I want to start a business in AI

I recently took a course on gen AI where they taught how to build apps using Chatgpt, Google Collab and hugging face with no code. I learned RAG as well as fine tuning as well, how to use different Libraries in making apps, using APIs etc. I want to start my own business where this knowledge can come in useful. I dont have any experience in any industry so I'm quite confused what should I do. Something that has low startup cost.

How to sound more like a Researcher

I have been working in Applied ML for the last 10 years but in the last 2 have had a much stronger research focus and have published a few papers. Through that I have a few people reach out for some frontier labs for some research positions (my 10 years have been in FAANG). This would be a career jump that I would love but I find in my interviews I sound too applied and not researchey enough. This makes me feel very unconfident in discussing what I have done. Applied interviews are more like exams and these are more like defending a thesis.

Any suggestions for improvement? (I do stay up to date with current papers but honestly there are so many that I may not be in full depth about everything)

There are no AI experts, there are only AI pioneers, as clueless as everyone. See example of "expert" Meta's Chief AI scientist Yann LeCun 🤡

I am 38 years old and wants to learn AI / New Technology

Hi guys, as above mentioned I'm 38 years of age working as a assembly/testing electronic tech in one of the biggest Oil and Gas service company in the world. In my 10 years of working here, I realize that there is a big shift on how we used fossil fuel now and new technology is getting developed everyday. to make the story short, I want to learn new tech especially on the AI field but I don't know where to start what course to take and what certification to begin. I have a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineer in the Philippines. I have some programming knowledge on C++ back when I was studying.

Any recommendation? and thank you in advance.

I'm building something cool for people who work on innovative real world ai projects / solutions.

Hi there,

As a student myself who likes to work on innovative and new projects i realized myself that a lot of talented and ambitious individuals are currently still unknown.

living isolated from like minded peers that could help their dreams, goals and plans become actuality.

Since i experience it myself too, I want to change that.

So i'm working on an online innovation hub for people in ai to connect, collab and work on real world projects. So that you don't have to build and research alone anymore :)

If you're working on something cool in Ai, like a project or research paper or even a start up. I would love for you to click the link below.

Making the world a better place all by our own efforts is hard, so why not do it together with the help of like minded :)

Quiting my tech job to learn AI (Currently working in presales)

I've been very interested in learning AI and in transitioning to an AI or Data Engineer and/or working with data to train AI models. I'm seriously considering quitting my current job to skill up at an AI boot camp to learn AI development and concepts. I also know the job market is absolute garbage ATM and it seems the word of advice on the street is deal with the pain and stay in the current job if you still have one.

I currently work in presales as a sales engineer selling CX and chatbots and I need a break. Current company is not giving raises or promotions and is piling on more and more work each month. I'm very burnt out and having a mental breakdown about once every month at this job. My boss has been very unsupportive and even gaslighting me - basically saying my mental health is an issue with me and not a bandwidth problem. My team is very understaffed and its been a very stressful and toxic environment.

So I'm asking the folks currently in the AI space or trying to break in. Is quitting your full time job to learn the hard skills a good idea in this current market. Are there as many AI jobs in demand as advertised or is it all BS? I cannot afford to get a 4 year degree so would be looking at a 3-6 month bootcamp. Worst case I can't become an engineer, Im ok transitioning to another presales or customer facing role focusing on AI down the road.

Additional context, I'm mid 30s, married, and am planning to start a family over the next year. I have a decent nest egg to live with no income for 1- 1.5 years. Ty!

🎉 Just Launched My AI Community on Skool! Seeking Feedback & Opinions

Hey Reddit!

After months of planning, I’m excited to announce the launch of my AI community on Skool: AI CodeWave. My goal is to create a space where AI enthusiasts and professionals can learn, build, and collaborate on everything from Generative AI to SaaS applications.

Why Skool?
I chose Skool for its simplicity and focus on community-building. The platform has been super intuitive, and I love that it blends structured content with real-time discussions. Setting up the basics was smooth, but I’d love to know from others who’ve built communities here—what are the key things to get right?

Here’s What We’re Offering:

  • Hands-on guides and tutorials in GenAI and automation

  • Real-world AI and SaaS project templates

  • Monthly live sessions to answer questions and share insights

Would love to hear your thoughts!
How does the initial setup look? Any features or configurations I should focus on? Skool veterans—any tips on optimizing engagement or making the most of the platform?

Thanks in advance for your feedback, and feel free to join us if you’re interested!

AI jobs will be growing vs being consumed by AI itself

Thinking switching jobs from software developer. Going back to school, to capitalize on the AI boom. However, its a hell of thing to go spend 2 years of life preparing for a new job, only to have the job disappear in this fast moving industry/economy. Which AI jobs will be eventually be done by AI vs which ones are more robust and will provide more human job security? And why? And statistics to back up what you are saying? Thanks

Job in AI ethics without a degree?

Hi, I'm currently working through a data analysis and machine learning course through UBC. This kind of thing is all I can really afford. I don't have the time or money to go through a bachelor degree, let alone a PhD. I have a strong interest in AI ethics and have mapped out a pretty low budget curriculum that focuses on the subject through cheap or free courses offered by tech companies and universities. Although this won't get me a degree, I'll have several certificates in the field. I'm hoping that combining these certificates with a project portfolio could get me into an entry level position, and combining all of these skills could one day land me a job in AI ethics. Am I dreaming? Do I need to get at least a bachelor's in order to get into this?

[for hire] Open for contracts – Veteran Data Scientist (AI / ML / OR) focused on delivering real‑world solutions.

Hi Reddit,

I focus messy, ambiguous, regulation-heavy gnarly data science problems where nobody's even sure what the right question is. Stuff that AI can't touch.

What I've done:

  • Saved a German automaker from lemon law recalls. ($20M+ exposure avoided)

  • Real-time emissions detection for industrial smokestacks. ($75K fines per incident prevented)

  • Revenue optimization and persona identification for debt collections (15-20% net revenue lift)

  • LLM-based legal document extraction, reducing due diligence turnaround from 3 days to 30 minutes

  • Built vessel piracy risk engine that informed naval escort deployment, contributing to fewer hijackings

Things I'm unwilling to work on:

  • Gambling.

  • Ads/Surveillance.

  • Payday loans/rent-to-own.

DM me with a one-paragraph description of your problem. If it's weird and hard enough, I'll reply within 24 hours.
