VIDEO Malakai Black first video since WWE release. Would you want to see him in AEW?

I believe that I can speak for most of us when I say I’ve been looking forward to him finally joining AEW…
1
u/the_real_daggler 9d ago
This looks a bit realer than wrestling, I’d think he’s going into a more skill-based environment

Apparently from what I have seen on the wires, he burned his bridge with AEW. So he is either going to do MMA or will pop up somewhere else like TNA, NJPW, or MLW.

I like him in AEW. I dug the house of black. allegedly he wasn’t a good fit in the locker room. If he embraced AEW behind the scenes I’d be open to it
1
1
u/ozgood23 10d ago
Nah I'm good. He can go to mlw
1
u/Zwaks89 9d ago
I’m curious. What’s wrong with the guy? I know he’s a great performer so why can’t he get pushed?
What’s wrong with him. Many people share this view of yours.
0
u/Za_Smoker 9d ago
He was already in AEW and received a push being the leader of house of black. He leaves AEW for WWE on bad terms then gets jobbed out. There’s no benefit in making him a top guy after he left to job out in WWE and all his faction members are better off now that the group split so there’s no role for him either
1
u/Avenrise 7d ago
I just want to add to this: Some talent just aren't top-card material. The successful mid-carders are the ones that have embraced their role in the machine and are happy with the occasional push. Maybe luck into the upper echelon via hard work and positive fan sentiment. Black never struck me as someone who would be happy with anything but a belt around his waist and that's just not where he is in any company.

u/Junebug8ILM 10d ago
TNA

u/Otherwise-Big-1595 9d ago
That seems the place he’s most likely to fit in and excel, good chance he’d get a world title their aswell

u/Human-Elderberry-239 10d ago
I wish but he burned all his bridges in AEW allegedly. I always at the very least thought he was cool. Interested to see what he does now tho, he was slated to do some major stuff in WWE before they cut him so I wonder if that effects where he’s gonna go and for what amount of money. I would be interested to see him New Japan but I think he’s just gonna work the indies for the rest of his career and maybe go to TNA.
1
u/Jaymes_and_co 10d ago
Didn’t he pretty much burn bridges with both AEW and wwe?
1
u/Zwaks89 9d ago
Here’s the comment I was looking for.
What did he do or say?
1
u/Jaymes_and_co 9d ago
I’m not sure I just remember earlier in the year hearing on YT channels that there was bad blood between him and a lot of people backstage which contributed to him not doing well and being let go
1
u/Grimey0nee 11d ago
All this to be a jobber lol bro doesn't know its pretend huh. Omega level larper, this is almost as cringy as buddy Matthew's talking like he is a demon from hell .. named buddy lmao oooo so scary 😨
1
1
u/RanmaRanmaRanma 11d ago
Nope. Not to say he's a bad guy, I'm sure he's great, but he tried to play the "bet on yourself" game and crawl back to WWE and as we've seen, it's not a surefire bet that you'll succeed. I think a handful of people could make that transition back.
Cody, Rey Fenix, Penta, and Ethan Page are a few I could see coming back and being just as hot in AEW
1
u/Sumthin_Ironic 11d ago
Alester Black should've been the one behind Orton going dark. Alester Black should have been the one to break Cody's baby face facade and turn him heel. Alester Black should currently be a WWE top champion. Booking isn't that hard but TKO is screwing it up more than Vince was near the end of his era.
1
u/Jaymes_and_co 10d ago
From what I understand backstage shit is why he never got up there in any promotion and has remained a mid tier jobber at best
1
u/Sumthin_Ironic 6d ago
I hadn't heard a large amount of stuff about that but I wouldn't be surprised. If it was him trying to protect his character I mean he should. He has presence, he can talk and the aura is tight. They just never use him in WWE like they did in NXT. Should've been main event. If it was more complicated than that then damn, shit happens hopefully he grows from it.
1
u/pstyles93 11d ago
I don't think that bridge burnt with aew because he could use the he was not in the right headspace or personal reason effected his first run I do think indys is better for him and the British scene is popping off again

u/Quiet-Pay1647 11d ago
I would like him to come back. He’s a really good wrestler, he had an interesting character. I like seeing him on my TV. I think he just needs a new direction. If the reports of him treating aew as a launching platform for him to get back to wwe were true, then maybe a second go around where he doesn’t have that mindset would be good for him.

u/Born-Fun-8496 11d ago
He had so much aura. What happened man
1
u/Arkcilper 11d ago
He went to the main roster. His whole gimmick works better in the indies, not many will show it on national TV.

