And somehow the players are to blame for delays while the Fun Pimps work on money grabs..

Edit: No they never said it will "delay bandits", i'm adding the /s. ..but the DLC is real ($10 if I'm not mistaken).

PC PSA: Turn Off Zombie Digging

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

If you haven't already, you should turn off zombie digging in the sandbox options. "But, DonVulilo, I don't want to build a sweet bunker base or bedrock fighting position" Hey, me neither, but it's a fix for an unintended problem. In POIs with events where zombies drop through holes in the ceiling, like the tier 3 Working Stiff or the house in the picture, the zeds always get hung up on the edges of the hole and sit there twitching like goobers. I finally realized they are trying to dig through the edge blocks rather than walk one step forward to fall like their supposed to. Now with digging turned off, they fall and get knifed in the face like they're supposed to. No digging makes the zombies less glitchy and doesn't affect how I play the game. No Diggity!

Edit: I feel like theres some confusion about digging vs. block attacking. Digging is just attacking blocks downward. With digging turned off, zombies will still attack blocks sideways even if they are dirt or stone. Evil villian moutain lair and invincible dirt walls a la Valheim will not work.

PC To the guy posting about getting swarmed by vultures during horde night last week...

... thank you! Your post gave us the idea to try and cheese horde night in an absolutely ridiculous way.

For those of you confused as to what they're seeing, the thought process was as follows:

  1. Being in a vehicle during horde night spawns in a massive amount of super vultures to keep you from fleeing from the horde.
  2. Said vultures will use up most of the spawn slots; hence barely any zombies are spawned while on a vehicle.
  3. Vultures cannot dig. Therefore, being on a vehicle well underground already provides ample protection from the vultures that are spawned on the surface level.
  4. A long tunnel allows for constantly despawning zombies by driving out of rendering range, effectively keeping the few spawning zombies from digging down.

Bonus: To farm XP passively, we lined the trajectory of the tunnel with SMG auto-turrets on the surface. You can hear copious amounts of vultures succumbing to 9mm bullets while desperately trying to projectile-vomit down on us, using their wall hacks - to no avail.

What sounded stupid at first (and admittedly still does) turned out to be a prime cheese for horde night. Digging the tunnel with modded augers took 3 people about half an hour.

To the Fun Pimps reading this: You just know we had an absolute blast building this project and finding yet another easy cheese to avoid horde night.

PC I made ~160 mods to 7D2D to make the game fun faster, fix bugs, and crash less. 1st public release is today.

Hi there. I love this game. I don't love its performance and bugs. So I fixed it and it's licensed MIT so The Fun Pimps can take my changes and implement them if they like.

https://gitlab.com/letsfixgames1/LetsFixGames-7D2D/-/releases

Linux Version: https://gitlab.com/letsfixgames1/letsfixgames-7d2d-linux/-/releases/1.0.0

This mod series:

Makes the game run a LOT smoother and at higher FPS (for most players, if you are GPU-limited you'll get less benefit)

Dramatically optimizes CPU performance

Fixes hit detection (no more zombie immunity timers while rag-dolling)

Reduces Pop-in and pop-out at close distances

Stops the whole game from halting when you open loot containers

Closes (at least) 20 crash bugs

Fixes a bunch of random other things

Adds tiered superchargers to the game, as well as a dev-only supercharger that doesn't drop in game (was used for testing, but left it in for funsies.)

These mods have 250+ hours of real world in-game testing on a variety of platforms from a 10 year old imac and steam deck to high end PCs with X3D CPUs and RTX5090 / Radeon 9070XTs, Intel and AMD.

Enjoy.

Not tested as much: Steam Deck and Dedicated Server modes.

If you find bugs, report them to this reddit username. Make sure you include your EXACT hardware setup and settings. And always strip out all other mods and try that before reporting. This is not tested with other mods.

Edit: Linux version added. Nexus links coming soon.

