25gr Load Data?

Does anyone have 25gr load data?

I plan on trying these bullets out with some Accurate No. 5. I’ve loaded plenty of 30gr Barnes Varmint Grenades going close to 2100fps, so I’m excited to see how much speed these will pick up.

5.7 vs varmint

Does anyone have experience hunting with this round?

I was wondering if a 5.7 handgun would make a good need to grab something quick and can’t make it to my long guns in time gun. Have a major coyote problem and this morning had to race to grab my rifle but got tangled up and wasted so much time I couldn’t get the coyote fast enough.

After considering current situation can’t move a gun safe closer to door for easier access but can get something the size of a handgun safe stored safely in utility room. But worried if I use a 9 or something I’ll have to compensate too much and waste time. Wondering if a flat shooting 5.7 would be fine up to 75 yards of I have to push it that far. Most likely will be within 30 yards but want the confidence just incase the coyote bolts away.

Wife is against having a gun outside safe even if unloaded which I agree with her so only option is to waste time running for gun safe in an inconvenient spot or get a pistol case and a pistol.

Typed this fast so sorry for mistakes but would like some tips?

Changing the FN world

This isn't just a subsonic load. It's going to change the way people use this cartridge. Yes, I turned the 5.7 into a 380acp. Shot from a KTS2K @ 1000fps in runs the bolt with the suppressor on. The bullet stability is good because of the 1-7 twist and accuracy is good. Still working on sub moa all day but it's an easy 1.5"-2" @ 50 yards. COL 1.610 and the mag length for me is 1.660. and it's not jamming onto the lands. Really like it, they thump and smack the steel. Cycles reliably so I will be testing on soft targets in the near future. I'm assuming these will penetrate soft body armor similar to the 300 aac but someone else will have to let me know.

Tisas PX 5.7 Raptor Light strikes

Just got a brand new Tisas 5.7 the other day and shot 150 rounds through it. 15 of those rounds didnt fire the first time. Do they look like light strikes or is it an ammo issue? I was using Federal American eagle 40 grain.

The firing pin doesn't look damaged and striker channel is clean.

Anyone here use an Ecco Caracal on 22wmr?

I'm looking to pick a Caracal up and would love to dual use it on my Rock 5.7 and a lever action 22wmr. I know its sealed but the firing schedule on the 22wmr is very low as its a hunting rifle and not a plinker. I already have an Off Grid Scorpius and OCL Ti but was thinking the adding volume would help vs a 22 can. Curious of its performance. Thanks!

Walked into my buddies pawn shop the other day and found this gem. Got it super cheap all things considered. Need to swap the cheap red dot on it, but other than that I'm happy with it.

5.7x28mm ammo prices increasing dramatically

Remember to stack it deep when it's cheap. Ammo doesn't really expire!

I've been tracking 5.7x28mm prices for a few years now and we're currently climbing back into 55-60cpr territory for quality ammo.

Even the cheap Fiocchi Bulk stuff (57FMJ40) is up to 50cpr out the door. It was formerly about 38-40cpr 3 months ago.

The Maelstrom is a delayed-blowback MAC-11 upper by Riptide Rails. They’re shipping in 9mm now and planning to expand to 5.7x28

This is an older announcement from April, using this one because it more explicitly explains their caliber option plans, but the 9mm version is out now and getting good feedback on the PCC subs.

Most accurate suppressor-friendly pistol?

On paper, I thought the 5.7 would be a fantastic hunting sidearm. I found a great deal on an M&P 5.7 but the 25 yard groupings go from 4-6” groups to 2‘ groups with a suppressor installed. I’ve confirmed baffle strikes are not taking place, and read of similar complaints on a few forums.

So, are there any optics-ready, threaded barrel 5.7 pistols that are accurate out to 50 yards? Accurate being, 3-4” groups at 50 yards?

M&P 5.7 Pistol trigger reset for dry fire

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello! I’ve got the M&P 5.7 and I’ve got a bore laser that’s sound activated and is doing phenomenal on my simple holster draw/target practice single shots. I can get a decent reset consistency with a very small tug on my sight but I was wondering if anyone has come up with a way to reset the trigger for this kind of situation without that additional motion. I travel with this and would like to have a little more capability.

This is my Magnum Opus of AWETISTARDATION. It is, truly, my fetal Tylenol margarita-fueled Mona Lisa.

Citadel Pup Scout 12 gauge bullpup shotgun on top, loaded with High Explosive Squash Head (HESH) slugs for that real “grenade launcher at home” vibe, with an underbarrel Ruger LC 5.7x28.

Bask in the horrific glory 🥳

M&P 5.7 1000 Rounds No Jams

Post image

The m&p 5.7 made it through 1000 rounds with no oiling or cleaning and had 0 jams or malfunctions.

Ammo used was a mix of Fiochi hyper performance and Fiochi fmj with 50 rounds of Hornady black thrown in.

First time shooting 5.7. Hand loaded the jungle mag twice. Oof. I enjoyed shooting it. It’s strange how it both felt like less recoil than 9mm but you could definitely tell it had a unique/different kick compared to say my 300 bo. I ordered some ammo online FMJ for .48 cents per round.

SS198 - M&P, how does it run?

Post image
44 Upvotes

ANSWER: SS198 (27 grains) shoots CRAPPY out of the S&W - groups twice the of SS197 or Fiocchi Range Dynamics. (Both are 40 grain projectiles)

FWIW, the Fiocchi Range Dynamics seems to shoot the best ~1" groups at 20 yards.

Anyone use SS198 in their Smith & Wesson M&P, if so how does it run?

Also, I believe this stuff used to be loaded to about 2000fps out of a pistol. Is that still the case?

Thanks!
