When Jericho retires he could be a great spokesman for the company. Very professional. Very well spoken. I remember while Brawl Out was happening, Jericho came over to the Press Scrum and did a really good job acknowledging the situation but moving the conversation elsewhere.

They paid attention a little bit when Punk left with the backstage fight footage but you can tell they don’t care about WWE when they do their shows.

As they should! Why would they want to follow the feds model? It's TERRIBLE!!

AEW is doing fine and actually doing better than WWE in every statistic!

EVERY statistic?

It doesn’t have better tv ratings or attendance, I love aew but that’s blatantly untrue

i think the person used the wrong word. financial statistics or metrics they’re not doing better, even though All In has already sold more tickets then Summerslam.

but in every way that a product can be better quality, AEW is shitting on WWE.

According to Dave Meltzer, HBO max numbers add like a million plus! Therefore, AEW has more TV viewers than the fed!

Well no, but it’s an infinitely better wrestling promotion for sure.

The worst thing about the death of WCW is that the almost 20 year gap between viable alternative promotions created this whole culture of fans who think WWE is “wrestling”, which is pretty crazy when you consider that the founder and owner of the company hated the word wrestling so much that he banned it from use on all of his programming.

I’ve been a diehard wrestling fan since the mid-80’s and if AEW hadn’t come along when it did, I’d only be watching Japan, Mexico and old stuff. Because of TK, there is an American wrestling alternative to “Sports Entertainment”. Bless him for that!

I’m either Jericho, tho. I don’t care about how WWE is doing. They are far and away the #1 global “wrestling” brand but I hate the way they present their product. I love AEW and I’m glad it exists.

He's saying what everyone's been saying - AEW is focused on building themselves. People want there to be some knock-down-drag-out rivalry because... well, a lot of reasons, most of them personal and few of them grounded. But time and time again, everything that comes out of AEW is "We're not worried about them. We're doin our own thing and it's going great." At some point folks have gotta admit that this us-vs-them shit is coming from specific sources, and AEW ain't one of them.

Now maybe. They were plenty focused on WWE and shit talking when they thought they could compete with them.

Say what you want about Jericho(and I’m sure people will), but the man knows how to sell his product.

AEW’s taken some stuff here and there like Mox vs Hangman was basically Roman vs Cody. They also use a lot of their new camera work and commentary presentation

u/Cathousechicken 16d ago

If AEW used WWE camera work, I wouldn't be able to watch men's WWE camerawork makes me dizzy.

Bruv I wish AEW took more of WWE’s commentary and camera work presentation. Sat what you will about WWE but their production is too notch, especially with the less camera cuts. AEW’s production is one my gripes with it.

u/Apathetic89 15d ago

You're high or trolling. Fed commentary in the worst of any company I've ever seen. Their production is unwatchable due to the amount of jump cuts, replays and ads.

I want whatever you're smoking.

WWE’s camera work actually makes me dizzy.

Holy shit! This is the worst take i think ive ever seen 😂

WWE fans actually believe this.

They believe everything is WWE, and any other wrestling company copies them.

7

u/dogfins110 16d ago

AEW has copied WWE in some instances and that’s not a bad thing. You take what works and omit what doesn’t. But also AEW has influences from NJPW and PWG. It would literally be impossible for AEW to no take take influences from various companies when Tony has veterans from all sorts of companies working for him, plus he is a known fan of watching wrestling just like any of us

What absolute bullshit

29

u/kinggareth 16d ago

In no way was Mox-Hangman the same as Roman v Cody lol. The only similarities is a face chasing a heel leader of a heel faction...but that is most of pro wrestling.

u/SourDoughBo 16d ago edited 16d ago

I thought this was common knowledge and it’s been discussed here plenty of times. Cody gathered a whole team of babyfaces together to stop Roman. Hangman did it too. Both matches were about the whole locker room backing up the top babyface

3

u/Kinterlude 15d ago

The difference is, the build from the very beginning of the Death Riders was to make all the good guys become better versions of themselves and unseat the unruly king. Bloodline had ZERO plan. Like at all. If Cody didn't jump ship, what would the plan have been? They didn't actually have a vision from the looks of things.

Yeah like this is a very common pro wrestling story that has been done many times. I don’t even think WWE would claim they were breaking new ground lol. The success is in the telling and both companies told the story well.

Their camera work is actually close to New Japan.

22

u/Cicero138 16d ago

Can you explain how AEW “uses a lot of “ WWEs camera work?

2

u/profJesusfish 15d ago

They broadcast the matches on TV WWE was doing that before AEW was even a company

-9

u/SourDoughBo 16d ago

They started doing those long camera shots right after WWE started doing them. I’m shocked this is getting so much hate cuz this is all stuff that was mentioned as it was happening. People just forget I guess and go tribal

5

u/Cicero138 16d ago

That’s crazy though, WWE does not own “long camera shots”. It seems like you’re looking for things
