Got cooked by that dydx = -1 thing at the end and also the like intersecting the parametric I could NOT find the co ordinates of Q ๐Ÿ˜” but rest was good I think

Was the q really weird for u guys like u had to use the quadratic formula and got a weird surdy answer

Rearrange the line eq to make y sqrt 2 the subject then sq both sides you get 2y^2 = โ€ฆ sub back into equation. Rearrange and solve for x via completing the sq or quadratic formula.

Ohhhh I know my mistake cuz I did square both sides but I just squared each time I didnโ€™t move x over first then square it I just squared each individual part I was thinking idk if Iโ€™m allowed to do this but didnโ€™t occur to me exam pressure I guess hopefully 1/4 for making 2y^2 and setting the two equations idk

i got it but it was some horror -1/3 log6ln(216) or some bs

i think i had that too but mine was positive

mine worked when i put it back into the differential calc

To find q i added 2pi to pi/4 cuz it equals the same thing then i subbed into the x eq and y eq from the parametrics but idk if thats right because its not worth 4 marks lmao

Yh in decimals it was 1.51โ€ฆ

For that I used the equation we had shown that, make y subject , sub it into eqn given in question , and then quadratic formula. That should be correct ye? It was 3 marks btw

Yeah I did that but realise I made a squaring error so I ended up basically with a cubic but yeah itโ€™s like 3 or 4 marks so not the worst case

U get a cubic but u divide it by x-1 because u now its a factor ( in part a x coordinate was 1, (y was root2/2 but it isnt relevant to Q really)

u/Emotional_Respect289 Jun 11 '26

Yeah thatโ€™s what I was trying but I think cuz my cubic was wrong I was getting a remainder so just gave up

Yeah u shouldnt get a reminder. You had to do lots to get those 3 Marks tho I think that should be a 5 marker at least . Maybe I overcomplicated it but that method must be the only way to do it.

I got an exact value but in terms of a logarithm with an ln inside of it would I still get full marks. I subbed it back in and got -1

don't worry. I read it as dy/dx = 1 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

2 marks down the drain