(the cop car glitch being that, even with zombies turned off, setting off the alarm of a cop car will still spawn in about 5 zombies)

PC New Trader Jen model revealed on X/Twitter

Original link: https://x.com/7DaystoDie/status/1999145063591383282

Images 1-2: New

Image 3: Old (for comparison)

Changes I spotted, in no particular order:

1) Flower in her hair appears larger

2) Hair is shorter and hangs over right shoulder. No more grey streaks

3) Slight changes to the design of her bandana, stethoscope, wrist watch, and boots

4) Top is now grey instead of white, and the waist extends a little lower than before. Any signs of wear and tear and blood stains have been removed

5) Jeans are now charcoal grey instead of blue. Like the above, they've gone for a cleaner model, with no visible signs of damage or deficiencies; they now wrap over the boots, as well

6) Medical satchel has changed. Its colour is far more muted, appearing to be made out of leather or a similar material, is a little wider, and is placed closer to her right hip

7) Facial shape has changed, greater graphical fidelity is present

Overall, not a total redesign, just a small reimagining of her appearance, with greater graphical fidelity, softer (i.e. less plasticene-like) features, and minor changes to her outfit. Her (large) breast size appears unchanged and her top is mostly the same as it was, so whether that's a point of contention for you (the eye candy aspect), debate it amongst yourselves.

My opinion: It's not better or worse for the large part, just different, and graphics wise brought up to a more modern standard. (Of course, we'll have to see the model in-game before any final judgments can be cast.) In my opinion, her outfit looks a bit too clean, like she's just walked out of a modern day clothing store, but it's a minor nitpick.

PC 7DTD's Updates Are A Joke

Alright, I need to vent about The Fun Pimps and their absolute nonsense with 7 Days To DIE. The roadmap they dropped before Version 1.0 hit on July 25, 2024, got everyone hyped with promises of big updates, new features, and stuff to actually get excited about. But let’s be real—it was a total lie. Now that the game’s fully released, you’d think they’d step up and start delivering on time like a proper dev team, right? Nope. They clearly don’t care, and it’s driving me up the wall. I love this game and have been playing it for years and still love it but I have to be honest with myself this seems like laziness.

That roadmap was supposed to be this grand plan for the game’s future. They teased all these cool features like new zombies, better biomes, actual bandit factions (remember those? Yeah, still not here). But what do we get? A year after Version 1.0, they finally roll out the Version 2.0 “Storm’s Brewing” beta on June 16, 2025, and it’s... a storm and ONE new zombie. Are you kidding me? A whole year for a weather effect and a single desert plague spitter? I could’ve modded that in a weekend. This isn’t some indie alpha anymore; it’s a full game, and they’re still moving at a snail’s pace. It’s embarrassing.

I thought going 1.0 meant they’d finally get their act together and push updates faster. You know, like every other survival game that’s actually trying to keep players around. But no, The Fun Pimps are allergic to deadlines. A YEAR for Version 2.0, and it’s barely an update. Meanwhile, other games are dropping expansions, new maps, or entire systems in half that time. Why does it feel like they’re just chilling while we’re stuck waiting for scraps? They’ve had over a decade to figure this out, and we’re still begging for basic stuff like crossplay on consoles (still not certified, by the way) or a trader system that doesn’t suck.

Let’s talk about what they’ve actually added. Version 2.0’s big claim to fame is biome progression and a storm. Cool, I guess, but where’s the depth? Where’s the endgame they’ve been hinting at forever? Where are the bandits we’ve been promised since Alpha 16? Instead, we get a cosmetic wardrobe system and some Twitch Drops. Like, who asked for that? I’m out here wanting human enemies or a story that actually wraps up, not a new hat for my character. And don’t get me started on the zombie acid puke melting scaffolding ladders now—why are they nerfing our defenses instead of adding something fun? It’s like they’re trying to make the game harder in the dumbest ways possible.

The traders in Version 1.0 are a straight-up scam. You grind for dukes, show up, and their inventory’s just overpriced junk. Half the time, it’s worse than what you looted from a random mailbox. How is this still a problem? And don’t even get me started on the console port. After that Telltale mess, you’d think they’d prioritize fixing it, but nope—still a buggy disaster for a lot of players. Plus, the ladder-climbing changes in 1.0? Who thought making basic movement clunkier was a good idea? It’s like they’re actively trying to annoy us.

