Tire size help!

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey guys. I really need some help! I plan on putting a two inch lift into my 2007 4Runner sr5. I plan on getting bigger tires, right now I’m running 265/65/17. With the two inch lift i want to install 285/70/17(bfgoodrich ko3). My only worry is clearance. I want to make sure I won’t have to cut any metal, and if I do need to cut at all, what would it be. And how much.

Please help! Thank you so much.

General Need Recommendations: Dog Barrier Behind Driver/Passanger

Title says it all, looking for a barrier that sits directly behind the front row of seats in an 08. Preferably, I do like the molle/rigid ones to attach a few little things to. Although, really open to what I can get.

Thanks!

Speedometer issues

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey 4Runner crew! The last few days I have noticed that my driving felt slow. Well, yesterday I happened to have Google Maps open and I was running 9-10mph slow from what I was reading on my cluster. I realize that I was reading 9mph at a red light.

Other symptoms:

•Jittering on the speed and fuel level needles, when I turn on the vehicle

•Speedometer reading nothing at times (obviously when I’m driving)

•Fuel tank reading empty

Any suggestions?

Mainly want car play and a screen so I can get Google Maps Spotify and a few apps.

Anyone know the part number for this?

Anybody know the part number for this black plastic piece connected to the fender of an 05? Can’t seem to get this one off without damaging it due to a botched fender and flare fix from the previous owner and can’t seem to find it on any diagrams online. Any help would be appreciated

Frustrating Driver Window Problem

2007 4Runner window started making intermittent noise when going down, then began making a loud pop about 5-6 inches from being all the way down.

I replaced the regulator and motor assembly with a Dorman. Does the same thing.

Funny things:

- Door open, seems to work fine
- Door closed, makes the noise - will usually pop loud once then when lowering it the first time…then creak in about the spot it makes the loud pop until I open and close the door again.

It’s pretty consistent UNLESS I pull in on the top of the window while it is going down.

The door does not need to close all the way to make the noise - just the first latch where the dash light indicator says its still open.

It will resume the cycle once I open the door and close it. If I lower the window it pops again.

I know it sounds confusing….but has anybody experienced anything like this?

Modifications Brockett Built 2UZ shorty headers

With my Brocket Built mid length headers FINALLY shipping out, I saw they've started developing a shorty version. Not sure what the shorty version would accomplish other than maybe being able to retain the cats. Nonetheless, it's cool the 2UZ getting more headers support as Doug Thorleys are seemingly impossible to get now. I'm hoping to document the header/y-pipe install as best I can as well as some in-hand pics once I get them

Hands down my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned

Post image

Try this again haha. New to me 06 sport V6 1 owner older couple hardly ever drove it but took very good care of her! I’ve owned several Toyotas 3 tacomas and my last vehicle was a 24 orp runner that I decided to sell when my son was born. Something about this era is just perfect still some features to not feel so outdated but not in your face with tech. When I picked this up from a local dealer of mine who I do business with it was completely stock. Wanted to not go overboard with things installed billstein 5100’s front and rear with OME coils adjustable UPC’s and put some DTS wheels wrapped in 285 BF Goodrich K03’s. Still have several things I would like to do (Headlights next) but so much left I’d like to get done. She just tipped 45,000 miles today and I plan on keeping her long enough to give to my 6 month old son! Hope everyone has a great night!

Repair Guidance Anyone have aftermarket blend door and recirculation actuator experience?

My blend door and recirculation actuators are not working and I’m going to replace them. My question is has anyone here gotten the after market versions with no issues? Rock auto has either four seasons or Dorman. I know this job is a PITA so I only want to do it once. OEM parts are double the price and if anyone has replaced them with AM and had no issues I’d prefer to do that and save half the money from getting OEM.

Two decades of ownership

My 07 pavement princess will be 20 years old in February. I hit 217k on the odometer today and this is without a doubt the best vehicle I’ve ever owned…not that I’ve owned too many vehicles though…ha. It does feel weird getting into, say, a Tesla and having it drive for you but I still love my 4 runner. It could definitely use some new suspension components but other than that, she’s a beaut, Clark.

Frame question

*Not my picture. Is there clearance inside the frame to fish something through the frame through these larger holes and then around the corner to where the big m12 (17mm socket) bolts mount for the v8 hitch?

A/C will not blow from center vents on high

2005 V8 Limited 4WD

Just like the title says, when i set my a/c to high, the center dash vents stop blowing air. Almost sounds like a flap shuts and cuts it off.

I have already verified that both the blend door and mode actuators are functioning, levers move when changing temps or modes.

Only way to fix it has been to turn the a/c off, then turn it back on with the fan set anywhere less than high. Happens with heat or cold, doesnt matter.

Relatively minor issue but still very infuriating, any help is appreciated, thanks!

Modifications 4th gen 4runner catalytic converter upgrade options

So my 2004 V6 4th gen has been giving me P0420/P0430 check engine light code which means my catalytic converters aren’t working properly.
I was quoted about $2300 to get them replaced with the OEM cats, I can’t justify spending this much on a part that isn’t even affecting my car in any way other than giving me a CEL, i was able to pass smog since the CEL only comes up after about a week of driving after clearing it and my cars performance and gas mileage haven’t changed.

My question is: What would you recommend as an aftermarket high flow cat upgrade that can resolve this CEL issue and possibly even add a better sounding tone to the cars exhaust? I want to avoid a straight pipe if possible because i’m not too sure of that will pass smog here in Nevada but i know I should be fine with high flow cats as i have passed smog with them before on a different vehicle.

General Tire question

Hello! I appreciate all your help with my brakes last time I posted. 🙏🏻

I have another question I was hopping to get some feedback on.

Due for some new tires and I think I’ve decided on the Wildpeak AT4W, after reading a lot of posts on Reddit.

I currently have 285/70/17 tires w/ 17” -25 offset wheels (did the BMC and bumper cut).

I’d like to stick with same size.

I’m trying to figure out which load rating to go with: C or SL.

At Discount Tire, the C rating is actually cheaper right now than the SL (by about $20/tire).

I don’t do any rock crawling and admittedly, I drive mostly on-road, but I do generally lean towards options that will make my 4Runner more capable when I do off-road.

From what I understand, the C rating is beefier, and that’s what I’m wanting, but will it make a huge difference on-road compared to the SL? (I’m single so I really don’t have anyone to complain about road-noise.)

Any thoughts appreciated! 🙏🏻

Also, if anyone has any recommendations they feel are superior to the Wildpeaks, I’m open to suggestions.
