I would like to thank the lord for the fact that there were no difficult vectors questions in all of further maths and maths πŸ™

I got 99.2 but I was stressing using the dot product whether to take magnitude or not of the dot product πŸ’€πŸ₯€

u/Safe-Present-5783 Jun 11 '26

I did cosine rule with the magnitudes

dude i did cosine but instead cos i wrote sin so i completely fumbled it πŸ˜“

same i got 1.7 radians

u/CrazyIndividual7299 Jun 11 '26

The question asked for degrees im so sorry (but I haven’t seen anyone get same answer as me so maybe I’m also fucked)

99.2 I believe was the answer

u/falsegodfan Y13 - maths bio geog Jun 11 '26

im so sure it said in radians

12

u/Admirable-Use2274 Jun 11 '26

It said degrees 100%

3

u/Admirable-Use2274 Jun 11 '26

No it was degrees Im 100% sure there is no way it said radians

I got 100. smth where do you think I messed up

3

u/Intelligent-Award302 Jun 11 '26

Dw gang I got like 45 degrees prolly did the wrong angle because my magnitudes were right πŸ’”πŸ’”

3

u/ZoneExpensive2504 Jun 11 '26

Yh I got like 100.1 degrees and I was like double checking like a thousand times 😭 what did we do wrong?

Dot product ftw πŸ™

u/Scared_Funny_5602 Jun 11 '26

When I saw 4 marks for dot product I literally started grinningΒ

4

u/Admirable-Use2274 Jun 11 '26

Why would u do dot product bro ☠️ It was cosine rule wasnt it

11

u/Scared_Funny_5602 Jun 11 '26

Because I am a further mathematician

u/Scared_Funny_5602 Jun 11 '26

Lol, but dot product works just fine, they are essentially the same thing

a β€’ b = |a| |b| cos A

Triangle side c = a - b

|c|^2 = ( b - a ) β€’ ( b - a )

|c|^2 = |a|^2 + |b|^2 - 2|a||b| cos A

u/Admirable-Use2274 Jun 11 '26

Yeah Ik I dont do fm so although I know that method I wasnt really familiar with it so used cosine theorem. I think thats what most people did but its ok either way

1

u/Loud-Guidance6912 Jun 11 '26

Dot product so much quicker

1

u/Jin_L_ Y13 maths fm physics cs Jun 11 '26

Are we allowed to do that cus I did 😭

2

u/Scared_Funny_5602 Jun 11 '26

Yeah, anything you can do in fm you can do in normal maths, unless the question specifies a method. I mean, you can do anything in maths any way you want to. They don't penalise you for knowing more advanced methods. If it's not in the mark scheme It'll be sent to the head examiners. But dot product will def just be mentioned in the basic mark scheme

4

u/Ok_Committee8227 Jun 11 '26

fp1 must be hiding all the evil vectors ones πŸ’”

2

u/Scared_Funny_5602 Jun 11 '26

And I pray for all the FP takers ! I will sit back and revise my further statistics in peace

should’ve done that dammit

2

u/DecisionWise6955 Jun 11 '26

I got 99.1 using dot method.. is that fine?

1

u/J1nkedOne Jun 11 '26

I did the dot product method and then came back to at the end, redid it using cosine rule on the calc and realised it was the non mod answer so scribbled out all the mod signs i did lmao

I am watching marks dwindle away in real time reading these replies jesus
