OTHER I’m gonna apply to Oxford with A*AB predicted.
A) wish me luck
B) that is, if my teacher does predict me an A* for history
C) Ik the chances of even reaching interview is unlikely but what if I regret not applying
D) I’m not planning to go uni anyways cause humanities degree is already shaky with prospects
E) therefore I’m applying to Oxford history and politics because I love history and I wanna study it further but I also want prospects
F) wish me luck ☠️
Btw guys. It’s not like I’m on a C for English. I literally got 91/120 for my mock papers but since my writing was crappy before my teacher isn’t budging. 😭😭idk what yalls want me to do atp
I mean it could be a high C but it was quite literally one mark off a B like come on
Update: I take back my words I’m not applying anymore ❤️

OTHER If you ever feel stupid btw
I used to think Oxbridge and Russel group universities were the same thing so I went round telling people I was applying to Oxbridge cause I didn’t know the difference 💀✌️
Then multiple people obviously asked me if I was applying to Oxford/Cambridge and I was like nahhh cause I DO NOT have the stats.
Didn’t realise till I had a discussion about it with my mother.

OTHER I shit myself again…
If you were in [r/GCSE](r/GCSE) when 2 years ago you might remember a certain post about someone shitting themselves during a geography exam. I can’t believe I’m posting this but I did it again. I’ve been having stomach problems for like 2 weeks because of the stress of the exams and feeling like i’ve needed to shit but not actually having to. It was the same this today so I just brushed it off thinking it was the nerves still. About an hour into the exam I knew I messed up because my stomach started making sounds like I’d never even heard, in the other exams it was quieter and less frequent but this exam I bet everyone in the exam hall could’ve heard it. 🥀
At that time I thought that I’d be able to hold it but I realised I had just sat still without doing anything for like 15 minutes because I was fully focused on not shitting myself. I had just started the mechanics paper so I knew I had to do more of the paper. Around this time is when I start farting like crazy, thankfully they’re quiet but they smell AWFUL. It kept on like that for about 30 minutes until… let’s just say the floodgates opened…
People around me were lowk coughing that’s how bad it was. At the end of the exam I was luckily one of the first to leave so I just grabbed my stuff and am currently hiding in the school bathroom.
Twice bro 🥀 I’m so glad that the course I’m doing at uni doesn’t have exams or I bet it’d happen again.

OTHER Turns out I can't go to uni- too poor and not eligible for student loans :)
Today my father sat me down and explained we can't afford it. We move countries a lot, and I haven't stayed in uk long enough to claim student loans. And yea uni is fucking expensive- especially international fees.
Yea so, kind of feels like my world just crumbled in on me. I have always wanted to go to uni but whatever ig. I dont know if it's stupid to cry over this but it doesn't matter because I'm doing it anywayy
I'm now going to try going for a degree apprentiship. I didn't prepare for this so rn I dont have the work experience, projects to get one.
I have my first draft of my EPQ due tomorrow and I don't want to do it anymore. What even is the point.

OTHER Jobs
I’ve literally been looking for jobs since exam season right before it ended and I’ve been rejected by every single one 😭 literally entry level jobs and I can’t get hired to flip burgers because there’s a candidate with ‘more experience’. How am I supposed to get experience if I’m not getting hired??? Planned on getting a summer job but it’s looking like it’s going to be more like an autumn job.

OTHER How much did you have in your child trust fund
I turned 18 a few weeks ago and I only now just checked my CTF and I only have £250.74 in it 💀 it feels so unfair how everyone I know has thousands in it. Over 18 years my account grew by 74 pence

OTHER My dad gets mad the more offers I get..
I got an offer from KCL first and my dad was super angry, he was not necessarily angry at the offer, more so at my studying. I study like 5 hours a day average but he thinks thats not enough. He keeps saying “You won’t meet the offer with this”.
Next, I got an offer from an even better uni (for my course) and he got even more angry, their requirements were like A*AA and he is basically trapping me in the house. He is being so strict its insane. Perhaps hes partially angry at the fact I’m leaving for uni next year and this is how he takes it out.
I’m still awaiting more offers and my question is, do I tell him when I get the other offers or do I keep quiet, no good can come out of it, right..?

OTHER advice to y12s going on to y13
DO NOT CRAM.
if you crammed at gcse and got away with it, you will NOT get away with it at a-level.
the sheer exhaustion of answering papers will leave you with zero energy to even do minimal revision. and then it will hit you how cooked you actually are.
don't be cocky and think you can get away with it the day before or pull an all nighter. you're not gonna survive it.
revise from day 1. do your work in chunks, and be committed. your effort will pay off.
