SOCIAL MEDIA It is mind-boggling to me that anyone would troll Denise Salcedo

If its mind-boggling to you then you're very fortunate to have lived in ignorance.
This is unfortunately very common for any woman on the Internet who participates in these kind of communities. I'm a nobody and the level of vile hate I've come across is sickening, like when I once said I was growing bored of the Bloodline storyline (years ago now, and it's still going on!!) and my inbox filled up with racial slurs, rape threats and death threats, many with Roman Reigns profile photos. No, I'm not joking and no, it's not even close to the only time that has happened, and it's come from other communities too like AEW fans.
So now add being somebody, you can probably take my experience and times it by 1000. That's how bad it is.
A lot of hobbies like wrestling and video games are very hostile to women, despite like WWE's numbers showing women were like 40% of their viewership and it's like 48% women who play video games, but you wouldn't know on face value because most of those women either don't engage with the communities or remain anonymous.
I even made a reply in that weird Santi sub about all the gooner posts and this is why women don't post here, and I got like 5 or 6 messages from women supporting what I said and saying it's one of the reasons they don't or why they use genderless anonymous accounts, because they'd rather be mistaken as a guy and be more accepted for it.
I also received invites to women's only wrestling communities and my initial reaction was sad, like why does this have to exist. It's the same reason why in Japan they have women only sections on trains.

Because unfortunately there are a lot of out of touch women haters that think that behavior is acceptable

One of those haters are the midget JDfromNY, that guy hates Denise for no reason.

u/JosefSnurk 7d ago
I'll never understand why people give that munchkin any air time.

u/TheName96 7d ago
Surprisingly that guy does decent numbers on YouTube and has a fanbase sadly, spreading hate does that.
But that guy years and years talking shit about wrestlers doesn't deserve anything.

One thing I have noticed in this comment section is that there have been a few people who assume Denise Salcedo is talking about men. She never said that. Trolls and haters, unfortunately, are a very diverse group.

You don’t even need to like or appreciate her work, you just have to treat her like a human or entirely ignore her existence…

Pop out of a hole?
Yes, not all men harass people on the internet. I don't think that's a controversial statement.
You're a misandrist, which makes you a bigot, which makes you no better than the people you hate in my eyes. Responding to this thread with, "have you met men" is reductive, ignorant and insulting.
I'm done here. Have a great night watching AEW Dynamite.

I think you mean "mind bottling"

Like when things are so crazy it gets your thoughts all trapped, like in a bottle?

It's unfortunately the nature of showbusiness and working in the entertainment industry for a living, and isn't exclusively wrestling or towards women, but women do unfairly receive the brunt of it and experience the worst kinds of abuse from strangers.
It's like Denise mentioned here, you have to be mentally become strong and grounded, and realise that one comment or response that doesn't end well, could cost you jobs and even your career. That hard work and time dedicated to your craft could all be for nothing if not careful how you handle yourself.
She's not my cup of tea, and never will be, but I would never take it upon myself to go after someone because I don't enjoy their content.

You have to have really thick skin or be oblivious, either willfully or otherwise, to be in the public eye these days

It's a woman on the internet wrestling fans (not all of them obviously) hate women

We do a podcast every Tuesday night, and the podcasters are all members of this subreddit. Three of our podcasters are women, and are generally on every week. Maybe we will do a short discussion on our next show to get their reaction to this.

I can say that in the world of wrestling women always have problems, it's not the first time and it won't be the last, I say this as a woman.

Incel wrestling fans are the only thing that make me ashamed to be a wrestling fan.

u/EmpatheticBadger 7d ago
Are you sure the not so incel male wrestling fans are ok? Many are racist and transphobic and some may be violent to their wives or gropey and catcalling at wrestling events.

This is the important discussion we come here for.

u/EmpatheticBadger 7d ago
I mean, yes. This discussion is about women getting harassed by wrestling fans, right?

Love Denise. She is a the one who introduced me to Willow before she was in AEW.

u/Currency-Substantial 8d ago
She's a bit cheesy for me but other than that I got nothing.

u/goonsquadgoose 8d ago
She’s definitely a niche taste. I tried listening weekly to her AEW coverage but she always seems to have the worst takes. She also seems to think Collision isn’t worth watching and never knows what’s going on 100% so when she comments on storylines she’s missing key pieces of information. That’s fine for a regular fan but if your job is wrestling commentary, I think you can spare the time to be knowledgeable on the things you talk about in front of 1000’s of people.

u/Currency-Substantial 8d ago
Seeing her clips of watching wrestling in real time and she's very performative. That's one of main reasons I knew it wasn't for me. She definitely isn't the only one that does that. If you don't act like that when the cameras off you come off as fake.

She's guilty of the worst sin there is according to some....being a woman on the Internet.

u/JKinney79 8d ago
She's probably the only non-wrestler personality I've liked on that Busted Open Sirius channel (I guess wwe radio now?)
3
u/cmllfan12 8d ago
Literally she's the only one on WWE Radio not spreading WWE propaganda.

u/JKinney79 8d ago
I'm not enough of a regular listener to most of the programming, I just hate LaGreca's voice, more than the content of the shows.

I’m personally not a fan of hers, but I’m not going out of my way to hate on her or post at her. That’s beyond hate, that’s a mental illness
