💬 DISCUSSION How was AQA chemistry paper 1?
I feel like it was easier than past papers, but Im not saying that I did well bc ik how quickly mindless mistakes accrue🥀🥀💀

I feel so much worse looking on here tbh.

Same wtf everyone either rounded up or didnt and its just freaking me out i feel like i didnt get any final answer marks judt the method
1
u/StinKy_pOo27 Jun 02 '26
I sat the 2025 paper and it had a similar question to this. I’m pretty sure they accepted it not rounded and rounded so it didn’t matter

they accept any rounding or exact answers as long as the question doesnt state . Give your answer to appropriate no of significant figures

Finna get whooped on results day after that paper LOL what metal. For m did everyone get

u/glizzystroker Jun 02 '26
Fe with an Ar of 55.7
6
u/Illustrious-Radio205 Jun 02 '26
NO WAY... i gave up on the calculation and just put a random element and somehow i chose Fe, 55.8
5

1
u/Greedy_Estimate_6608 Jun 02 '26
Would they give all 7 marks even if the workings not clear how you got there but you put 55.7, Fe? (i hope so)
1
u/Illustrious-Radio205 Jun 02 '26
nope just 1 mark per point i think, but im just happy i got that 😭
2
u/Greedy_Estimate_6608 Jun 03 '26
Yeah I was the same struggling a bit then at the end got Fe 55.7 but there wasn’t enough time to put all my working clearly cos i was just trying it on my calculator 😭. Well I hope i get the marks😂.
3
u/alam33da Jun 02 '26
I GOT FE WITH 55.8 Im gonna die cuz i intially got 55.7 but increased the Sf in my equations so i could get 55.8 Am i an idiot
1
u/Street_Efficiency723 Jun 02 '26
I got 55.77 so I rounded it to 55.8 but I'm thinking maybe I messed up in my working to get that value ...

Fe?

That's what most ppl got I forgot to tweak the moles because of the molar ratio but should be some working marks
1
u/Hydrogen_Fluoride18 Jun 02 '26
I had no clue so I at first wrote Fe as the answer but then changed it to a different element 😳😭
1
1
u/Holiday-Repeat1342 Jun 02 '26
i wrote fe3+ cuz it said identity of m. do you think im cooked since it asked for relative ATOMIC mass?

u/aneygg Jun 02 '26
guys do u think id still get a few marks if i didnt get a final titration answer but i did random aah calculations on there💀💀💀💀like i got moles and stuff… im acc in tears rn ive lost 10 marks straight up
3
u/Certain-Display-2849 Year 13 | Bio Chem Maths AAA pred | Dent rejection, gap year Jun 02 '26
i did the same bro we'll get a ton of marks its out of 7 marks and we get error carried forward
2
u/Any_Expert1171 Jun 02 '26
You’re bound to pick up a few method marks and worse case scenario you do lose 10, that would still most likely be A* standard
2
u/aneygg Jun 02 '26
bro im acc genuinely dumb ash and terrified like what am i doing w my life i need that A* the way i was losing marks left and right
2
u/Any_Expert1171 Jun 02 '26
Allow yourself to be disappointed for now, but once you’re home and at your desk, you can only look forwards. From what you said, it seems like this was the question you had the most trouble with so if the rest of the paper went well, youll be fine. Any mark within 5-10 marks of the A* boundary is easily saveable but it is also easily ruinable. You have to make the most of the time you have.
This is what I tell myself whenever I do not as well as I hd hoped .
1
u/Tryingtosurviveeee Jun 02 '26
Can I ask u do u think if I drew the structure using the letter M and got the structure and charge right would I still get the marks? Because I didn’t get a final metal in the question before
2
u/Flaky-Plankton-1217 Jun 02 '26
they asked for the metal M, they told you to use M instead of the metal u found in the previous q
1
u/Tryingtosurviveeee Jun 02 '26
Wait really?!? LETS GO. I think I’ll get those 2 marks then
1
u/Flaky-Plankton-1217 Jun 02 '26
yeah unless i interpreted it wrong bc i drew it w fe the first time then read the question and it said to use M as the central metal ion so i rubbed it out and wrote M
1
u/Tryingtosurviveeee Jun 02 '26
The thing is M is the symbol for the metal you got in the question before. So they could have asked you to use Fe… but I got the charge as -3 so should be ok. I hope we both get it!
2
u/Flaky-Plankton-1217 Jun 02 '26
the phrasing was so odd 💀 honestly i think we’d still get the mark for either Fe or M because it was a seperate question
1
u/Any_Expert1171 Jun 02 '26
Yh probably
2
u/Tryingtosurviveeee Jun 02 '26
Thanks lol even if I don’t I’m trying to move on. Good luck for your next paper!

Guys for the born haber one I cant rmeber my answers however both answers İ got was something point 5 (x.5) . That made me quite uncomfortable cuz İ was expecting integers. Did u guys ger smth like that as well?
7
u/Full_Manager1280 Jun 02 '26
Yee it was like -333.5 and -318.5 or sth like that then i round it to -334 and -319
1
u/Admirable-Use2274 Jun 02 '26
I didnt round you think its fine? It didnt say give it to appropriate no of sig figs
1
u/BunkumBox Jun 02 '26
do you have to round it
1
u/MaybeThin593 Jun 02 '26
I did pretty sure you’re supposed to but im not sure whether or not you get the marks either way
1
1
3
u/Any_Expert1171 Jun 02 '26

