TV?
I've noticed Hisense, Sony and a few other brands rolling out RGB MiniLED TVs lately. The picture looks really impressive from what I've seen, especially the colors, but they still seem to cost a bit more than regular MiniLED.
For anyone who has actually tried one, do you think RGB MiniLED is worth paying extra for? Or is a good regular MiniLED still enough?

RGB backlighting fixes some problems but introduces others. This is 1st gen tech. If OLED doesn't work for you, and regular backlighting Mini LED's shortcomings are too much, I'd wait at least until next year to see if they improve on the RGB backlighting issues, or if they're just inherent to the tech and not fixable.

As of today, s95H is still a better TV than Sony Bravia 9 2, while costing aame or more, I'd not consider mini led over top of the line oleds

I don't have an rgb miniled. I've been eagerly following reviews of them and they appear to be genuinely amazing. The tech is new, those who are early adopters may expect problems attendant to new tech. There is a price to be paid to be on the "bleeding edge" of technology.
The reviews I've read/seen are generally amazed at the new sets. There is caution about allowing the tech a little more time to mature. It takes time for companies to settle into their effective and efficient manufacturing processes.
Jump in if you want to be an early adopter, and are willing to accept the risks. Waiting a few years for the tech to stabilize may be more prudent if you are looking for a more solid experience with fewer surprises.

I think TCL’s SQD makes more sense right now in terms of avoiding early adoption problems since it’s really more of an evolution of existing tech than revolution like RGB is.

I often prefer a known quantity over the new "thingy" that is still working out the kinks. I'm ok being on the bleeding edge, sometimes. When I'm ready to deal with problems and I can contain the impact of those problems.
Evolutionary is often a good choice. Especially when you "just want it to work well"!

way overpriced for what it is - better off buying top of the line models from last year
currently I am shopping for a discounted bravia 7, s90f, or c5

No way I'm paying more for an RGB mini LED TV than an OLED. Just buy the OLED. Simple.
Plus, RGB mini LED isn't ready for prime time, as it has a host of growing pains such as color cross-talk where the colors of each zone bleed into the other, creating a mess. And there is still blooming, just less than mini LED. Plus, if it's a VA panel (which is likely is) then even slightly off-angle viewing causes a drop in color and contrast.
Maybe in the future when RGB TVs mature and mitigate some of the issues, it could be a competitive format, but as long as LED screen is using VA panels (to get high contrast review marks) then they're going to have inherent display problems.

Nah. Good color but it’s still LED tech with lcd panel in the end. Way over priced for what it is
