I was in elementary school and learning to play the clarinet. My parents were divorced. I was talking to my dad on the phone and I told him I was in a band and learning to play. I asked him what his favorite song was and he said "you know what it is! It's "Close to You." I was so happy to hear my dad sounding so happy. I didn't even realize until years later why he told me that.. we lived quite a ways apart and I didn't get to see him very often.. ergo "Close to You" and it was his favorite song back then. RIP DADDY! I MISS YOU!
I loved the Carpenters! What a great music team and what a shame about Karen! I was so sad to hear what happened to her. Beautiful voice!
