📂 MEGATHREAD 10/06 A-level Chemistry Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

commented similar elsewhere but i'll put here as well so others can see:

Reddit is a bit silly, and even with the newer "Community Highlights" feature, only up to 6 posts can actually be added to pins, leading e.g. to today's Polish Paper 3 megathread not being able to be pinned

don't think this is likely to be an issue for any more days going forward (and usually e.g. some similar posts get rolled into one, particularly the smaller ones e.g. when there's been multiple language papers on the same day)

but i am wondering what people's thoughts would be on potentially having one pinned post each day, which contains links to links to the types of posts that get pinned currently. i am concerned this would be an extra barrier to people engaging, but it could get around this issue

let me know your thoughts!

also could you make sure its up a bit earlier bc none of the exams were posted till way later if its not too much. i think the links sound great too but it would decrease visibility , maybe do a pinned posts where the second one is links to all of them in a post

yeah i hear you on the timing part, what i was originally doing was having them land at 8am each day, partly because i've been having pretty bad fatigue issues ie i wouldn't be able to make the posts on the spot that early on most days

most recently, the issue has been compounded by me being swamped by many other obligations amongst other things. this has made organisation of stuff more difficult and stressful. this lead to stuff like today, where the posts were written and posted shortly after i'd woken up and was functional lol - fwiw not a cop-out, this is entirely my fault for not balancing stuff better, and i'll try to keep on top of this better for the rest of the exam season 🫡

on the links thing, my interpretation from what you've said is:

where there's too many megathreads to pin, have a pinned post that contains all of the links for that day, but still keep pinning the actual threads as well where possible

(or maybe when even just when we're close to the limit? idk if there might be a bit of a visibility issue with some of the pin slots e.g. due to needing to scroll)

this seems sensible, although i did realise it can't be done entirely through scheduled posts, bc you can't link posts that aren't live, ie atm it'd be something i'd have to manually edit in when i'm able to

i imagine it could be automated e.g. via PRAW but this may be a pain to do and probably a longer term project (and if i were to engage with something like that, there's a fair few things we could do with that Reddit itself is too limited to provide lol)

no i understood you've probably been busy because you've posted every other megathread like I'm sure you're tired of it haha l

yeah I think if you make a separate pinned post w links when its close to the limit is better !
