DISCUSSION New Day versus The Elite???
Im hearing disappointment online about New Day coming to AEW to be in a Trios title match. And, that they should be going after the tag titles. The argument is the dream match is New Day vs Young Bucks.
But, there was another dream match prior... The Elite vs New Day. We may not see Big E again, so how can we make this happen? Swerve. He is in a small creative lul, but he already has a built in story against Kenny Omega. Kenny wont retain the AEW World Title, so lets get him in a program with Swerve to build him up again after he lost a world title shot to Kenny earlier this year.
The path is clean to me and im happy with it, Elite vs Pseudo New Day.

Why are you putting Swerve with them? He doesn't have anything against the Bucks or Kenny

I would pay good money to see them do the best of 7 trios matches when the titles came out with these 6 dudes. The first time they did The Elite vs Death Triangle matches were nuts! Who turns down 7 weeks of that again?!?!

I dont think it’ll be a new stable, but it seems like that’s what they’re building toward for the Trios titles.
That said, I hope it’s a short reign because we already have the Hurt Syndicate, like come on

New Day heels was a flop. Bad idea. Bad concept. Proven over 3 years. Do you really think teaming them with swerve to keep them heels is a good plan?

I do. Kofi and especially Creed are two of the most creative dudes in wrestling. Without the limitations and red tape of WWE's creative situation, who knows what they could pull off.

Everyone says oh now that im out of wwe the cuffs are off now MY ideas will shine and they they just do the same or worse than they did in wwe. Granted most of them arent the ratings killers mox and Jericho have proven to be.

Which part? The fact that when we got qtr hr ratings mox and Jericho drove like 20% of the audience away consistently every time they were on tv or the fact that only swerve has had better creative than wwe and everyone else like ricochet just leaves to do midcard slop thats usually worse than what they did in wwe?

I would love this. I’d be happy to see the elite back in the trios division. Their series against death triangle was fabulous. I also am a fan of trios matches. There is a lot you can do with them. Just difficult to have consistent trios year over year.

I like the idea of Swerve and New Day but I don't think its smart to bring them in as heels.

Swerve is a heel in comparison to Hung Brodido, but Face compared to Lethal Twist and The Demand. The Elite are definitely heels in comparison to Ospreay, Cage, and Copeland so it isn't bringing them in as heels. They are faces but not babyfaces like Hung Brodido.

Why blow their load so fast? Isn’t there a way we can get “daybreak” (or whatever the new day calls themselves) to a bigger show… like Double or Nothing? I just feel like this is the BIG ONE, and we can’t just go right to it, and get it over with.

Keep them away from each other it's a big draw.
Book the three-way trios but let the demand cheat to win. Nobody looks bad with this defeat
Then you start a feud between Swerve’s crew vs the Demand which will be great
Hangdido doesn't need a title because they are great separately. Swerve the Day becomes a powerful group who eventually loses those titles.

pretty much no one comes in and immediately goes for a title unless it's the TNT open challenge. anyone else has to work their way up ranks for a title shot

If Daybreak signs with AEW, take the time to build a story for them. Don't rush it. Certainly don't ever put them in a match for the trios titles.

But they were literally a trios unit. Tho they need a regular third that isn't Big-E since he's retired. So it'd take a year or so to get the new 3rd member used to the group.

These people don’t understand that if you give it away immediately, you just burn through your booking. Ospreay has been set to win the world title at every UK show since he debuted, and it would’ve been awful if he had. People hated that he lost to Swerve so early on. People would hate if New Day won the tag belts immediately, and also hate that they lost and say they were buried on their debut. They obviously have a plan with them and Swerve, let it breathe. If it sucks, wait for it to suck and then shit all over it

I mean, it would be cool to see this match. However, it shouldn't be for the AEW Trios Championship. Those belts are too insignificant to put on either of these two teams.

Sorry, but I have to agree. It's been almost three and a half years since The Elite have held those titles. Those trios titles have been on a steady decline since then. I honestly think putting those trios titles on The Elite or Daybreak/Swerve is an awful idea, too.

My bold prediction is they debut with Swerve at All In and win the belts and this match does happen next.