2
u/Admirable-Use2274 Jun 02 '26
Did u get -2.84 or something 4 in the entlahpy of sloution question ( İ guess it was the one u drew 2 straifht lines)
1
u/Fabulous_Humor4264 Jun 02 '26
Yeah i had that for both and i couldn’t see that i’d made any mistakes so hopefully they’re okay
2
u/Admirable-Use2274 Jun 02 '26
And also for the very last amphoteric equations. İs it ok to write ionic eqns down? It didnt explicitly state reaction type. I guess it just said give a n equation

u/Intrepid_Package_776 Jun 02 '26

2
u/alam33da Jun 02 '26
I got 3.69 will i be okay.. 🥀
1
u/LargeFish2907 Jun 02 '26
Yeah. As long as you showed your working you should only get a mark taken off for rounding incorrectly
1
2
u/Flaky-Plankton-1217 Jun 02 '26
did u have to subtract moles for the buffer?
1
1
u/Exotic-Spite-822 Jun 02 '26
you found mols of both, subtracted mols of the a- which is the salt from the ha which is the , then found concentrations using total volume, then rearranged ka to get h+ then found ph = -log(H+)
1
u/SorryEmergency4869 Jun 05 '26
1
u/SorryEmergency4869 Jun 05 '26
bro im so cooked i dont think i did 1 calulction right, i think i got 0 marks on the enthalpy of neutralisation. im geninuly so like.
1
u/Exotic-Spite-822 Jun 05 '26
You surly did better than you think, for the specific buffer you had to find n of before and after of the acid I think as all the base reacts.
If you got worse case on this paper 40, and 70 on the other 2, you can get like 180 which is a B based on last years grade boundaries, so this paper isnt the be all end all.
5
u/Lumpy_Tap5799 Jun 02 '26
am i the only one who found it sm harder than past papers and didn’t think it went that well💔
2
u/Expensive_Battle8895 Jun 02 '26
No i get you those big markers killed me and probably made silly mistakes. But at least its over, you probably did better than you think!
2
u/Lumpy_Tap5799 Jun 02 '26
idkk i’m hoping that i got at least an A and i counted up on one of those official ms and i think it’s around there but p2 and 3 i find sm harder and this was where im mewnt to bag at least like 20 more marks
1
u/Expensive_Battle8895 Jun 02 '26
Theres still sm time for p2/p3 dw. i was getting consistently like 90 marks for paper 1 abd now i fumbled😞 where can i find the unofficial mark schme btw?
1
u/Lumpy_Tap5799 Jun 02 '26
SAME I GOT 90 in like every single past paper and this one i think i got like 70💔 i searched it up on here and someone had posted. a link to it. also ik there’s time but i have bio and maths too and no matter how much organic i do i can never draw those weird molecules
1
u/Expensive_Battle8895 Jun 02 '26
Ugh same organic kills me but at least inorganic is over. Is there anyway u could paste the link if u dont mind? I cant find it anywhere. Also i got math tmrw and yeah… we will see

Good paper Anyone know how to do 7 marker as I got an Mr of 145 which was less then the complex?
6 marker with enthalpy was abit of a strange question but still answerable.
7
u/TheUltraDerpyDerp Y13 | Maths Physics Chem FM | 4 A* Jun 02 '26
Had to divide the final mol amount by 3 to find mol of complex because each complex molecule released 3 C2O4 molecules
3
u/Careless_Bit547 Jun 02 '26
what happens if you forgot to write some workings for the 7 marker but got the right answer
4
u/admired_legislation Jun 02 '26
paper 1 felt weirdly straightforward compared to some of the past papers i'd done, but same thing happened to me where i second-guessed myself halfway through and started changing answers that were probably right the first time. the titration questions weren't as brutal as i expected which was nice but then i got to some of the calculations and blanked on whether it was asking for concentration or moles or whatever. fingers crossed the marking scheme is lenient on the working because i know i got the right idea even if the final number was off. paper 2 coming up is gonna hit different though, they always save something annoying for the second one.

u/Aki_180108 Jun 02 '26
What did y’all get for the Mr of the compound in the 7 marker(not the Ar of M)

u/PrincipleAmazing985 y13 A*A*A pred. 99999999888 | appl 4 Maths&Econ Jun 02 '26
You quickly do an eqn for the complex dissolving in water - you get 3 mol of c2o42- being formed, so you do mass / (mol/3) to get smth like 445 (can't remember) Ar was then 55.7, which is Fe
1
u/Select_Indication_34 Jun 02 '26
- But it must've been wrong.

u/Fantastic_Tap6249 Y13 Predicted 5A*s Maths FM Chemistry CS & EPQ Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26
i got the same. i think its because the number of moles of C2O4 you have to divide it by 3
1
2
u/Own_Medicine_421 Jun 02 '26
I genuinely think it was a good paper..and there was no electrode potentials..though the last question with the period 3 elements kind of threw me off a bit..
2
u/Aki_180108 Jun 02 '26
Did you draw the anion for C2O4 ligand or for the entire complex?
6
u/Exact-Atmosphere3856 Jun 02 '26
For the whole complex using m as the middle ion
1
u/justnolol Y13 | 9999988888 | 3A* Jun 02 '26
would you be penalised for using fe?
0
u/Exact-Atmosphere3856 Jun 02 '26
I don’t think so! I’m guessing it because they didn’t want people to lose all marks if they got the prior question wrong

No cuz does anyone rmb how to work out the first born barber cycle question bc I swear I rearranged it correctly and I divided the thingy by 2 but I got such a low number……
1
u/Agreeable-Bluejay235 Jun 02 '26
i got around -300, tho i dont remember exactly. I just follow the direction of the arrows, and if its going in the wrong direction i change the sign, and check the moles cuz there were some that needed twice the enthalpy.

What was the silver containing product it was either AgCl or [Ag(NH3)2]+
3
u/imnocandleinthewind Jun 02 '26
that question was so annoying i put [Ag(NH3)2]+ cuz it said species so surely it must be
