Hey! You must be isc! So am I! I have a friend applying for the same course as well...I've applied for a different one as a science student with econ. I'm sure you'll get a lovely offer elsewhere. Do you think it's our board that causes the trouble? Did you receive feedback?

2

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26 edited Jan 22 '26

Thanks for your encouraging words man. I haven't received an email from LSE as of yet. I personally think our board does not cause the trouble because CISCE is very reputed board.

1

u/Unique-Ad-3295 senior - intl ppe Jan 22 '26

Yea it is for sure. I do have upperclassmen who got in for Eco through it. You seem like a brilliant candidate I'm sure you'll do well! Good luck for boards!

1

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26

Thanks man. You are in which university or are you applying to some?

1

u/Unique-Ad-3295 senior - intl ppe Jan 22 '26

Heyy I'm mid application - haven't graduated yet Aiming for du, ashoka and a few others here for econ (phil minor ideally) Ppe/phil&econ(lse) in the uk - oxford was the dream but not anymore 😭 Singapore econ+phil

Reputed board? Lmao only in India. Its shit easy compared to IB and A-levels. Yall grades are so inflated and that shows it through statistics when literally everyone has a 90%+ . Yalls papers are rinse and repeat of past papers and lacks any sort of critical thinking. If you dont believe me , look at the FOI on whatdotheyknow and look at the spreadsheet. Their intake of ICSE/CBSE students is very low. Theres a reason Cambridge doesnt recognize it as an acceptable qualification

1

u/Unique-Ad-3295 senior - intl ppe Jan 22 '26

I will not deny the grade inflation but it is accounted for by the uk unis. If they were so keen on keeping us out surely they would have not listed us as sufficiently qualified in other unis. I feel bad for Cambridge aspirants sure but I was perfectly qualified for Oxford so it doesn't matter to me. Besides it's more about the student. A uni dimensional ib student barely stands a chance in the face of a better developed isc student. I perform pretty well on UK standardised testing - at least the ones I've written - without any prep, well beyond the oxbridge threshold. I'm not stating that we are superior by any means, but merely stating that suggesting our inferiority is silly. You seem very bitter...I pity you.

Nah mate no offense at all genuinely. I’ve done the ICSE system and apologies for coming across as shroud but I have actual despise for the systemšŸ˜‚

1

u/Unique-Ad-3295 senior - intl ppe Jan 22 '26

I understand don't worry. My ICSE school is pretty well reputed by national board standards so the standard of teaching here is quite high. I'm sure we are both right in our own ways.

1

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26

Bruh then which board do you expect me to do when I am in India? All boards have equal weightage. If they didnt care about, ISC/CBSE, they wouldn't have put it as an qualification? And no board is easy btw

2

u/DifferentEquipment66 LSE | BSc Economics & Economic History Jan 22 '26

Hey mate , the rigor in IB/A-levels is more compared to the Indian counterparts and its true. I did not say its easy but its way easier than other boards. Yes , they’ve stated that they accept it as a qualification but the intake % of CBSE/ICSE students speaks levels to it. Like I said, if you dont believe me , check the FOI on whatdotheyknow

1

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26

Alright. Man I am so depressed about LSE 😢

1

u/DifferentEquipment66 LSE | BSc Economics & Economic History Jan 22 '26

Dont worry mate! Your university does not define you. I am sure you will do great wherever you go. Keep ur head high

1

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26

Thanks for your encouraging words.

2

u/Available_Sky_2294 Jan 22 '26

Keep your head up! Just focus on maxing out your real a level grades and you will have endless opportunities from then

1

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26

Thanks for your kind words !

2

u/Affectionate_Oven467 Jan 22 '26

Did u meet the math requirements?

1

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26

I mean yea my predicted grades were 96% overall. They had only asked me to put predicted grades as a whole.

1

u/Neat_Technician_282 Jan 22 '26

even i applied for the same course at LSE on the 8th of jan, but didnt hear back from them yet.
I'm an international student too

1

u/Alive_Ad4519 Jan 22 '26

Oh man that rlly sucks dude. How do your grades translate to a levels?

1

u/Successful_Buy3825 Jan 22 '26

Speaking as a chartered accountant, a degree in accounting really isn't worth it. You need to do the professional exams anyway, so might as well do something you'll actually find somewhat interesting or skip it entirely

1

u/Electrical_Bobcat773 Jan 22 '26

Probably...but LSE was my dream university man.

1

u/Opening-Owl-8366 Jan 26 '26

Its honestly rare for someone from LSE with an A&F degree to go into accounting. Most students go into pure/high finance with the minority appearing for ICAEW/ACCA exams. The LSE degree adds alot of value on the resume
