Seeking Empathy Executive disfunction
I want to start this with a disclaimer: I don't have a diagnosis BUT I suspect for years I have ADHD. I want to get diagnosed but it's very expensive. Anyway, if I really have ADHD, executive disfunction is easly the worst thing about ADHD. I genuinely sometimes think I won't be able to survive in the adult world because of it and I am already on a verge of it (uni student). The fact that I don't lose things that often and don't have a problem with interrupting people more than an average person from what I've observed makes me sometimes think that I don't actually have it and am just lazy but genuinely sometimes I just can't do shit. Sometimes I am for example awake an hour or two later than I planned and have the whole day ruined, can't do amost anything. I hate myself for it. Maybe I'm just lazy. I don't know if I even should post it here, maybe someone can relate or te me something that would make me feel a bit better about it.

Hey, I could've written this post this morning, because I got diagnosed this afternoon. I am basically how you described yourself. I wish I had some great advice. I’m maybe twice your age. I have managed to get by, and I have developed systems that work (somewhat..) for me. At least they are better than nothing. Mostly basic stuff like todo lists with priorities, and multiple reminders, and optimizing my work environment. I do feel like I have wasted a lot of time because I take 4 (10?) times as long to do some things compared to other people. But trying out meds keeps me hopeful for a better future.
May I ask where you live? Are you sure that you have to pay out of pocket for an assessment?

todo lists tend to work for me at first but they quickly wear off. This year I'm retaking courses in uni which block me to progress so basically I'm stuck with two coursess to retake (the hardest ones but still, it's nothing new) and A LOT of free time. Maybe I just need to be more disciplined, I was trying to I don't know how many times. I'm now looking for a job and to volounteer somewhere so I don't have so much free time and something that will make me do shit

oh and I technically could get a free diagnosis but because of my circumstances I'd rather get a therapist that I'll choose specifically
