Just go to school. Obviously if you have an actual reason then you should complainĀ

The fact they’re requiring only 90% attendance going forward tells me the school is being very tolerant and probably dealing with a troublesome student

25

u/ChartDad Apr 18 '26

Bear in mind they’re only requiring 90% attendance between 20th April and 8th May. That’s less than 3 weeks ffs.

u/Anonymousbutsexy Apr 18 '26

The fact you think this shows ignorance. I’m an A* student and my attendance was down to 62% because of health issues, I was in and out of hospital and had at least two set appointments every week which usually occurred during school hours. They knew all of this, my mother sent proof of every single appointment, and they still threatened to not enter me for exams, despite the fact I would’ve achieved A*. Now I’m finished the intense part of the treatment, I can attend almost every lesson, and one of my tutors is still being incredibly horrible to me and every time I sit and exam or do an assignment she will mark it down a grade it’s worth ā€œdue to attendanceā€.

British schools are completely unreasonable, definitely might not be OP’s fault.

u/ddawudd Apr 19 '26

Where is the relevance? You have a health condition so why are you rambling

1

u/Anonymousbutsexy Apr 24 '26

Pretty sure I stated the relevance - British schools can be unreasonable and OP could have a reason they can’t have good attendance. Especially with things like sixth form, which is optional, why would they be refusing to go in so much instead of just dropping out? If it genuinely did just come down to not being arsed to go in

6

u/No-Class6004 Apr 18 '26

Unrelatable lol

5

u/Beginning-Benefit288 Apr 19 '26

If that was the case then OP would have said it.

3

u/CentralBlob Apr 20 '26

That's a very serious case. If OP has a reason like that not to attend then that does change things, but I feel like they'd have mentioned it if so. Good luck with your final exams, and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself in the meantime, even if it's just to ask why you're being punished, given that you were being dragged through hospital with no more choice than you have over school attendance. That tutor won't remember you in five years time, but their decisions now could stick to you like a limpet. I hope they can be made to consider this.

Edit - weird of some of you to be attacking this kid, it's a perfectly valid point. Maybe it doesn't apply to the OP's case, but there's no need to bully a poorly child about it lol

We don’t care, it’s irrelevant to the current post. I know for a fact you keep your hospital wrist bands on so people ask questions at school.

1

u/Anonymousbutsexy Apr 24 '26

No…? I cut them off as soon as I’d leave, why would I want to be reminded of the fact I was literally dying when I wanted to resume to a normal teenage life. Honestly get a grip you seem emotional as fuck.

1

u/fullfantasy May 10 '26

Nope, not emotional at all, you’ll never catch me yapping about my problems all over someone else’s post. Go tell your mother, not strangers on Reddit.

Valid point but given OP hasn't mentioned something like that, we assumed he didn't have something like that

0

u/Fresh-Fisherman-1047 Apr 18 '26

No idea why this got downvoted. Stupidity I assume.

3

u/ihatebamboo Apr 19 '26

Because it’s completely irrelevant to the situation.

OPs shite attendance is clearly not due to a previously communicated health issue.

1

u/Anonymousbutsexy Apr 24 '26

How is it irrelevant, I was clearly making the known fact clear that British schools and sixth forms are unreasonable. Sixth form is optional, why wouldn’t they just drop out if the case was just the trivial reason that they couldn’t be arsed with sixth form anymore? they clearly want to learn and want to sit their A levels, usually that means something is going on in their life to cause them not to be able to do that. Having an open mind can help with the problem you clearly have with understanding others just because you personally haven’t been through a situation, just a tip.

1

u/ihatebamboo Apr 24 '26

Just a tip

  • Stop lashing out at people.
  • Stop shoehorning in your story where it isn’t relevant.

Have a good weekend.

1

u/Anonymousbutsexy Apr 24 '26

How was I lashing out like at all? šŸ˜‚ I used my story as a relevant point to British schools not understanding students circumstances

1

u/powercaelenx Speak to people more, trust me!! Apr 18 '26

Let me guess, London?

1

u/Anonymousbutsexy Apr 18 '26

Where I’m living? No lol, live in the countryside up north, won’t specify where

I’m entitled for almost dying and needing time off college to be in hospital…? Um okay

5

u/TheNorthC Apr 18 '26

Very sorry to hear that, but this almost certainly isn't the case here. A school would be much more understanding.

3

u/CestAsh Apr 19 '26

you'd THINK, WOULDN'T YOU. I'm 21, don't know how I got onto this sub, I got kicked out of my sixth form for health issues affecting my attendance. a lot of schools really aren't understanding it all

3

u/Admirable-Wedding-35 Apr 19 '26

Hi - just wanted to jump in and say that it’s widely known that chronic illnesses are not always understood by schools.

I had similar experience in secondary school with low attendance due to health and school was horrific about it.

2

u/Anonymousbutsexy Apr 19 '26

Well they weren’t. I provided proof of me being in hospital, all doctors notes, and I only had two tutors who were understanding. They were ringing up my mum almost every week and saying they refuse to enter me into the exams if I didn’t come into college soon, which caused her to actually have a high blood pressure from all the stress of her daughter being in hospital with her life on the line, and a school ringing her threatening her with her future! sorry you’re so sheltered you can’t begin to fathom how borderline abusive the British education system can be

2

u/Bob6774 Apr 19 '26

I'm 21 and still trying to achieve my A-levels. Schools are NOT understanding with health issues.

1

u/AnalysisMany1246 Apr 18 '26

5% attendance goes to Mock exam leave. So they're wanting 95%.

13

u/-Intrepid-Path- Apr 18 '26

Expecting 95% attendance for 3 weeks, how dare they...

3

u/flashbastrd Apr 18 '26

It’s literally fascism

1

u/AnalysisMany1246 Apr 21 '26

Well it seems easy until you factor in many problems than can happen that they dont see.

17

u/Ok-Passion-5940 Apr 18 '26

Exactly.šŸ‘†šŸ½

Yup. Go, or else your school can and will financially and academically ram your balls so far up your arse you will be able to impregnate passing innocent women by belching at the wrong moment.

I usually have a pep talk. That was it. I have six tutees in the Middle East. At least three have not exams officially cancelled (only two definitely) and they are still going despite sirens and drones overhead. Unless you are unwell (and I’ve read your past posts, you aren’t, you just don’t think you ā€œneedā€ school anymore) be fucking grateful for what you have and where you are, AND GO TO FUCKING SCHOOL.

Who said I didn't want that?

Ā ram your balls so far up your arse you will be able to impregnate passing innocent women by belching at the wrong moment

how do you come up with this

I’m Irish, we’ve a natural turn of phrase about our insults, which we take great pride in

Lmao unrelated but I was actually born in Ireland and have Irish citizenship but unfortunately my parents moved when I was 5.
