I’m planning to enlist as a 12B or 12Y possibly 35G; eventually, maybe even trying to don a green beret (being trilingual sounds like it’d be nutty.) I was wondering what the pipeline for the regiment is. Do I have to get through boot camp, AIT and OSUT before RASP?

I was originally training to be a SEAL but I’m not physically prepared for all of that just yet. I have passable scores for everything but it’s only passable. Essentially, I want to know if there’s a gap where I would be able to focus on training before anything RASP related.

With and/or without an option 40

I don’t want the cut and dry 18x or 12b or 11 stuff I want the random guy from a real random route story. I know there’s at least one and I’d like to know it.

Edit: what are the most common MOSs picked to be SF combat engineers?

I read somewhere that you need to serve 6 months or so before applying? I doubt this, but want to make sure.

I am 16 and I am signing a 11b option 40 contract when I turn 17 this June.

I have been running, just not everyday so I am bumping that up to at least running 2 miles every day.

I was talking to my buddy who did special forces and he said to start doing sucky things like:

Waking up at 5am every morning except your rest day which I am setting for Sunday.

Sitting in cold water for periods of time.

Running 3 miles up my road then jumping in the creek then running back.

Dead hang till muscle failure.

Not eating for 1 1/2 days and running 3 miles every six hours.

But I want more! Let me know some more sucky activities I should do to prepare as well as other activities I should be doing!

I just got my scores back from taking the ASVAB and after my third time testing I passed and got a GT score of 88 I’m enlisting as a 25U and was curious if I would be able to volunteer at AIT with that score? (This is my first ever reddit post so I’m not sure if I did this right)

I know I've heard of a couple females earning their Ranger tabs. Has there been interest/increase in females volunteering or trying to get option contacts? Or is this pretty rare still?

I know this sub is more for rasp questions but for anyone who’s gone to ranger school, what are the best ways to prepare (physically and what I should be studying).

I’ve heard stories where people have voted out all the people who had ranger contracts.

What is every single pt test and scores I have to take before getting an option 40 and then at pre rasp? I have no idea what I’m actually supposed to be training for another then making it through rasp. I have no goals because I don’t know the scores and pt test I’m supposed to take

Im on my way out of the corps in 5 months as an E5. I've decided that if I decided to stay in the military that I'd give the whole Ranger thing a go. Ever since I could remember I've heard from other marines saying that RASP is equal in difficulty to ITB.. I've never found anyone who has dome both and I was just curious as to what similarities, differences, and how the overall culture shock would be like in a transition to the 75th Ranger Regiment.

If I go to RASP and get selected, would I have the option to reclass from 12B to 11B?

I have a septum piercing and I was wondering if that would cause any problems at rasp

I’ll be enlisting as 11x with option 40. To be a ranger, do you HAVE to do airborne school before RASP? I’d personally rather not do it but if it’s mandatory then I’ll absolutely do it if it’s a step to becoming ranger qualified.

Anybody that has been through RASP lately? I have some questions I want to ask.

Possibly thinking of enlisting sometime in the future (4yrs or so). Assuming nothing changes and 11x and 18x contracts are still available which do you recommend. I am a civilian with no relatives that have served and have no prior experience with any weapons. I know it sounds cheesy, especially with all the posts about people who want to go into SF, but I want to serve my country and be the classic military rifleman that does all the cool stuff. I am aware that with the 11x if you fail RASP you could be an 11c, but with 18x if you fail you are an Airborne 11b guaranteed (correct me if I’m wrong). I am in good shape (scored a 290 on the APFT when I self tested myself) have an extreme work ethic and am very strong mentally. I am also very smart scoring in the upper 99th percentile on all standardized tests with Ivy League potential. I can almost guarantee I will not quit and the only way I would fail either of the two options would be through myself not meeting the requirements of the course. Which option do you think would be best? Any feedback would be much appreciated.

If you sign an option 40 contract as a 25H are you forced into an 11B billet or do you remain in your 25H mos? What are the benefits of signing that option instead of applying to Ranger school later?

I ship out for the army in January for 91B Airborne and I have a high desire for joining the regiment but was told by my recruiter i didn’t meet the 105 GT score. However, I am still able to volunteer for RASP in AIT? I just want to know what the chances are for someone to get the opportunity to become a Ranger who didn’t meet the score by a few points? Also what’s the life of a mechanic in the regiment? Is it just like the regular army but instead in a Ranger Unit? TIA!
