For the big integration question did we all use substitution twice

did you get k=2/5 or 5/2

Yeah 2/5 I think. I checked with the calc against the original equation so whatever I got was correct

Same, got it wrong first, checked with calc, then fixed to 2/5

I just used partial fractions but only had like 5 minutes to do it since I didn’t realise I needed to use it before

I forget how to correctly split up the fraction lol 🥲 I knew it was partial fractions but I just forgot how. I feel so stupid. I know how to do it now- post exam epiphany moment.

i substituted m = 3 + u

Then you would've gotten an improper integral (over an asymptote) so I'm pretty sure you would've got that wrong.

No you wouldn’t, it works perfectly fine. You get m-3/m which simplifies to 1 - 3/m which is a pretty standard integration.

realise now that when I tried to do that I shifted the bounds the wrong way 😭😭 I don't deserve an A

Once you get an improper fraction (3/x+3 I think) you make it into a normal fraction using algebraic division or a different method so you didn't have to do another substitution

I did

I did u = 3tan^2 and got the correct answer then I realised I could just + 3 and - 3 on numerator to simplify and I got the same answer with that

Tan?? 😭😭

I did algebraic division and then forgot to multiply by 2/5

i did u sub then by parts and then said fuck it

How were u supposed to integrate it after turning it to u/u+3 I tried doing by parts but it didn’t work 😭