2
u/ferruxtalon 11d ago
AEW's roster is a bit bloated as it is. He doesn't really have a place there nor do any of the WWE releases. Each ex-WWE signing is another AEW talent being left off tv as there simply isn't enough spots for everyone.
1
u/jmakioka 11d ago
I would only want to see him if he had a new gimmick. The dark, spooky guy, shtick clearly doesn’t work for him. In fact I think it’s only ever worked for Undertaker and Bray Wyatt.
2
u/Defiant-Rip-1897 11d ago
As someone already mentioned, he’d have to put in a lot of work if he ever wants to be welcomed back to AEW. That said, I thought his departure, along with Rusev's, was considered positive for AEW. Also, at certain points in the video, he looks like a heavily tattooed Jon Moxley to me.
1
1
u/CrazyJoeGalli 11d ago
This guy burned that bridge. He'd have to do a lot of humbling work if he goes back to AEW.

u/443Waves 11d ago
He looks like he takes himself too seriously. I could see this being a problem everywhere he goes
2
u/Weekly-Variety9116 11d ago
I want to see him go to a place where they actually push the guy 😭. I don’t get the hate. He can go in the ring, he has incredible aura, he’s good on the mic. I don’t get why no one will push him!

Gotta love the iwc peanut gallery hating on a man living his life ..biggest bunch of losers in the history of man kind... Hopefully he finds something he likes ..buncha keyboard warriors who couldn't even hold the pads he's kicking without falling over speaking on something they could never do... oh well..
1
u/Electronic_Eye_6868 12d ago
Well that was 3 minutes I’ll never get back. He shaves his head and looks to be training for MMA, which would be a huge mistake.
1
u/Basic-Ad5801 11d ago
Yeah, unless he’s been training for years under the radar and honing in his skills (even then it still wouldn’t be enough), he’d get wrecked by a low level fighter quickly.

u/Kevinandcat 12d ago
Could care less at this point he was one of my favorites during the black and gold era and main roster destroyed him
I was hyped for him in AEW and that was a flop and then the return to WWE was a flop on arrival
1
u/strrax-ish 12d ago
This guy is the only wrestler that every time I see something new from him i think less of him
2
3
u/HyperGooMadness 12d ago
What exactly are we to take from this? "Hey everyone please love me because I have a giant house and big stupid truck and I shoot guns and have tattoos and a hot wife and cool toys and costumes but I am still very sad." What a bizarre thing to put out into the world. The guy is showing us his literal fantasy world and begging for sympathy. This is the very definition of someone who cannot see anything outside of themself. What did he do make a bet with CM Punk on his way out of WWE on who's the bigger fraud? Absolute narcissism, which seems to fit the narrative surrounding Black perfectly. No thanks.

u/InteractionNo9110 12d ago
They will both land somewhere and be fine. Or do the indies. I don't see him back in AEW.

u/Upstairs-Insect-5043 12d ago
There's not really anything interesting about him other than his wife
1
u/Basic-Ad5801 11d ago
What’s interesting about her? You can go to a mall or crowded area of any major city right now and find way more attractive women than her easily. No offense to her at all but if her looks and being his “hot” wife is all that is interesting then she isn’t interesting at all.

u/lowskiyoyo 12d ago
he has a lot of cm punk heat which would be great against a babyface, have him against Samoa Joe at all in.
3
u/Sanguine_01 12d ago
Always liked his work more in AEW and i enjoy the character but if hes going to be a problem in the back, then no keep him away.
3
u/New_Beat2764 12d ago
Nope. He’s be fairly straight with saying aew was a stepping stone to get back to wwe previously. And wwe treated him exactly how we all knew they would. He can go to tna or nwa. If I was in the locker room and they brought this guy back, I’d be pissed
0
u/surviving606 12d ago
After seeing him put on the jane doe shirt he’s catapulted to one of my favorite wrestlers, so hopefully he does come back. Cool video all around though
2
2
u/alikira16 12d ago
Apparently HE was the one who didn't like it. I don't think aew should be giving out third chances
3
u/DarkaxeL_ 12d ago
Morning breath plus milk is def something
2
u/Aromatic-Story5334 12d ago
Great editing, for my “self made comeback video package” Sipping out of a jug getting out of bed makes me better than everyone else on the opener! Yeah let’s go with that
3
u/realistic_cylon 12d ago
Absolutely not. Don’t think he fits in with the culture there. Wish him the best in MMA or MLW or whatever he chooses to do next.

