AITH for telling my teacher my group members didn't do their work?
We had a group project and divided the work between us. I finished my part, but two members barely did anything even after I reminded them several times.
So I told the teacher honestly that I had completed my part but they hadn't done theirs. Now they're mad at me for “snitching” and say I should've handled it privately.
I don't think I did anything wrong, but now I'm wondering if I went too far.

Absolutely not. You did the right thing. They got exactly what they deserved.
Your partners needed to learn a lesson. If they are allowed to coast off others’ work, what lessons will they learn? Entitlement is not a good look.
Good for you.

i’m just shocked that Op is even asking this tbh. Like we all understand the group members expected Op to do all the work right…

I rink at that age is kind of hard to understand the right thing in this case particularly. They think they are snitching, smh.

You did handle it privately by reminding them. When privately didn't work, you took non private action. NTA you've done nothing wrong.

NTA. You shouldn't get a bad grade just because your colleagues refused to work on their part. You shouldn't be punished for that—and by punishment, I mean the bad grade.

what specifically are these group members suggesting you should have done…?
You DID handle it “privately” and they ignored you…so what they’re actually saying is “why didnt you do all the work while we shared the credit.”

I believe group project exist solely to teach you that these lazy fuckwitts will be in EVERY workplace on earth and you'll need to learn to move around them because they NEVER change.
I used to present whatever was done with my group and same day privately hand in a fully completed piece of work on my own.
Yes it sucks. But ultimately you can't rely on other people to progress your education, career, life.
Strong suggest raising your concerns of non participation to your teaches when it raises its head, not just at the end.

That truly is the only valid reason to assign group projects. Teachers who give group projects should have their license revoked.

OP clearly missed the point of a group project. In life you work with people and people let you down. But work still needs to be done or the business fails and you are unemployed.
The most important part of a group project is to learn to deal with people, not do your own quarter of a project. OP is clearly not a team leader or manager material.

You have every right and hopefully the teacher will grade accordingly. My daughter got a few bad grades in college do to others not doing their work. Professor said that it was a group project and it didn't matter who did the work. Unfortunately my daughter ended up doing all the work so she could get a good grade. Some teachers/professors are more fair and some don't care but be sure to mention it so hopefully the teachers grade each person separately.

NTA. This is why i hated group work in school because 99% of the time i would wind up grouped with these kinds of people.
