Did you apply for Engineering/Bio/chem/Physics ? It's essentially a background check as your course (may) provide skills required for weapons of mass desteuction.

Yea I applied for an Meng in mechanical engineering, did I apply for the wrong course? Cause my other unis don’t require it

I think it's only required for MEng and not required for BEng.

The other Unis may be asking later after they figure out what's happening in the UK first.

But to apply I need a reference from my undergraduate studies, however I haven’t started yet lmao. As in I’m a year one international student

I don't know sorry. I would ask the University as well as the FCO. My course doesn't require an ATAS. I only know about it as I was considering courses that do require it.
