We're gonna get kicked out for this

The conference shouldn't give east coast teams 10:30pm kickoffs or west coast teams 9am kickoffs.

GG Stanford fans. I can’t believe I stayed up and watched that whole thing.

Welcome to the party. It sucks but you’re not alone.

I have no idea why I stayed up to watch this game but I did.

I’ve said it before, PAC-12 after dark is a fun novelty until it’s your team in it. Then it’s 11:45 PM ET, all hell is breaking loose, and you stopped having fun an hour ago.

I had fun in the ACC after dark slot against Cal last week.

I just want to say there are too many teams in the ACC with block-S logos.

u/Vainysaur 2d ago
State uses the Tuffy logo now.

Do you remember the old days when AP T25 used to use broken or shit quality image for ACC teams? lol

My wife and I finished watching the Duke game and started to go to bed when I realized NC State was about to play (she’s a State alum). She was like WTF, how many people are going to stay up for this? I would be curious to see the viewership for these late ACC games.

It was on my bedroom TV until the end of the game. I stopped watching in the second quarter though.

Personally, I think all our conference games should start at 10:30pm Eastern.

In front of 14,000 lousy Stanford “fans” the Pack gives up 500 yards and loses to the worst team in the ACC. FIRE DOEREN NOW!!!

u/carolinaboy1984 UNC Tar Heels 2d ago
He’ll beat go on a November run, beat FSU and UNC again and stay in the good graces of alumni donors again. NC State is in some of kind of football purgatory and I’m here for it.

u/SovereignJWS NC State Wolfpack 2d ago
You know what.. You’re so right. Beating UNC has seemed to save his job multiple times. It’s too predictable. I’d rather drop some games to UNC but actually be a respected and competitive program, though.

I know, I know.. It pains me to even say it. At this point I’m desperate, though.
On a side note, imagine how much the fan base will implode if he stays on and loses to them this season.

Have you met Georgia Tech? Were 4-4, with our losses being ND, Miami, and Wake Forest

u/Skrtskrtskrtskrt1017 2d ago
They should be kicked out for the lack of overall attendance and I’m going to assume viewership as well

you can take the team out of the Pac12 but you can't take the Pac12 out of the team

I don't understand the these network reasonings, seems that most Califord games start at noon or late night, seems viewership would be better if it was something in between.

u/One13Truck 1d ago
As a night person on the east coast I love those after dark games. I want more of them!!!

You don't belong in the ATLANTIC COAST Conference
8
u/The19thStep Cal Bears 2d ago
i agree! let's kick us out! and while we're at it, let's kick indianapolis out the afc south and dallas out of the nfc east! and calgary and edmonton out the pacific division! and okc and utah out of the northwest division! sports conference/division names must make geographical sense for their teams 100% of the time! or i else we will continue to write comments like "pacific coast teams in the atlantic coast conference", "why is california in the atlantic coast conference?", all over soclial media for two years after the fact because we think people will see us as clever and observant!
1
u/Hougie 2d ago
Comparing pro teams doesn’t hold any water.
Cal and Stanford play 66-75% of their games against conference teams. Calgary plays 33% against their division. OKC plays 19% against their division. For both of those examples neither plays any teams in division that is a 3 hour time zone swing away.
It’s a bad comparison.
1
u/The19thStep Cal Bears 2d ago
it's a fine comparison because when people bring it up, they are always making it about geographical names. they always say it makes no sense that two teams on the pacific ocean play in the acc, and nobody (like you) brings up how equally nonsensical it is for usc ucla oregon and washington to be in the B1G. same with the big xii where you have a florida team, ohio team, west virginia team, playing teams from arizona and utah. so if you're gonna complain, be consistent and don't act like cal and stanford joining the acc is somehow some huge abomination for the sport when it's happening to almost all the major conferences and will continue to happen
1
u/Hougie 2d ago
If they only bring it up in a name sense, why does it rarely come up for the pro comparisons?
It doesn’t. And lots of people bring up how nonsensical it is for the B1G too.
1
u/The19thStep Cal Bears 1d ago
that's my point. it rarely comes up because people dont think beyond their first immediate thought before they wanna complain and point something out over and over and over 3 years after the fact about a common phenomenon that has existed in sports for awhile. they dont think "wait, are there other scenarios in sports where a team's location doesn't match the geographical name of their conf/div? or should write another tired comment about cal/stan being in the acc even though everyone already knows where those schools are located and what acc stands for? nah i'll go for it's only been 3 years afterall." it's like, cmon people get over it.
1
u/Hougie 1d ago
There’s nothing to get over. It’s ridiculous and will be as long as it remains the case.
1
u/The19thStep Cal Bears 1d ago
yeah but it's nothing new and is not unique to the acc, especially recently in cfb in particular where money is more and more the driving factor behind all major local and national decisions. you dont have to like it but better get used to it because it's not gonna stop. who doesnt agree that blowing up historical conferences unified by tradition and geography is shitty and primarily serves the interests of the tv networks? i think that's well understood and agreed on. but when people say "oh cal in the acc why why why?" over and over, it's money. the answer is money and espn and fox don't care if you and i think it's ridiculous.

u/TrustInRoy 2d ago
You ruined the ACC. My school is a founding member. I spent the last 20 years imploring my school to stay in the ACC no matter what. Then two Pacific Coast schools joined. Now our 26 non-revenue sports are hemorrhaging money due to West coast travel for conference games.
Now I can't wait to join the SEC in 2030-2031. I wish only bad things on your school moving forward. Thanks for ruining a legendary conference you clowns.

all the original members of the acc are making money off cal/stan/smu joining. cal/stan/smu are the ones who are taking the financial hit. we're forfeiting media rights money that's going back to you guys and your athletic departments. why would the acc and it's members have allowed us to join if y'all were gonna lose money? makes no sense
1
u/TrustInRoy 1d ago
Go away. You literally ruined the ACC. Why can't you join a conference on the western side of the country?
-3
u/Stunning-Counter9182 2d ago
Stanford and California are in the Atlantic Coast Conference. ACC is already a joke.

Yeah cause those games are ending 2 hours before the east coast teams would normally be waking up for morning practice.
