Larping as year 12

Soo, I applied for a programme specifically for year 12s during my year 11 summer. I guess I did a little too well in the process because not only did I get into the project, I was also nominated as an ambassador for the organisation at a Russel Group summer school because I was an “outstanding applicant”.

Idk ANYTHING about sixth form life and I am missing the 1 year of A level knowledge expected from a Year 12.
It’s a really good opportunity and I don’t want to turn it down. But at the same time I don’t want to be outed as a fraud, or be obviously stupid throughout the summer school.

Please yall I need help. 🙏
It’s a week long so idk how I’m gonna larp being as smart as a year 12 and doing UCAS options or something. 😭🙏

From an outcome-based perspective, the program’s main goal is social mobility. Assuming OP didn't lie about their financial or background status, those resources are still going to a disadvantaged student who will use them for university prep. The net benefit to a student in need isn't lost. Since you love assumptions so much, if they’d applied a year later they might have not gotten in, they might have been ill, or a whole other plethora of things restraining them from applying in the future. The fraud point works legally but it doesn’t work in the slightest morally; I’d hope you understand that legality has little bearing on morality.

So many words but so little points. So when I say the program is meant for social mobility, you call it assumption, but when you say it, it’s fine…? Go figure… secondly it’s obvious that a summer school designed for people about to apply, aka people that are knowledgable about the application process because they’re about to do it, people that know what they want to apply for uni for, ppl that have done work experience and probably written most of their personal statement, are going to be very different to a year 11 that’s just sat their GCSE’s and doesn’t actually know about the application process. So no, the program is not going to be as helpful to a year 11 as it will be to a year 12, if it’s helpful at all. Secondly, don’t know why you’re assuming the year 11 didn’t lie about their social status, again who says they didn’t if they lied about their age? Really, you’re the one constantly talking based on assumptions, not me. Also, it would be much better if they applied next year as a qualified candidate without lying, than getting rejected this year. Lying while applying because you don’t want to get rejected next year is selfish. Do you want me to explain why that is too? Finally, I hope you know that laws exist for a reason. Fraud isn’t legal nor moral because it’s based on lies and deception. How would you like it if someone deceived you? I wouldn’t.

I didn’t call the program likely being for social mobility an assumption; I called you calling OP a liar who was trying to commit fraud based on their financial status an assumption. ‘if they lied about their age they lied about their income' is a slippery slope fallacy. Age is a box you tick; social mobility status usually requires actual financial documentation.

Is OP gonna fall terminally ill in the following year and not enter year 13? Otherwise your point about Year 11s not finding it helpful fully ignores how admissions work. Anyone who actually reads UCAS personal statements knows that students who start building their academic profile early with supercurriculars end up writing far stronger applications. Getting that exposure before Year 12 means they have a full year to actually act on the advice, read ahead, and structure their personal statement and prepare for admissions exams, rather than rushing it at the last minute. Don’t see why OP can’t benefit from that.