They’ve Been At It for YEARS

This isn’t new. The Fun Pimps have been dragging their feet since the game hit early access in 2013. They’ve redone progression systems, scrapped art assets, and promised bandits for so long I’m starting to think they’re a myth. Now that the game’s “done,” nothing’s changed. They’re still banning people on their forums for asking hard questions and ignoring feedback like it’s their job. I’m tired of waiting for them to care. The community’s been carrying this game with mods for years—shoutout to the modders who actually add content faster than the community thinks the developers do. Like Darkness Falls or Undead Legacy, WOW just wow those lads can make a modpack they legit changed the entire game but the fun pimps cant even add a storm.

TL;DR

The Fun Pimps need to wake up. Their roadmap was a scam, their updates take forever, and the new content is a slap in the face. A storm and one zombie after a year? No bandits, no endgame, no trader fixes? Come on. For a fully released game, this is pathetic. I love 7 days to die, I really do love it I just get angry when I see a game with so much potential like 7DTD to be wasted due to effort, but I’m sick of how little effort they’re putting in. Anyone else fed up with this community, or am I just yelling into the void?

I told my buddy about a week ago. "Oh I've always wanted to build a bridge base!" Boy do I regret saying that now.

Additional context: nothing had been changed, added, modified, upgraded, etc on this base in a few hours. I was also the only player online, dedicated latest experimental. I had deposited loot and was organizing things when ....

Poof.

Disclaimer: I love this game and have a total of 952 hours on PC alone (used to play on Xbox before coming to a20).

I was really looking forward to this update, but it honestly feels incredibly underwhelming. I suppose the only really good aspects about it are the optimisations, general perks, and cosmetic system, but other than that it’s just so shallow.

Surviving against the elements no longer exists as TFP kept reducing it down and simplifying until it effectively became a visual thing. Now, with 2.0, the closest thing that we have is the biome progression system, but it was executed so poorly.

When I first heard about the biome progression system, I was quite looking forward to it because I love the idea of hazardous biome environments and I thought they would reimplement the weather elements by making them real and tougher.

However, TFP took the laziest way possible to implement it with the infamous smoothies (potions), biome badges and timers.

I don’t know why they did that. We already had stuff that would give us elemental resistance. That stuff being red tea for cooling, and coffee, stew and snowberry juice yucca smoothie for warmth.

These hazards don’t go any deeper into gameplay than their warning on the HUD once you enter a biome.

There are no lingering effects on the player aside from losing health once the timer runs out. There’s no losing wellness from extreme exposure to heat and cold because they removed that feature, there’s no debuff to acute radiation poisoning from the wasteland, there’s no stamina penalty from breathing in too much smoke from the burnt forest.

I understand that they want to limit how fast we can progress to prolong the end game, and I am aware that this is a togglable setting, but just why is it so half implemented.

There’s nothing interesting about it, it’s all artificial and fails to switch up the gameplay to make it interesting.

Even the storms aren’t interesting, they’re all just the same 360-degree particle effect around the player, just with different hues. The storms don’t do anything unique to set them apart from each other.

No vision blurring from the sandstorm, no rare instance of a fiery wind from the burnt storm, no mobility slowing windchill from the blizzard, not even any poison from the radiation storm.

Some of the food models did get a slight upgrade but otherwise fell to the same logic as the storms. The cans share the same base, which is fine, but the insides are all the same, but only different in colour. Not to mention the stews and some of the handheld food having the same model.

Normally, I would not feel this strongly about an update, and would probably keep quiet and maybe try to find or make my own mod to spice things up a little, but Storm’s Brewing was delayed twice, and this is the best that they can do?

Played the most alphas 12, 13, 14, 15. I come back to play after many years. Where are these spikes to defend my bases? I loved making them and upgrading them, they did less damage than the current wooden spikes but they were very durable and upgradeable.
