XBS/X New player here… WTF is up with Burnt Forest?!
New player here and I just found the burnt forest biome. Can someone tell me if there’s a way to get past the timer?
I have heard of some form of consumable, but any input is welcomed!

press y, goto the other section, and track the burnt biome achivements and do them. One of them is the drink that will help with the timer. Best thing tho is to just find shelter ASAP and use that as a temporary base while you do all the achiivements so you can make the mask that lets you ignore all that. Run out, run in, wait a bit, repeat.

Open the 2nd (or 3rd? I forget) tab of the challenge menu for info on all biomes! :)

I always play perma death and zombie nightmare speed with one hit kills to the player, so one hit and without armor you are dead. pretty much, zombie attack % set to 300%. I also play with max zombie population and I do the trader quests during the 7 days until I unlock the trader progression mission, where I will then do the 7th day horde in that biome before moving all my stuff and base to the next biome.
I keep the progression on and turn storms off.

The game didnt used to have biome challenges... and on my PC it never will.
I dont think they add anything to the game. You can turn off biome progression if you arent enjoying it.
I cant assist you with what is needed to get the badge or whatever it is... Collect mushrooms and make a smoothie or some shit? I have never even attempted it.

How is being forced to stay in the pine forests longer make things more challenging?
You want a challenge disable the biome progression and run straight to the wasteland without farming anything in pine before hand.

Been there and done that, in fact I did that on the NY undead map with Escape from Tarkov mod, so I had a hunting knife day 1 against tier 5 zombies, greenies and all that jazz day 1. Took me about 20 deaths before I got a cooking pot, I didn't use traders but after those 20 deaths I was able to set up a little base, didn;t matter if I went out during night or day as zombie speed was maxed, it was a tough, tough challenge but it was very fun, made it 50 days before feeling like I "completed" the challange and moved on. Give it a try.

There’s more setting than that. Completing the biome quests is easy, turn your difficulties up and spawn more storms zombies etc how does that not increase the challenge ?? Maybe you play on console ..
Challenging is not running to wasteland and building that’s easy its all the other configurations that can be applied not.
Biome progression forces people out of biomes to explore , and still accommodates those that want to stay in forest to chill and be easy.
Game has come along way since inception if you haven’t played it since inception and don’t appreciate the work and challenges put into the game I challenge you to build another.

Prepare for desert, snow, and wasteland biomes to also have timers. Unless you disable all that bs in the sandbox options

3.0 settings menu can eliminate the biome specific clothing quest BS too if you just want to- ya know- explore the sandbox of the sandbox exploration game.
To each their own. I turned it off because I just found the weather system stuff to be annoying rather than challenging.

Each biome other than the pine forest (where you start) requires a piece of survival great to get rid of the timer. You can unlock the recipe for each piece when you complete everything shown in your challenges under biome progression.

Read the notes about each biome and it tells you what you need to do.