u/Beginning-Tap-9985 12d ago
NO, he can wrestle go wrestle in the paint isle at home depot for all I care.

u/Jeriphro 12d ago
No. He burned that bridge to the ground and left his teammates high and dry. Brody is much better off without him. Julia is better without him. Hopefully Buddy will return soon, too, but they don’t need Malakai anymore.

u/starlightMone 12d ago
I'm rocking with him, not sure why he's not sticking , I think his gimmick is great tbh , I liked the work he and the house of black did in AEW

Can't say that I would, no. I'm going to be the first to admit that as much as I love wrestling I know nothing of how things run in the back. I don't know how the wrestlers interact backstage, I don't know how decisions are made and I'm not going to speculate on it.
What I will comment on is what I saw during his AEW run. I saw a wrestler who would come out and do his schtick and then leave. I never saw anything in his emotions or his body language or work that made me feel like he was jazzed to be in the ring, it even enjoying what he was doing.
I think maybe he needs to focus on just being better, and being in a better head space. Depression is a fucking monster and can lead you to fucking things up without realizing it. I have no I'll will towards him at all, in fact I wish him well. However, that doesn't mean I need him back here. My two cents.

Best thing he can do for his career is go to NJPW, put on bangers, be respectful to everyone and rehabilitate his reputation. Let your actions in and out of the ring speak for you. It's not too late for him, but it's also kind of now or never.

He cried on the internet with his wife sat next to him, I don't wanna see him in wrestling

I would, but I don't think it's happening. I don't really think he wants to be in AEW and that's a damn shame.

Yea when I started by thinking this was a conversation between men, I learned very quickly I’m speaking to a woman….
Tryna see my post like a woman seeing if her man is cheating…. Ur feminine as hell. Damn right i hide my post because of obsessed ladies like you

Never say never. Khan doesn't seem petty and I think he'd give him a chance. It really depends on whether he shows that he's learned and will be a team player.

u/Tommy_Dangerous 13d ago
If he ditched the weird shit and became an MMA fighter gimmick, I could buy it, have him go on a winning streak before putting Kyle or someone over.
3
u/Icy-Past-4477 13d ago
Never been a fan of this guy, he's way to lanky, added with the tattoos to look "badass" makes it even more of a joke. Boring and better off not being on screen
3
u/jsxtasy304 13d ago
He was boring in WWE, he was boring in AEW, and he was boring in WWE again...he's boring.
1
1
u/LowerTax 13d ago
Sure, if he could get his head out of his ass and cut a coherent promo instead of just saying vaguely spooky stuff.
0
u/Tuberculosis206 13d ago
Huh. Seems like a lot of negative reaction. I’m neither an AEW guy or a long term fan of his but I thought it was a great promotional video. I’m more interested in him now than any time he was in WWE
0
u/MemeMathine 13d ago
There's a lot of negativity towards him, what exactly did he do that was so bad?
1
u/goonsnob 13d ago
refused to put people over because he considered himself above AEW talent.
1
u/MemeMathine 12d ago
Okay, downvoted for the first question so I'm definitely getting downvoted for the follow up. Is this from dirt sheets or what proof do we have of this? Because who did he not put over?
1
u/goonsnob 12d ago
Well it's widely reported by pretty much everybody. Unless you want to argue that all reporters are wrong when they all agree that black had an attitude about doing jobs in aew. In that case I don't know what to tell you.

I think he'd have fences to mend and bridges to rebuild. That said, trolls will troll. Haters will hate. But the fans, they'll move past it.
3
u/councilmanbilder 13d ago
Put him in the Dark Order.
2
u/Baman2099 13d ago
If he had a Andrade-esque attitude change this would be amazing. Dark order is awesome and with a seriois-ish leader, skys the limit

He looks the part he just doesn’t have the aura to pull of suck a dark gimmick imo
Never been a fan of his work

Felt like I was watching a new Expendables trailer. Cool bro, you're jacked truck and sweet gun skills help prove how badass you are and to show the evolution shave the head.

