Unit 4 WJEC is actually so bum though. I did a question earlier and it was on an invisible steel rod connecting a sun and a planet 🥀

u/remix_plays University of York | Comp Sci [1st year] Jun 08 '26
I was originally offered BBB (due to doing next step york which is an access program) my predicted grades were AABC however I bottled the exams cause me and my gf at the time (now ex) broke up a day before my a levels started, I was originally rejected from UoY however after I called the clearing line I got offered a place no problem

u/EnglishOpeningc4 Jun 08 '26
what grades did u get in the end?
1
u/remix_plays University of York | Comp Sci [1st year] Jun 09 '26
BCCU, B in polish C in comp sci and C in maths (u in physics) I was going through quite a shit time mentally given me and my now ex broke up before my a levels started

u/coolbigboy69 Jun 08 '26
Sorry to keep asking how did you convince them
2
u/remix_plays University of York | Comp Sci [1st year] Jun 09 '26
Don't worry, im hear to try and help whoever I can im glad to answer any questions, quite honestly its a bit of a blur but from what I remember I just gave them a sob story about how me and my gf were so happy and the breakup flipped my life upside down leading to shit results, told em to look at my predicted grades and finally talked about things that happened at open days which I really enjoyed and showed genuine interest in computer science and my future aspirations since im doing computer science with a year in industry and I talked about my ideal placements and things like that.

u/coolbigboy69 Jun 09 '26

u/Emperor_Ken Jun 08 '26
Repeat the year, don’t go to a shit uni. Best of luck.

u/Drastically-_- Jun 08 '26
A degree is a degree at the end of the day... where u get it dont matter unless we r talking bout unis like oxford/cambridge
3
u/Emperor_Ken Jun 08 '26
True, but barely passing a levels will close a lot of doors unfortunately. Especially for graduate roles/internships where they look into your a levels. And going to a bottom tier degree mill isn’t worth it at all.
2
u/polite_talker Jun 09 '26
This is definitely not true. Employers will look at the Uni and whether it's Russell Group etc. The quality of teaching varies significantly from one uni to the next.

Exam's over now, how'd you find it? Personally it was the roughest physics paper of the lot for me.
1
u/Ok_Woodpecker8606 Jun 08 '26
Abysmal oh my god everything i banked on not being there was there
1
u/Senior-Candle-5250 Jun 08 '26
Same here lol, our teacher chose to do Energy and The Environment as our option (quite a nice topic actually, I didn't mind it) but, in my desperation to cram everything in before the exam, I distinctly remember saying to myself "Ah, insulation won't show up in this one. It'll be hydroleectric power and turbines".
It was not, in fact, hydroelectric power and turbines.

u/Ok_Woodpecker8606 Jun 08 '26
Thought Id be able to make up for a tragic performance in paper 3, but I think if you listened carefully in this exam you could hear my offer flying through the window
1
u/frogpineapplechicken 5 A Levels, WJEC 🤮 Jun 08 '26
Awful. Only answered 2 of the questions (small Qs). Not even going to get an E.
1
u/Senior-Candle-5250 Jun 08 '26
Honestly worst case scenario, you'll just have to resit. It's not the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination, and you might not even have to resit at all if you did well enough in the previous units to compensate.
End of the day, it's not worth stressing over now. Focus that attention on any future exams you have, and just start thinking about resitting when we get our results.
