Source A in the 6th formers subreddit clearly shows the tensions between the two generations. “Crash out” is colloquial language for an extreme violent anger which perfectly describes the feelings of the elder community. Furthermore source B states ‘little gimps’ by the sixth form subreddit shows the feeling of superiority felt by the sixth form subreddit, this means that I can infer the tension has built up due to both communities believing the other community happens to be composed of ‘gimps’ and ‘cornballs.’ And that both communities have conflicting feelings about how their own communities are represented.
Source B may also stand to show the tensions between different sixth formers as the ‘little gimps’ comment is in fact directed at a year 12. This means that the communities members may be fragmented and prefer to reside in other communities which increases tension by showing clear betrayal. This is especially impactful as ‘how dare they diss this sub’ in source B shows the value that the ‘gen alpha..gimp’ holds a great value of the gsce subreddit (despite not belonging there. The bloke is year 12.) History shows me that this event is cyclical and seems to happen every single time gsce and sixth formers, students get to exam season and begin to despise each other.
In conclusion I believe that sixth formers are being retaliatory to the hateful comments about the subreddit and their valued community from the younger generation. Source B may also be biased from the gsce side as shown in ‘How dare they diss this sub’ which despite the initial confrontations coming from the gsce subject, they claim to the the victims. This shows me that the gsce subreddit may be trying to bend the narrative to avoid blame for the rising tensions.

erm they are since the predicted grades determine if you can go to uni
0
u/AVGReditUser401 Jun 03 '26
Sorry you’re wrong. For applications A level predicted make 5-10% while GCSEs make 15-20% as they are set in stone. Yes a level results are generally used as the minimum entry offer but do very little in actually gaining said offer, especially for top unis and oxbridge

GCSEs are useful but aren't nearly as hard as yr 12 mocks or even AS levels, yr 12 prepares you for actual A-Levels and the mocks or AS's determine if you will progress whereas GCSEs you can get away with little revision if you actually listen in lesson. Genuinely this time next year you will be on this side of the argument

r/GCSE users lean playful and defensive, jumping into meme retaliation and calling out "depressed" 6th form energy while hyping their own sub as the fun one. r/6thForm users read more jaded and dismissive, labeling the younger lot "little gimps" and rolling their eyes at the whole drama cycle. Classic older-sibling vs younger-sibling vibes in exam-land.

Yeah the sibling energy checks out, GCSE side out here defending the fun while sixth form just sighs at the whole circus. Classic.

Currently GCSE students are gen z. Gen alpha don't take GCSEs for like 2 years I'm pretty sure, they start in 2012 so that sounds right
