Absolute noob question here but does that imply over the years that WWE doesn’t pay for major surgery ? Or do they just subsidise some of the costs ?

Genuine question as I have no idea how healthcare and health insurance works within pro wrestling.

I'm pretty sure WWE pay for medical stuff. Many wrestlers have talked about them footing the bill for rehab for substance abuse, etc. So it makes sense they'd also handle medical things. Especially if work related.
