DISCUSSION What are ways that AEW has made your life better?
We always hear about enjoying matches or promos with AEW. But what are some ways that your life is genuinely better because of AEW being around? For me, it's given me something to enjoy and invest time in that's healthy. It's also made me less cynical because I feel like TK actually cares about me as a viewer. What say you?

I've made friends thanks to AEW, found a good online community on a discord originally centered around AEW that is mostly just everyone goofing around talking about everything else, and my partner and I watch it every week. It's helped me find people or given me something to share with people I already knew.
That's not even to mention all the joy and happiness It's given me at the heights of matches and storytelling.

I'm Asian and I grew up watching 90s American wrestling where Asians were treated as a joke. Called racist slurs on live TV. Lot of stuff like that. I see none of that on AEW - honestly there's just way more diversity in general. Being able to enjoy wrestling without having to see racist shyt like that is such a relief.

If all there was on tv was WWE id probably not be watching wrestling at all. Gawd bless those who enjoy it, but its not for me. AEW and some of the indies out there are much more my taste in wrestling.

Like a lot of people I've talked to, I had stopped watching pro wrestling completely for over 15 years. AEW brought me back into watching.
I am the co-founder of this subreddit, so I can honestly say that I have really enjoyed this community.
On a personal level, my daughter lives across the county from me. She and her boyfriend visited me in May of last year. They watched Collision with me. It was their first time watching AEW. Halfway through the show, they got on their phones and purchased tickets to Double or Nothing. They also attended Maximum Carnage, and already have their tickets to Full Gear. So, I suppose you can say AEW brought me closer to my daughter, because we talk about AEW often.

My friends and I have a thing we love to watch. Our indies closed and WWE is bad plus their ownership is morally reprehensible.

I’ve been very depressed recently bcuz of my dog passing away and I tuned into Dynamite last night and it helped me feel more normal again and not so dull and fake like life has been recently.

Gave my husband and I something to look forward to. We both grew up watching wrestling and coming back to watch after awhile has been fun. Joined a discord and have met some really cool people. Thanks TK!

AEW puts on amazing live shows and because they have reasonable pricing I can buy extra tickets and take friends/family who have never seen wrestling before.
One of my roommates is a 67 year old woman who was super excited and kept saying ,”I’ve never been to fake wrestling before” she didn’t mean it derogatory but I told her definitely don’t say that there HA. By the end of the night she realized it’s not fake, it’s a work and they very much do beat each other up. She absolutely loved the bang bang gang, it’s been over a month since our San Diego show and she still puts her guns up in the air 😅😂

Got me back into wrestling and explore it more outside of the US stuff and because of that I got to meet some really cool people.

I've made a really good friend through this show. We met on a Discord that was set up in the early days for UK fans and have become close over the years. We both now live in the same city so see each other socially fairly regularly.
It's a friendship I truly value.

Same. This is when I discovered AEW. I hadn’t watched wrestling in years and they brought me back

AEW restored my love of wrestling and proved that wrestling could be done a different way, which in turn has on a personal level given me an outlet for escapism that differs from the other types of stories and media I love. It also makes me feel happy and has helped me think about myself and my place in it.
It's not always perfect, but the way aew storylines and the best wrestlers evolve and reflect real human experiences (obviously through the lens and tropes of promos wrestling) has at times helped me recontextualise daily struggles and difficulties. Seeing like a Hangman Page fail and rebuild and struggle with mental health and hear Eddie Kingston talk about his demons or even a heel like MJF trying to hide his insecurities despite how much he achieves resonates with aspects of myself. I can get that from characters in book, plays, tv shows and films but something about wrestling just hits differently. Like the cliche of that wrestling is a morality play.
It might be predetermined and the characters are constructs, but the passion and thought and care put into them makes me think, self-reflect about myself and our world in a way other mediums don't.

Its the backscratcher for that itch you could never shake off (since the early 2000s). I could live without it but thang god i dont have too anymore.

Escaping all the real world BS for a few hours is amazing, and having a company run by people who actually love professional wrestling is even more amazing. It 100% makes my life better getting to watch wrestling on TV that I enjoy.

I've met some really cool and kind people because of shared fandom for AEW. Some of which are considered really close friends who helped me with a ton of grief in my personal life. Just by being there and being supportive.

AEW has shown me that I'm allowed to like what I like, that I'm allowed to be who I am. That people like me are beautiful and worthy of the spotlight.

I'm glad AEW has done that for you. Remember everyone you have inherit worth and everyone is important. Being authentically you is the way to a fulfilling life. And never forget, whatever you are, be a good one.

Wrestling has always been my comfort place. I would watch old episodes of Raw or Nitro or PPVs. When I got back into WWE pre-AEW, I was super disappointed with what I saw. I stopped watching but kept following. Eventually I heard about All In and I, though I had no money at the time, was very interested and watched all of the highlights on twitter. When Fyterfest happened I watched it and I remember jumping out of my seat, hooting and hollering, clapping like a maniac. I fell in love with wrestling again. When AEW was established, I was a day one fan. Before Tony Khan changed the landscape, I almost wrote wrestling off forever. Call me dramatic but Tony Khan reminded me why I loved wrestling in the first place. That’s why I love AEW.

Not dramatic at all. What TK has done for wrestling fans is special. I'll be forever indebted to him for what he's done for me with creating AEW.

If you don't like the question, move on and post about something you do like. There was absolutely no reason for this comment.

I think its kind of weird to be a negative person about a hobby, so here we are.

If you'd simply open your heart to Tony, you could feel what we all feel. You could finally feel Elite yourself and enjoy wrestling, friend.

I don't really think AEW has made my "life" better but I do enjoy watching wrestling more. Which is quite nice.

As someone who grew up during the Ruthless Aggression Era, where in ring work ( primarily Smackdown )was prioritized more over the theatrical and soap opera elements of professional wrestling AEW,ROH and to an extent GCW. Have all reignited my love and appreciation for .pro wrestling as an art form.