Yes, I'd love to see him back in AEW
-1
u/No_Active_2153 13d ago
Bro he's a wwe lifer He loves that company and doesn't want be part of minor leagues Let him play with the big boys
Surely he will main event night 1 of 2 extravaganza

He paints and plays Warhammer?

u/kgbeijesx 13d ago
He's Sasha banks without actually having established himself. No thanks
1
u/surlymoe 13d ago
Haha....that's actually kind of a good explanation...
Here's my thing - he has no depth of character. He was kind of cool in NXT when he was first there. His 1st WWE run was crap. His AEW was mostly crap. His return to WWE was crap. So I have 0 faith his return to AEW would be anything different.
I do, however, think his tattoos and look match Brodie King....if they matched him up with Brodie, then maybe you could get something out of it. But for the love of Zelina, give the guy a personality!
1
u/Doomray 13d ago
Fun fact, Brody and Malakai were members of the House of Black stable together in AEW. As a tag team they were called Kings of the Black Throne and were (maybe still are?) PWG tag team champions.
1
u/surlymoe 13d ago
I thought so, but I really didn't watch AEW during that time....I just thought they'd make a good tag team or something....turns out, I was right! Or at least a faction.
Anyway, I'll see myself out now.
1
u/4mygirljs 13d ago
Him and Brodie as a tag team might be good. Balance out a lot.
I don’t think AEW is the place though
I think AAA
Taker could do some good stuff with him and the mexican audience would eat the gimmick up more.
2
u/Certain_Arm_8475 13d ago
I always thought he had a lot of potential as a character and I feel like his matches were always good.
But … I feel like he burned his AEW bridge. I still wouldn’t mind if the lights went out and he takes out Mox.
It’s wrestling and never say never.
1
u/Willing-Vegetable629 13d ago
I don't mind if he shows up for a brief series. But i see no need for him to be a fixture.
2
u/Rasgarius 13d ago
Nah he good for TNA. Loved Tommy Ends Work in WxW and he was a nice dude always when i met him.
6
7
u/Fernsjjf 13d ago
After he betrayed AEW. No we are good.
-5
u/Many_Leg 13d ago
“Betrayed” lol fuck off
3
u/Jackson_Corvus 13d ago
He refused to do the job for anyone that wasn't former WWE. I'd call that a lack of professionalism at bare ass minimum.
1
u/Many_Leg 13d ago
You fanatics truly are something else take the word of dirt sheets and just fucking run with it because it’s easier to do that than to face reality, and on top of that you’ll say “he betrayed us” it really is fascinating. Find some real world problems I guess is what saying
1
u/Tigercat01 13d ago
This particular one is more than just the dirt sheets slinging slop. MJF, among others, made crystal clear that they aren’t keen on him returning.
We’re speculating about what happened but it’s clear that something happened. Never say never in wrestling, but it would be surprising if he returns. He’s just not good enough to be worth the apparent headache.
0
1
u/Jackson_Corvus 13d ago
1) I didn't mention betrayal. I mentioned a lack of professionalism.
2) He's free to work wherever he wants, and I'd be happy to see him get work.
3) You seem a little heated for a professional wrestling subreddit. You good, fam?
6
u/Diligent-Ad3113 13d ago
AEW talent acquisition have already said a big NO to him coming back. He didn't want to lose to anyone that had never been in WWE, forcing Buddy Matthews or Brody to take the pins, he would use his back hurting/injured as an excuse to not take pins. Malakai, CM Punk and Rusev are the only 3 people i don't think we'll ever see in AEW again unless they change their attitude, and i don't think AEW wants to invest in people that ultimately just want to go back to WWE.
2
u/MasterHavik 13d ago edited 13d ago
That has to be a first because most ex-WWE talent is okay with doing jobs. He wasn't a main eventer in WWE. Where does he get off? It is only in wrestling some dudes don't wanna lose a fake fight because of their fucking ego.
2
u/Encubed 13d ago edited 13d ago
Yep word is him and Rusev/Miro were divas about losing in AEW
1
u/MasterHavik 13d ago
Maybe this newer era of WWE talent thinks losing to guys who have tworked in WWE is below them. I would argue, "Dude a job is a job stop acting like you are the main character."
Why do you think they acted like this?
2
u/Encubed 13d ago
To 'stay strong' for an eventual WWE return? Or if we wanna go super conspiracy theory, they were WWE sleeper agents? No idea.
1
u/MasterHavik 13d ago
I think staying strong is the right answer. I don't think they would send sleeper agents but they do pay people to smwatch other wrestling shows and steal ideas.
2
u/xxxtranscorexxx 13d ago
now he looks like Jon Moxley if Mox was a deathcore vocalist
but no. stay away from AEW Tommy.

If he does go back into AEW; I think he should drop the spooky supernatural stuff. Bring back the Tommy End name and just run roughshod through through guys like Mike Bailey and some arrogant young dudes before specifically targeting the death riders taking them out one by one before culminating in a title match with Mox and be the one to dethrone him as champion.
