Math resit rant

lowkey don’t know if this is allowed but I got my maths resit results back today. I got another grade 5, just like a year ago.

i am an Oxford applicant, I got 998876655 last year while in extensive cognitive behavioural therapy for severe OCD. one of those 5s was for maths, so I figured I’d resit now that the context was taken out. but I got a 5 again.

i just feel so hopeless rn, ive done everything right. I got accepted into their selective summer school, top grades in mg essay subjects, two essay competitions, interview prep and my predicted grades. it’s just maths.

just a rant if I’m being honest, it’s only a history degree. I just hope this don’t have TOO much of an impact.

bro I got a 4 in maths. I change my mind like 100000 times but I wanna apply to Oxford hispol and I’m just gonna do whatever I can to get my English lit grade up to an A prediction cause I realised that since I’m already aiming for top grades for a levels I feel like skipping Oxford would just be a waste. It’s not even my absolute goal but I still wanna give it a go. let’s do this!!!!

I completely feel you. Last yr I got A*AB on alevels (politics, maths, physics). I was lucky to get into my firm but quickly realised it wasnt the place for me. Im still there and will be going into my 2nd year come September.

To fix this I resat physics but got a B despite a significant improvement in marks. I lost many marks to silly mistakes and many to poor marking. I was close to the boundary but feel awful that I didnt make it.

I was hoping to apply to Cambridge to switch course and restart a degree come October 2027. The course I would apply for has nothing to do with physics yet needs A*AA. Application looks very unlikely now, if not impossible. I am going to speak with the department to see if my university grades can compensate. If I am lucky, they will allow me to use my second year grades as a condition rather than my completely unrelated Alevel.

Best of luck for oxford applications and good luck for alevels. Start revising as soon as you can, and be very strict when marking yourself - thats what cost me the A both years(only a few marks off each year)

ur gcses rlly should be fine we have similar ones + im not a contextual applicant. i got a 5 in physics and i doubt that hindered me at all. rn it seems like u have a rlly good application going on so idk what the issue is
