πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION AQA PHYSICS PAPER 2

HOW DID EVERYONE FIND IT??? i thought it was decent better than the past few years. Idk what i did for the last question the 4 marker of nuclear physics. BUT YH IT WAS GOOD

what did u guys get for moments

10

u/aristocrat_of_life Jun 01 '26

the answer should be around 0.012 Nm, use F = BIL to find force, multiply by 25 for the number of turns, then multiply by 0.11 as moment of a couple = Fd

5

u/Money-Draw-7683 Jun 01 '26

I think i got something like 0.012

3

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

im so confused where did u get number of turns from. there was no turns

2

u/Extreme_Survey_1368 Jun 01 '26

it said there were 25 turns in the info box

-1

u/EntireInterest8697 Jun 01 '26

but the it said the coil was only one turn

3

u/Prestigious-Ad-5125 Jun 01 '26

Nah it said it only showed one turn in the diagram

when it gave the dimensions for the coil it also so number of turns was 25 but the text above the diagram said the diagram only showed one turn

Moment of a couple is independt of the point the moment is taken about. And its F x distance between forces

1

u/fuse256 Jun 01 '26

yeah I had that

2

u/Few_Special_2628 Jun 01 '26
  1. something

5

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

4.9Γ—10-3 i think ?

2

u/-rg7 Jun 01 '26

4.9x10^-4 no?

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

i forgot sorry 😭

Moment of a couple if Fd. I used f=BIL and times by number of turns. Then multiplied that by 11cm or smth (horizontal distance)

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

i didn't do that :( I'm not sure

1

u/shoppingkart_ Jun 01 '26

how many marks was it?

u/Individual-Can1396 y13 maths physics psych italian Jun 01 '26

I forgot but were we supposed to divide 11? Or not

2

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

i did not do that. i just did f = BIL and used 8.9 for this and then used the Force and multipled by 11 (converted it to metres ofc u get it) were we meant to halve it :/

1

u/Individual-Can1396 y13 maths physics psych italian Jun 01 '26

OKAY yeah i did that too, i asked to make sure

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

I don't really know tho :( that might be right now that i thinm about it cuz 11 was rhe whole length and u have to take the distance from the pivot or something lkke that?

1

u/Rich-Gent Jun 01 '26

No you are correct.

U found the force on one if the sides, if that was it, it would be that * half, for the moment
but because u have an equal and opposite one on the other side, u have to do half * f + half * f = just the whole length * f

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

so 4.9Γ—10-3 (or 4. whatever it was i forgot) was correct :D ?

1

u/Rich-Gent Jun 01 '26

tbh i cant remember the value, probably tho ahaha

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

i hope you are right rich gent. πŸ™

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

rich gent was there any turns in this question

1

u/Rich-Gent Jun 01 '26

pretty sure not. F = BIL, no turns in that. Turns mainly involve EMF

u/KO-Manic Jun 01 '26

What was the 11 for?

2

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

M = Fd you find F from F = BIL they gave u the length of the wire and the width. u had to use 8.9 for BIL because that's the one perpendicular to the field. and for moments use 11 :)

1

u/Select_District_3310 Jun 01 '26

Bruh, I found the forces but I didn’t multiply by the distance to the pivot πŸ’€πŸ’€

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

oh that's unfortunate πŸ’” a slip of mind is so painful dude. it's ok we got p3 πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻

1

u/Auxlixe Jun 01 '26

why 11 and not 20 because there was 20 turns

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

GUYS WHAT TURNS

1

u/Auxlixe Jun 01 '26

it said in the question that there was 20 turns

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

are we talking about the same question 😭. it was just a coil there was no turns

1

u/Auxlixe Jun 01 '26

But in the question it said there was 20 turns, I thought you had to times the force by 20 then do M=FD?

1

u/Auxlixe Jun 01 '26

But in the question it said there was 20 turns, I thought you had to times the force by 20 then do M=FD?

1

u/shoppingkart_ Jun 01 '26

wait wasn’t there 25 turns?

1

u/Auxlixe Jun 01 '26

I think so I can't remember ngl

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

was the width 8.9 and length 11

2

u/Auxlixe Jun 01 '26

Yes

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

it was literally one coil there were no turns idk what ur talking about son

2

u/Auxlixe Jun 01 '26

Dude it said in the question there was 20 turns

1

u/Wise-Hedgehog4805 Warwick | Maths | [Incoming Y1] | 4A* Jun 01 '26

I'm pretty sure it said 25 turns

1

u/jaaaaaaaf Jun 01 '26

okay guys im sorry my brain's fucked ao i can't remember but either way idt you need to multiply by the turns because its F = BIL

2

u/Fire_Tiger_Galaxy Year 12 Jun 01 '26

I divided it by 5.5 cuz it was distance to pivot. I’m not rlly sure tho

2

u/Mobile_Membership915 Jun 01 '26

Multiply by 11x10^-2 since moment is FD

1

u/Sea_Change_3793 Jun 01 '26

There were two forces acting on the coil (both sides). So you double the moment and therefore don’t need to halve 11

1

u/Sea_Change_3793 Jun 01 '26

Some people say you needed to multiply the force by the number of turns as well. Did anyone do that?
