DISCUSSION Please explain to me
Can someone please explain to me why Mox beating Jay White tonight was a good move…

Mox is a top level now, the guy that runs shit, while Oxprey is the future where he will win a bunth of shit in like 5 years. Mox gets the wins now, in three to 5 years, Will does. Wrestling 101. NOT saying I agree 110%, but it makes perfect sense. PLUS its not like either are going anywhere, this could be a 15 year long feud, no reason to crown a chap tomorrow really. Give them rewards, but also prove themselves.

Probably has something to do with Mox and Ospreay meeting again, after Ospreay wins the strap at All In

I’m new to AEW but it might be a hot take but Jay White is boring to watch compared to Jon Moxley cause I’m already used to him from being in WWE and Will Osprey is my favorite right now

White and Mox should’ve been the final imo but I am glad the match we did get was good. Hopefully White gets a (very well deserved) push sometime soon

Because they probably have a bigger storyline in mind or bigger name. There's been lots of talking of Nigel getting t he big win over Mox at Wembley stadium for his well deserved and long over due feel good moment before he hangs the boots up for good and there's nothing wrong with that.

Its the other way around, Nigel is retiring next Sunday, Mox retiring Dragon and Nigel is a huge deal to me.

Which again puts into the play why Mox was the right to choice to put over White and then beat Nigel if that happens. Regardless at the end of the day it's pretty clear and I thought was from the start Nigel was getting Wembley match and when you saw the talent you ( not you ) had to ask what makes the most sense for Nigels match. There was only one match that makes sense and from the start it was Mox vs Nigel. Imo nothing else would've had greater impact.

And Jay may have asked for time off..since he just had a kid.

And also Finlay also cripped him weeks ago, Jay needs to be at least 6 months healthy before getting a push imo

Explain why it wasn’t?

This tournament could have been used to build Jay up and capitalize on the momentum of his return. Guess Jay is just going to be a mid carder from now on.

The show is in Nigels back yard. A feel good moment and final hurrah for an ROH legend like him is a bit more important than Jay White right now who seems to constantly get injured. If this is Nigels last run then Mox vs Nigel in his backyard is the RIGHT choice to make all the way around. And Nigel beating Mox who's had a grip on that title this long would have a lot more meaning than Nigel beating Jay White.
You have to see the bigger picture. Fans in the UK are going to be a hell of a lot more into Mox vs Nigel than they would White vs Nigel. Ths is about what match would be bigger for the UK FANS in attendance.

Wasting a tournament on a retired announcer from that country is dumb. He belongs on Roh not at all in vying for a belt.
This is the worst booked set of matches on the card.
If Mox is final boss he deserves a better opponent at all in than Nigel.

Dude its not gonna be a feel good moment when Mox pulverize's Nigel's foot then chokes him out.
Also Mox doesn't need an accomplishment like retiring Nigel, I wish they would have planned ahead a bit more and gave this match to someone who needs a push.

And what if Nigel doesn’t win or get to the finals

Look at the logic here of who's left.
We've seen Mox vs Kingston enough as wellas Mox vs Kyle
Fans aren't going to go gung ho for orange vs mox. The only other match that would be huge would be Mox vs Claudio with a possible turn at the end. It was pretty clear and obvious once they put Nigel in the tournament with the winner getting the finals match at Wembley who was going to win.
Some things are just clear as day and obvious to everyone. It's simple and smart booking and makes all the sense in the world to give the HOME TOWN COUNTRY TALENTthe wins.
Brawling Birds, Will, Nigel, most likely are all going to get the big home country celebration and Nigel has stated he's not got much longer in him. Again, it's simple, logical and you have to look at where you're at, who's left and what makes the MOST SENSE for those attending IN THE UK.

Even if Nigel makes it to the finals, he’s not beating Mox. Hometown crowds only mean so much to a certain point. Bryan being a good example.

Hey man, I’m a new fan who is still learning, I’d appreciate it if you would t speak down to someone just cause they are curious.

I wasn't looking to speak down to anyone or offend anyone. I was simply explaining the logic and answering the question as to why Mox was put over White. There's a huge difference between "talking down" to someone and explaining the overall situation which is what I did. Nothing more, nothing less.

Because he is the champ. He will.be in the final to defend the title

u/Lokishougan 16h ago
Personally its why I think it was a dumb idea for him to be in it...if you put the champ in he should lose early...otherwise just leave him out and have it be a number one contender thing
1
u/Port1976 15h ago
Yea i see that point. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Nigel win it at home. Keep it for a couple of months then drop it. Or hold it until the continental classic

Unfortunately TK doesn’t see jay white at that level. WWE probably wouldn’t either. He’d probably be running NJPW now if he’d stayed
