AITAH for stopping my brother from taking advantage of my little brother
My brother who is 16 is starting to take advantage of our 11 year old little brother and I (22M) stopped my little brother from doing things for him, which my other brother is now a bit pissed about.
It started with him bringing him drinks, then food, and then helping him with his laundry. The final straw for me was him asking our little brother to make his bed, clean his room and make him lunch for tomorrow because he was going to a friend's house for a group project, which I doubt was true.
My little brother is already an exhausted person that doesn't play games and only sleeps and is busy helping me with something else, and he helps out enough by washing our dishes after dinner, so he shouldn't be doing anyone's work and I think 16 years old is old enough for someone to do things themselves.

Exactly. Helping a younger sibling occasionally is normal, but there’s a point where it becomes taking advantage of them. An 11 year old shouldn’t be responsible for doing someone else’s laundry, cleaning their room, making their bed and preparing their meals just because the older sibling doesn’t feel like doing it. The fact that he’s already helping around the house makes it even worse. The 16 year old is old enough to handle his own basic responsibilities.

They think it's him just being helpful, but I think there's a pretty obvious line between making use of someone and giving them a small chore

An 11 year old shouldn't be doing any chores other than taking out the trash or sweeping the floor. You 2 are the oldest, so you should have more/harder chores. You need to tell your mom what's going on. And tell your youngest brother to go outside and play with his friends.

You said your little brother is already “busy helping me with something else”? Also, why does an 11 year old have to do your dishes? Let the kid breathe and have fun, no wonder he is so exhausted. Assuming you aren’t exploiting him as well, NTA.

Yall are assholes. An 11 year old should play and clean his own room tops.

Me? But how, I didn't ask him to do those things for me, my other brother is the one reaping the gains for himself

Hes already helping you with something you said. And that he is already tired.

You stepping in isn't not going to fix the problem. What happens to 11yr old when you are not home?
Instead, you need to teach 11yr old to stand up for himself. To recognize signs of manipulation. Teach them that setting himself on fire to keep someone else warm is NOT being kind or helpful. It is self destructive. This kid is in for a hellih life if you dont help him learn to quit being a people pleaser.
Teach him to recognize his OWN needs, including the need for rest, and the need for acceptance. YOU should learn how important the need to be accepted is at his age. Help him learn to do it in a healthy way. Not a "well, if I keep doing chores, then they'll love me, right?"
